  1. It's recessed a little so you can't get a wrench to it. You can get a socket on it but then no ratchet will fit exhaust in the way. The socket wrench will work along with a socket and vise-grips.
  2. http://static.zoovy.com/img/usfreight/W250-H250-Bffffff/6/6_pc_flex_wrenches.jpg I've had good luck using this style wrench at draining it. Looks like your idea works great also.
  3. you use stock pads or the hh pads get the anti-rattle clip under both pins?
  4. The diesel don't care if pulling a trailer or not, the gas engine didn't care either. They both pulled about the same, the fuel economy is what factored my purchase. If I was just driving a truck for a daily driver and pulling a trailer/camper a few times a year, I may have went gas and a 1/2 ton. The 3/4 tons are more geared toward working in my opinion and are not as fuel efficient as the 1/2 tons. That is why I rented one of each for a week and drove them as I would before making my decision. With higher fuel and maintenance cost of a diesel it might not pay out for the few times a year person. Working on a shipping company to haul the stuff but it's a on demand type haul if they can do what's needed I will go back to a newer 1/2 ton sometime in the future.
  5. Basically the same as a car just smaller nothing special. I use 600 grit wet sandpaper if it needs it. The piston runs on the o-ring so the bore of the caliper doesn't have to be perfect unlike a wheel cylinder.
  6. I rented the truck I thought I wanted for a week. 2000 chevy 2500hd 4x4 xtra cab gas 6.0L. It got around 14-15mpg empty until I hooked up one of the trailers with a 8500lb load. It got around 9-10mpg with the load and 12-13mpg coming back empty around 2500lb trailer. The next week rented a chevy 2500hd 4x4 xtra cab 6.6L diesel. It got around 18-20mpg empty, I did the exact same trip with it same trailer, weight etc. It got around 16-17mpg with the trailer and coming back 21mpg. It was the truck I bought and still have, it's over 500,000 miles now. One transmission, injectors and pump rebuild later. I didn't want a diesel to start with either. I pull a trailer at least once a week, it cost me close to $500 renting the trucks but I've saved more than that driving a diesel.
  7. No probably not hard to say, few '10's here. I drove mine a few years before wearing out the cloth, $500 to reupholster just the two front seats ouch. My son mentioned pull a part we went and found a great choice to look at. Think we got it all out of a '05 or '06 denali, to my surprise the seats plugged in the factory harness already in my truck. You will like the heated seats I didn't think it would make much of a difference to me but I kinda like them.
  8. I changed mine out years ago 2000 silverado xtra-cab, I pulled everything from pull a part salvage from a later model. I got all the leather interior with heated seats, overhead console, carpet, bose sound etc. Basically gutted the truck for $300. If I decide to keep it which is more than likely, I will do it again this spring.
  9. So how does the Pull Lands land I assume that after you pull and pull you throw to get the land correct poulan. I've never owned one. I bought the stihl because of close local dealer and he made me a great deal especially on the second one. I have a old McCullough (spelling) eager beaver that sets on a shelve bought at a yard sale needs to go back in one. My dad was a homelite man homelite zip when he died, that or nothing except he had a old David Bradley saw that I still have. I've used it a couple of times years ago.
  10. We tried it where I work it did not perform up to our specifications. We still use Loctite use Loctite 425 on plastic no problem
  11. Just because he spent the $10k on modifications doesn't mean he will get that back.
  12. I bought 2 new saws this year out of necessity. We had a big wind storm come through and took out 8 trees plus damage to more and took out 250 foot of fence. I have a old Jonsered ( had it 25 years )that will start just about the time you give up, then runs great then getting it started again blah blah. I had a choice of a Husqvarna or a Stihl, I bought a Stihl because of the local dealer closest to me. I bought the 460 for the big stuff but way to heavy ( for me ) to do the trimming with so I went back and bought a Stihl 180c for that been happy so far. Husqvarna's are great saws or used to be along with others. I looked at the Echo line because of warranty 5 years but they seemed cheap made don't know never had one. I've cut a lot of wood using a Husqvarna and Stihl, you should be good to go for a long time. http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQtgOpAaz2hmiIUEVSlx7HAc1LdYJNKa3uR8Cyc54wL-P97F3WECQ
  13. I'm done... thanks guys
  14. Thanks, man I may have finally figured where all the smoke was coming from.
  15. What year on the IT400? I have a 78 DT400 and a 83 YZ490, plus a lot more junk lol.
  16. Gas all the way here, for everything is possible. I couldn't ride my scooter without gas, my r/c cars, mower etc. I couldn't imagine the old ways without it, horse and buggy not my thing heat and wipers just not up to par.
  17. Please don't tell my work truck about the K&N filters it has had one since new day one. It's the first thing I change it has 678,535 miles on it still running strong just got back with it a few minutes ago. Everything I own has a K&N in it if it will fit including the lawn mowers.
  18. I got rid of my Ural about 3 years ago just never could adapt to it. Traded it for a Rokon trail breaker. http://www.rokon.com/index.php?p=1_4_Trail-Breaker. It's not street legal but I never used the Ural on the street either.
  19. Quick look on ebay stratoliner engine $1100 used venture to cut up to see if it will fit $5500. Man hours, shop rate to machine the stuff, paint, seats etc from cutting the frame all the unknowns $10,000:detective: you should be able to get in one for under $20,000.
  20. Was thinking it could be a one page book. but honey........................but honey......... etc you get the picture.
  21. Sounds like a great basement lol. I have the six speed gears to swap along with some sprockets just never got to it. Here's a little more info. https://sites.google.com/site/mb5supersite/technical
  22. That was my next suggestion pick up a nice used older v-twin and have both. I have the venture and a vmax can't take much more than a 100 miles at a time on the vmax but can do a 1000 miles on the venture easy. A few of us took our old bikes pre 80's out for a 500 mile loop a few weeks back. Wow was I ready to get home the RD,CB,KZ and a friends old Moto-Guzzi wasn't as comfortable as anyone remembered. Butt's out of shape for a flat seat that far anymore. Sorry I never got into the air-cooled, push rod, chuggin v-twin type power of lack there of, good torque though just not my thing. They build both so everyone has their choice.
  23. I sure have, haven't had it out in forever though. Mine has the black body and frame with a red stripe 1982 model with the euro fairing added and factory luggage rack. It has had some work done to it, piston, carburetor and different exhaust. It will run 60mph wide open screaming but cruises nicely around 30-35mph. :cool10:
  24. As they say the truth hurts sometimes. could go buy a Hardley I guess, air cooled push rod engine and they already have a touring model.
  25. My question is why?? How do you figure its more? both about a 100hp but your stepping back in time with the air cooled push rod engine for what? wait its 1854cc!! Spend some money on the 1300cc cams, springs, higher compression pistons, carbs. etc. and keep embarrassing the stratoliner at will. order some cams and springs for the 1300 some straight pipes and you will never know a what a stratoliner is.
