  1. I put a E3 rear tire on my '07 RSV in August and have had NO problems with it. Great ride. Today I a E3 mounted on the front and immediately felt a very positive noticeable difference in the ride, handling, etc. The tire the E3 replaced was original equipment with 13,000 miles on it. E3 gets my vote everytime I am asked. Just my $.02.
  2. I purchased these a few months ago. They were easy to install and look good. I recommend them.
  3. The dealer I purchased my '07 from (new) will sell me the accessories for 20% off and install them FREE. That includes tires (mounting/balancing free). Anyone in Oklahoma who is in the market for a new Yamaha, I recommend Seahorn Yamaha in Shawnee. Just my .02 worth.
  4. I passed a white RSV on I35 this afternoon and it exited at Purcell. Was it someone who is a member of this site ?
  5. My wife and both have the Sy-Max II and truely love them. The flip up chin bar makes getting the helmet on and off a breeze. The flip down sun visor is a good feature too. I installed the speakers in the helmet with no problem at all. I'm still trying to figure out how to mount the mic boom inside the chin bar though. The only complaint I have with the Sy-Max II is there needs to be a bit more room between your chin and the inside. It seems a little close. Other than that....
  6. Well, I know that the dealer told me that a carb sync would be covered under warranty but didn't mention color tuning to them. I noticed today that the boot clamps on the carbs on the right side (side the soot was on) were very loose and the ones on the left side (no soot) were tight. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it but I tightened them anyway. Thanks for all the good advice!!
  7. The "Pork" would be alot of fun, but my job will prevent me from being there. Ya'll have a great time and ride safe.
  8. Ok... Thanks SaltyDawg. Again, probably another "stupid" question.... but is the colortune something my Yamaha dealer can do? Then have them do the carb sync? I have a little over 10K on the bike and I'm sure it is due for a checkup. Thanks:thumbsup2:
  9. I pulled my Bub Sleeper slip-ons off earlier today to wrap packing around the baffles and noticed a considerable amount of black soot on the right side baffle and none on the left side. I'm assuming that the right side (which ever cylinders, carbs, etc. exhaust though it) is running too rich. Would a carb sync take care of this? Thanks
  10. TD... I bought a package of baffle packing today and plan on installing it on my Sleepers this weekend. What kind of rivet did you use to reinstall the caps, steel or aluminum? I sure hope it quiets the pipes down a bit so it will make my 2 up rider happier ...
  11. hehehe..... "Ole Panhead of the Evil Inlaws MC"
  12. Thanks TD. I'll do that trick for sure.
  13. Thanks for the page link Freebird. I have only had my '07 RSV since December... I'm still learning tech stuff about it.... but riding the tires off it.... I have almost 10K on the odometer now. Just replaced the rear tire with a Elite 3 and love it!! I sure would like to find out a way to quite the Bub Sleepers a bit though... I've searched for a former thread concerning the baffles and repacking them in the Sleepers, but haven't had any luck as of yet. Thanks again!
  14. Ok... I installed the Bub Sleepers on my '07 RSV and am too experiencing backfire when I shift. Exactly WHERE is the AIS and what procedure needs to be done to plug it? Thanks....
  15. Think that may be the right way to spell it. Anyway, I have had those pesky ground dwelling yeller jackets and found that a good dose of that dust in and around the entry hole to their nest will do the trick. And the Berryman's carb cleaner works good too.... eliminated 2 nests of them today in my wife's green house. Good Luck !!
  16. Just got to experience my first flat on my '07 RSV. Exiting the interstate I felt the bike wobbling and the back tire went flat. Ended up having to have a wrecker come with a cycle trailer to get me. In 106°F heat it was a "trying" experience. Guess 9k on the tire indicates that it is time for a new one. The rear tread looks like there is quite a bit of wear left, but with the heat and running 75 mph or so for 60 miles might have taken a toll on the tire.
  17. And all along I thought we were talking about owls.
  18. Bought a new '07 RSV Midnight in December and it was $14,500 out the door. The '08 was about $1k higher.
  19. I just installed a set of Baron 1 1/2" risers on my '07 RSV Midnight and didn't have to take anything loose to do the install (other than taking the bolts and caps off. There is plenty of room to slip the risers behind the handle bar without lengthening the cables/hoses and didn't have to take the faring apart. The position of the grips is more comfortable than without them. I have noticed a little different handling since the install which might warrant lowering the front end a bit. If you have the chrome ignition switch cover on your RSV the risers will not work, since the handle bar caps will make contact with the cover on hard right or left turns. Bottom line is I like the risers!!
  20. Sorry to hear of your lost cap. I too have almost lost the front chrome cap on my '07 RSV. I had already lost the right side bolt & nut when I noticed it was loose and luckily the left side was still pretty secure. I had my dealer replace the right side hardware with no problem. IF it was lost due to vibration wonder if they would cover it under warantee?
  21. We see who wears the pants in the family !!:rotfl: J/K......Hope you have a good sell on the RSV. I'd like to have alot of those accessories on my RSV for sure!!
  22. Darn. I can only muster around 37-38 mpg out of my RSV. It's an '07 w/5000 mi. I haven't had the carbs sync'd yet and maybe that is something I need to have the service shop do the next time I take her in for alittle tlc. You didn't mention the mph you normally ride at which might be the difference in our mpg. Most (90% or more) of my riding is done on the highway or interstate at speeds of 60 to 75 mph.
  23. Best of luck with your surgery and recovery. I have my grill installed but haven't taken any pics with it installed to send to you. Great product Steve!!
  24. I finally purchased a Sy-Max II modular helmet and do like it alot. The flip down sun screen is nice, even though I am used to wearing sunglasses when I ride. I installed the speakers and am in agreement that some trimming needs to be done. The speakers sure put a crimp on the ears! I found a great deal on the Sy-Max II at newenough.com and purchased it for $206. This was about $75 or so cheaper than anywhere else I found. Thanks for the info! Ride safe.
  25. VStar 1300 tourer is a nice ride. Bought a new '07 last summer ($9500 out the door) and really did like it. Doesn't hold a candle to my '07 RSV Midnight though. But as stated, it isn't very comfortable for a 2 up rider.
