  1. OK....it looks like the bidding has begun and Pegscraper is up to $1500.00. I'll go $1750.00. When should I pick it up?
  2. I guess it's possible but it has not been my experience. A few years ago, I had a major problem with my bike that the dealers, several of them, could not figure out. It was a VERY strong raw gas smell that was so bad that it actually made my wife sick. After about 4 dealers tried to find the problem, they had a factory tech come in to look at it. He acknowledged the problem but couldn't find the cause either. After many attempts to find a solution, they finally gave up. Their response then was "it is normal, we don't find that anything is wrong". I ended up filing a lemon law suit against Yamaha. It was a long drawn out process and took almost 2 years to get it resolved. There were a lot of interviews, depositions, etc. but not one time during the entire process was the maintenance history brought up. I have always done my own oil changes and other maintenance. I kept my receipts for each oil change so I did have the proof if I needed it but it was never asked for or even mentioned. I guess if the problem was an engine failure associated with the oil, then it would become an issue but otherwise, probably not. So I would recommend that you create a folder or box or something and keep your receipts for proof, I doubt that you will ever need it. It is also a FACT that they cannot deny your warranty claim if the oil you use meets the factory specifications. It does not have to be Yamalube.
  3. Done.
  4. Whether it is in or out should make absolutely NO difference in how it runs. All that hose does is allows the AIS system to work. It has no affect on the performance. If you are backfiring with it out then the carbs are NOT synced correctly or you have something else wrong that is causing the backfiring. You can enable, disable or completely remove the AIS system and it won't change the performance of the bike.
  5. Probably not after you accused him of being stupid.
  6. I didn't spend any time looking around. Just got them from Dennis Kirk a the link that Larry provided in the first post. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=494431&store=&catId=&productId=p494431&leafCatId=&mmyId
  7. LOL....you need to back up there a bit Condor. Midnight Venture is his username, NOT the bike.
  8. Finally got around to ordering the clamps and they were here when I got home yesterday. Did this install first thing this morning. Very easy to do. As Bamico said, I did have to disconnect the shifter and the shifter bracket but that is very simple to do. As usual, Larry has built a great product that should be installed on every RSV out there. Fantastic product.
  9. Thanks. I'll let you all know what I end up with. Heck...I'm almost to the point of not doing it at all.
  10. Using an oil other that Yamalube cannot affect your warranty.
  11. Yes I am. I may be wrong though. That is the way that mine seem to work and I thought I had read the specifics somewhere in the manual but I search both the owners manual and the service manual last night after posting this and can't find anything. Maybe I imagined it.
  12. I THINK I see a Samuel Adams on that table. If so, somebody has VERY good taste.
  13. Here you go. I managed to find a "FAT SMILEY" for you folks.
  14. We are very happy for both of you. Don't worry about the bike...in just a few short years (maybe 20 or so) you will be able to get another one. Seriously, it is great news and will bring you much joy.
  15. They only turn off automatically if you turn them on above a certain speed. Otherwise, they are manual.
  16. I don't know how. There must be something different in your bike and mine.
  17. Here's where you order them. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17406
  18. and you will NEVER hit the rev limiter in 4th. I'm topped mine out in 5th gear and then downshifted to 4th and picked up more speed. These bikes will actually run faster in 4th than they will in 5th. One note: That was before I installed the VMAX rear. Haven't tried to see if it will hit the rev limiter in 4th since that change.
  19. Thanks, they are a short drive from me.
  20. No, that would be WAY to easy. It's already black.
  21. Somebody here tried the Bazooka setup and it wasn't very good. Should be a thread about it somewhere here.
  22. Yes, the top is the darker color. Thanks for letting me know. Their swatches actually show it to be a lot lighter and not even the same tone. Sounds like a trip to the paint store is indeed the answer.
  23. To me it is worth it. As for gas mileage, I think that in some cases it can actually improve your mileage. Depending on how and where you ride.
  24. Very nice. Looks great.
  25. You stay out of this. I KNOW you are color blind.
