  1. Since you said you wanted to get ideas for new places to ride, I say if you get on and ride until you have covered the whole world, YOU will find your favorite place to ride!!!! And guess what?! You'll probably want to do it all over again when your done!!! That's my plan. However, I personally loved the trip to NADA tunnel in KENTUCKY. That road and all the ones in and around that area were beautiful. Planning another trip into Kentucky, Virginia, and pssibly West Virginia tis summer. Here theres some great riding in those states too!!! Big Mike:Venture:
  2. Well I guess since I decided to keep my 99, I might as well go for broke! This year all I planned to do was put on a new ignition switch, and 4 new intake manifolds. BUT....as most of us Venture riders know, it never stops with just this or just that. So I have decided to buy a head set, a gps unit, the ignition switch, 4 intake manifolds and get this.....A TRAILER! But....not just any trailer....a custom built to my specs trailer. All aluminum framework, aluminum diamond plate lids, aluminum flatstock walls d/a'ed for a nice look. The trailer is 4' long by 3' wide by 3' deep for the storage portion. But in front of the storage portion will be a 1' by 3' cooler with a lid that opens seperate from the back. It will have double walls with insulation in between them and a built in drain on the bottom. I'm STOKED! the plans are being drawn up on a computer program today, and my uncle will be starting on the production before spring. He works for a company that customizes fire trucks, so he likes to do some little projects for fun, and we have been kicking around this idea for about a year. I'll be sure to put up some pics when we get it underway! Will look very similar to the top two pics in this page http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://allstartrailers.com/images/mct_and_mctxl_motorcycle_trailers2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://allstartrailers.com/Motorcycle_Trailers.html&usg=__dIsVkBlOWrvx9VwmjYusculAzO4=&h=1944&w=2592&sz=1317&hl=en&start=20&um=1&tbnid=VmypOopCxBGwBM:&tbnh=113&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmotorcycle%2Btrailers%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1 YEE HA!!! Big Mike
  3. If you need them for the heat on your legs.......Then YOU'RE NOT RIDING NEAR FAST ENOUGH!!!!!!!
  4. Thanks Ruffy thats the place. Great guys to deal with too! And by the way if you call these guys and tell them what is going on, they will tell you exactly what you need to do the upgrade. Big Mike P.S. after I did the upgrade, it didn't matter what kind of oil I used it wouldn't slip
  5. Yep, Yamaha puts a weak spring in the bike. I had about 30,000 on my bike when I started noticing it. Very easy fix. Buy a new clutch spring for a vmax. Can't remember where I got mine from, other than it was in New York. Suuidly put me on to those guys. It only takes about 15-20 min to replace, and WOW what a difference!!! Don't mess with Yamaha replacement. I think it only cost me like $60.00 or so and it came with a full friction disk instead of the half one that yamaha puts in. Big Mike p.s. I'll see if I can find out who I went through and get back to you.
  6. pretty sure if you remove the lamp you will have a nut you can tighten. the passing lamp bulb i mean.
  7. we seem to be ok that way. our rehab unit has taken a hit lately though since the nursing homes have started to incorperate that into their agenda of things to take on. all in all we seem to be staying in the good, but as a large corperation they are always looking to lean the budget some.
  8. This was like a really bad accident....I felt bad for looking but just couldn't seem to turn my head. Please...someone gouge out my eyes!!! Big Mike....who wishes he was blind!
  9. I appreciate that don! Kind of knew I wasn't going anywhere anyhow. I can't give up something this fun, or a family this great! Big Mike
  10. Just wanted everyone to know I will be part of the VR family for years to come! Can't bring myself to sell my bike, and thanks to everyone here who didn't buy my bike, i'll be able to keep her. I was considering a sale due to possible cuts at the hospital, but hasn't happened yet (started trying to sell in july) and it doesn't matter if it does in the future cause we can cross that bridge when we get there. Took it out for a ride last saturday and it left me stranded at wal-mart, paybacks for not keeping it on the battery tender and not riding it for 2 months. Also noticed that left rear intake boot on carb is leaking fuel. But strangely enough I dont feel frustration or a strong sense of trying to off this thing. Instead I am thinking about sinking some more money into it and liking it!!!!! I think I have just reached that LIFER STATUS:confused24: I love this bike....no turning back for me! Big Mike p.s. Can't wait for Dons next maintenance day!
