  1. I have the regular Deer whistles on my bike and truck. Maybe it's just coincidence or maybe they do work, but every Deer I've driven near has run in the other direction or just stood still. The other day the deer was running along side of my truck then veered away into the forest.
  2. Lil' Wolf and I had a Great time Saturday. Sorry we missed meeting Bubba. Looking forward to the next one. DR, what was the date for the St Jude ride in Oct?
  3. I did my pipes. Basically, there is a cone shaped piece of sheet metal around the pipe between the baffle and outer chrome. drill a couple holes in a line from the end of the pipe to the center at the exhaust hole. then be careful to pull the cone metal away from the chrome and remove it completely. Then you can drill several holes spaced neatly around the baffle. The exhaust will rumble louder with more or bigger holes. Good luck and take it slow.
  4. Condor, I'll put some more time into it. You're right it is a PITA! Rivco makes it sound so easy.
  5. I have a 2007 Venture & just installed a centerstand. All was well until I scraped the centerstand on a driveway curb. I noticed that the stand was hitting the Emissions Valve, so it wasn't up all the way. I tried to relocate the E valve per the Rivco directions. No luck, the directions seem easy enough, pull the bracket off and mount it backwards. It didn't move the E Valve far enough to allow the centerstand to not contact it. I was thinking of drilling new mounting holes higher up on the frame. Any ideas?
  6. I took the stand off the bike and reversed the front brackets from the outside to the inside, put the stand back on and it works like a charm. Of course I had to use the thick of rolling the rear wheel up on a 2x4 to get more leverage. Thanks again.
  7. I second that! VR has been a great place for finding info and great people! Happy Holidays to all!!!
  8. I did notice in the install pics, that it looks like the front brackets are on the inside and the back bracket is wide enough to be on the outside of the stand.
  9. Dingy, I received the stand the other day. I had time to install it yesterday, it went on easy. I tried to lift the bike, but it wouldn't go all the way. I think the front brackets are squeezing the stand. The stand doesn't move freely without the spring. Is it possible that the front brackets should be mounted to the inside of the stand bracket instead of the way it came to me. Did you have the stand mounted in this configuration?
  10. I've been wanting to put a center. Stand on since I bought my RSV. Don't know why they're. not standard equipment. I'm glad the $ is going to the Hospital.
  11. My wonderful wife just put in a bid for my Christmas Present.
  12. I used some JB Weld over some small cracks in my fairing tabs. I think the best thing Star could do is upgrade the windshield/fairing mounts. Why not make them separate? Seems like too much stress and not enough support to mount them together and the tabs on the fairing should be beefier!!

    Tire mix up

Though I would have liked to ride on the back of the Hot salesgirls bike, the service manager gave me a lift in his truck.

    Tire mix up

I prefer the E3, as well. The tire the warehouse sent was a 90/16, looked like a front compared to my 85/15.

    Tire mix up

I did ask for a demo to ride, they didn't bite. They did have a used Harley Dyna with 2 - 6x9 speakers and a power amp in each saddle bag!
  16. NOt very happy this afternoon. Today started out with me going to have my new Dunlop E3 rear installed on the Venture. Arrived at Cycle Nation about 9:45am. They quickly took my bike in to the service bay. I spoke to parts about a price match from Motorcycle Superstore and got $30 refunded. That's when the "Happy" feeling went south. Turns out that their warehouse sent the wrong size tire. That wouldn't be too bad, but service already removed my rear tire from the rim. So they gave me a ride home and I wait till the correct tire comes in to be installed. Hopefully by Wed. It's always something...
  17. Why is the Dunlop E3 rear tire size shown as MV85B-15 (77H) Dunlop Elite 3 Bias-Ply instead of 150/90-H15 for the Venture?
  18. This explains why I got 17k on my stock D404's that came on the bike new. Now my 2nd 404 on the rear is starting to show a flat spot at only 10k. I had an E3 on the rear for 400 miles, but picked up a 2" screw in Roanoke and the dealer didn't have a replacement, so I had a D404 put on thinking I would get the same miles as the 1st set. I plan to replace the rear with an E3 to match the front, which still looks new.
  19. I just started having this issue the other week. I've ridden in cold weather many times since I bought my bike, no issues. I plan to split the cowl and grease the connections and while I'm at it add the baffles to the speakers.
  20. I like the idea of using a higher rated cap to show more yellow at less pressure lost. I do agree that it seems bad to have the valve held open by the psi gauge that might break and let your tire deflate quickly. ??
  21. Great Job!! Where did you pick up the smoked taillight??
  22. I think I will put a set on my wife's mini van and see how they do. She never checks her psi. I will then put a set on my bike if they test well.

    Just a Warning;)
  24. Has anyone used these type of PSI indicator caps on their tires? http://www.bikemaster.com/bmstrv2.nsf/Products/EE6E9572ED4BD60D86257713005D53AD?opendocument
  25. Ar least the Kayak helped him float to to surface.
