  1. Skid found the fountain of youth!!! I can tell cause he's acting like a little kid!!!!:rotfl::rotfl: Did you find it by a second gen? Big Mike....who likes to make silly jokes:whistling:
  2. I snapped some pictures while taking the bike down and thought i'd share 'em. I wish I would have done each step, but when you decide to tear into it and don't think about it these are the pics I was able to snap. Sorry about the darkness i'm not sure how to fix it.
  3. Well i've finally made the decision to repaint my Venture. When I origionally thought of doing this, my father-in-law was going to loan me his garage and expertise. However with the economy the way it has been, half way through his rebuild of the garage he was let go from his job (downsizing) and hasn't finished the ventilation system for the paint stall. I was hoping by spring he would have it done but it isn't working that way. So off of a whim I decided to give a friend of mine a call, who now runs his families bodyshop. He said if we do all of the prep work, and wet sand and polish after it is painted, that he would paint any color (including candies or pearls) for $300.00 to $500.00 depending on weather he had to do any extra touch up work or not. So considering that the paint alone was going to cost me around $300.00 when I was pricing it out, I figured that having a professional paint job including paint and labor for $3-500.00 was awesome. I know the hard part is going to be the prep and finish work but We were going to have to do it all for that price. I was going to do the 2007 Venture blue and black, but now after looking at several different paint colors and bikes I am thinking of maybe a Black Pearl. I feel Chrome lends itself well to Black and vice versa, but that Black Pearl will give it that little extra ooooohhhhh aaaaahhhhh factor. I havent decided weather i'll have the blue or the white pearl added to the clearcoat yet, but I will make that decision when I get to the bodyshop next weekend. Now the bike is being torn apart, and hopefully by tomorrow we will be able to get started on the prep work. Big Mike........who's looking forward to a new paint color as much as spring!!!!!!!
  4. I just realized that it was YOU your bike and a plow, so I give it up to Cerviperus who actually followed the directions correctly!!! Way to go. What's the next one buddy??? Big Mike.....who didn't follow directions so well!

  6. I'm glad you like them! Me too!!! When I bought them for my bike, I listened to the exhaust that was on my bike before I put on the Barons.....Fact is after 2 weeks i'm still looking like this... Mine are packed a little, but I am considering taking it out to see how they sound! Big Mike:15_8_211[1]:

The joints are made from tin or metal and then the rubber is bonded to the inside and outside of it. i'll see if I can find the post that showed a cutaway so you can see what i'm referring to. Big Mike

    repair work

I'm just curious why you may think you need these. There was a time I thought I may need to replace them due to cracks in the rubber and found that they have rubber wrapped tin or metal of some sort. Have you been told they were bad??? Just lookin' out for you since I have a 1999 and found them not needed. Big Mike
  11. I was hopeing to find a cheaper alternative, but that doesnt look like a good idea. Where do I find the one from custom dinamics and how much is it? Thanks for the info, Big Mike
  12. Taillight Bulb instead of an led board? I am considering one but I am not sure what number the bulb is ie. 1156, 1157 or if they are a total different kind of number. Also I have seen some LED bulbs that have a 90 degree bend so the light is reflected on the lens and the kind that look almost like a regular automotive bulb only with led's. HELP!!!!!!!! NOT SURE WHAT KIND TO BUY. Thanks in advance, Big Mike
  13. Did Good! So ya gonna keep him around?!!!! Big Mike
  14. I just bought a used set from another member (WIKD) and love them. You can remove the baffles and wrap them with fiberglass wrap to quiet them. They do not come wraped from the manufacturer from what i've read. Mine are wrapped and they are perfect. Great rumble and you can hear them for a ways off, but that is the way I like it!!!! I am told that I can wrap them more and they will quiet down, but i'm not into that yet!!! Big Mike....who loves the rumble of a VENTURE:big-grin-emoticon:
  15. That is an awesome feeling when you can share your ride with someone you love. Just keep her feeling safe and definitly get her a leather for protection. Hope you guys have alot more rides together!!! Big Mike
  16. I just bought them for my 99. The 2007 has the clear lenses so that is the year I ordered them for. They work great. Not sure of the exact year. Hope this helps. Big Mike
  17. AMEN BROTHER AMEN. Big Mike who shot that stupid groundhog from the grassy knoll!!! COME ON SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Well I got up the guts to ride to work today. Left my house at 4:00am at 25 degrees F. The wind was calm and I was wearing my chaps, coat and hooded sweatshirt. Since I wear a half helmet my face started to get cold from my nose to my chin. But it wasn't unbareable so long as I put my glove over my face every now and again. But the ride home was great, in the 40's. Tomorrow it is supposed to get into the 50's so i'm planning to ride again. I bought a face cover to help keep my face warm for tomorrows ride in. I figure as long as the roads aren't snow or ice covered I'll ride. What the heck snowmobilers do it all winter.....why can't I. Just for the sake of all you who think i'm nuts....so did my wife!!!! At least i'm not parked outside of a psyciatrists office. My bike and I have been couped up too long.... YEEEEEE-HAAAAAA let the good times roll!!!!! Big Mike
  19. Congrats. Keep up the good work! Big Mike
  20. Most here ride a Yamaha of some sort. But anyone is welcome here who rides or not, as well as any brand of bike. I personally ride a Yamaha Venture 2nd generation. P.S. Don't say you don't ride if you ride a bicycle, alot of us got our start on two wheels without a motor attached!!!! Your probably just up and coming!!!! Big Mike:15_8_211[1]:
  21. First off I have to thank you for your concern. Personally I have only had the stock windshield since I have owned my bike. I like the idea of having a wider windshield. The idea of a shorter one came when I had seen a full dresser (H.D.) with a short windshield. I liked the look of it and thought our bikes would look good with it also. I have not had one like I said in the past, so that is why I came to this site for opinions. Yours is definitly appreciated also. The one I am considering is 4" shorter than stock and 5" wider so it is not a huge difference I thought. The fact that it is wider I was helped to appreciate protects your hands from the wind better. So I figured it would give it a little more attitude without sacrificing alot of protection. As always I feel everyone on this site is entitled to their own opinions and I truely appreciate yours. You guys are ALL...TOP NOTCH on this site. You can tell we all look out for each other when we get concerned comments like this. THANKS ALOT Mariner Fan for looking out for my head!!!!! Big Mike:15_8_211[1]:
  22. That's the one i'm looking at. Think i'll have to purchase it. Thanks alot!!!! Big Mike
  23. Thanks Chris thats what I was hoping to see. Nice looking bike by the way. Just out of curiosity, what size and brand windshield are you using? It kind of resembles the one I was looking at in JP Cycles for our bikes. Big Mike Wow I didn't get any responses at first so I was kind of getting worried that no one liked the shorter windshield. Then I got a response from chris that I responded to above, and poof when I hit submit there were several replies. You guys are truely top notch. Thank you all!!!!
  24. Does anyone ride with a shorter wider windshield? I am considering the purchase of a wider and shorter tinted shield but i'm not sure I will like riding on long trips with it. Also I am not sure of the way it looks. If anyone here rides with one can you please post a pic, and tell me what height it is possibly? Maybe some pro's and cons of it too? Thanks in advance, Big Mike