  11. Yea That!!!!!! Check this link out and turn up the speakers. Pay attention to Freebirds #3!!!! I think he's the pond monster!!!!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhk-J9YwLR8]YouTube - Multiplicity 1[/ame] Big Mike:nanner:
  12. What kind of troubles are you having?
  13. Sorry Rick, havent been on here much lately so I didn't get your question until now. Truth is I havent had a chance to do much lately so I will be going out to look at it later today. I'll let you know if I find anything. Are you having issues also? Or just curious? Big Mike
  14. Thanks Eck, i'll look into this in the next few days. Things are getting extremely busy around here. I do greatly appreciate the info and link though. And YES........I do have a backrest.....GOT IT FROM YOU AS A MATTER OF FACT!!! Appreciate it very much, not a whole lot of guys out there like you.....well there are a few on this site......You are still very much appreciated though in my book. Thanks, Big Mike:thumbsup2:
  15. I have been stumped for about 1 week now. One sunny day I was riding home from work and my radio just cut out....no power to the tuner where the volume control is. After tracking down which fuse it was, I found that the 10 amp fuse behind the side cover...aka backup fuse, was blown. I figured it was probably an original fuse, changed it out and it worked fine for about 1 week. Then one day it blew shortly after starting, while idleing. So being suspicious I was careful to watch while I put in the new fuse. With the key in the off position I noticed the fuse was arcing while I inserted the fuse....wierd....tried to see if the radio worked by turning the key to acc position...worked fine....turned the key to the on position with the radio on and everything ok....hit the start button and lost radio power. All I can think is that the ignition switch is shorting out??? ANYONE EVER RUN INTO THIS? Please shoot me your ideas or experiances!!!! Thanks, Big Mike:think::think::think::think::think:
  16. Unless you plan riding in rain with it on your bike, I would buy a Garmin any model for a car. When we went on our trip in June through 4 states, that is what we used and it worked great. If you look on Wal-Marts website, they are clearancing out several models and sizes of all that they carry, since the new models are coming out. Worth a look. Oh yea, you CAN'T hear them unless you have earphones, due to wind noise! Good Luck, Big Mike
  17. Started looking at who had bikes around that year near Saginaw. If it was one of us, maybe it could have been Bill Pringle. How about it Bill, was it you?????? It sure was a nice bike. Big Mike
  18. Today on my way home from work, I seen what I believed to be about a 2006 Venture (black cherry and raven) heading east on US-10 in Midland, Mi. I gave the riders a thumbs up and proceded to pass them in my black 2000 Mercury Sable. They then followed me into Freeland, Mi. by way of M-47. I turned off on McCarty road and they continued toward State St. in Saginaw. Was it anyone here? It was a nice looking Venture! Big Mike
  19. Glad to hear the good news. Just found this post and had all the emotions from sad to mad to happy and excited. Almost like reading a thriller book. We're rootin' for you guys. Keep us informed about the court case. Hope all goes well:mugshot:, let us know if you need anything. Also give that boy a huge hug and kiss from vr.org members!!! Big Mike
  20. Don't worry Art, i'm pretty easy going! I'll give you one more guess before you strike out!!!:rotfl:
  21. Yep, you kinda figured on that happening the last time we talked. Well, I hope things are looking up for you soon. Any new prospects for work yet? Say you could start a motorcycle repair service...but i'm sure you would have to charge more than the usual rate or you just may starve!!!! Lonna can make a mean desert I hear, but ingredients don't come free!!! Shucks, now I may have to travel to Texas for my cheesecake. :scared:Oh well, haven't been there in a while.....since first grade!!! You two hang in there, your the best there is. Keep smilin' Squid you'll have work in no time. Y'all come back now ya hear...at least to maintenance day. Good luck, Big Mike
  22. Neither, I'm at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Midland.
  23. Nope, sorry....that is the other big_mike. If you look at my info page you will see me at the top with my wife. By the way thanks for your concern also. Things ok for now, just want to be smart about possible cuts. Big Mike
  24. All ok here Squid. Just trying to keep thing a little more simple right now. I'm sure i'll be back on a Venture in the future. You just can't be too prepared when you hear cuts may be coming at work....even if they say it is only for upper management in the hospital, and not patient contact personnel. Thanks for the concern. Big Mike
