  1. Kathy & I will probably go. Can't wait to see all the major changes they put into the RSV this year. It's a joke folks, I know it's just a color change...
  2. If the 2nd Gen tech library doesn't have it you might try getting a repair manual. You can get a CD version cheaply, like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-ROYAL-STAR-VENTURE-REPAIR-SERVICE-MANUAL-99-06_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem25566eb6fbQQitemZ160363886331QQptZMotorsQ5fManualsQ5fLiterature or a hard copy like this: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-Royal-Star-1996-2003-Motorcycle/dp/0892878088/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253904912&sr=8-2]Amazon.com: Yamaha Royal Star: 1996-2003 (Clymer Motorcycle Repair) (9780892878086): Primedia Business Directories & Books: Books[/ame] I like the hard copy and always carry it with me ... just in case.
  3. I went to the site as I also have clutch slippage (66K miles). However, I don't see any mention of clutch kits at pcwracing. Am i missing something?
  4. Looks like we're at 6 now. Anyone else?
  5. Yep, we'll be there for breakfast.
  6. Kathy & I may be there. I'll let you know later.
  7. Can you use 4 colortunes at one time? If so, I can bring mine and that'll be 2 of the 4 needed.
  8. OK, add me to the list. I'll take one set. Thanks.
  9. I was using the Carbtune II until I noticed the sticking rod issue.
  10. Like you, I didn't like how they stuck. I had to move them to different angles to get them to move freely. I'm hoping to find something better.
  11. I'm sure this won't be a popular view on motorcycle forums but it is a rational one. One argument I constantly read bout is that deaths are not increased by wearing or not wearing a helmet. Deaths are the big, final injury. I've worked as an EMT for a hospital and you can get many long term or permanent brain injuries without dying. Perhaps there are studies on that, but I haven't seen them - only number of deaths. The debate has many facets. I don't want the government to regulate me but I also don't want to pay out of my pocket (in the way of taxes, or increased license fees or insurance or anything that the government can think up) for someone else to receive care for the rest of their lives because they decided that they didn't need to protect themselves. No matter what side of the issue you stand on, you don't have a perfect answer to the problem.
  12. Hey Carlos, Are you going to the Michigan Maintenance Day at my house in a couple of weeks? If you are, can you bring the equipment over and tune the CBs that might need it?
  13. Beleive me, lights don't do you any good when they're just not looking. A couple of months ago I was stopped in a left turn lane waiting for traffic to go by. As soon as the last car cleared I found myself shooting across two lanes and halfway up the curb. I was hit from behind. My bike's rear end is lit up like a Christmas tree but it didn't help a bit. I was lucky that the road had cleared else things would have been a lot worse than it was.
  14. Arrrg, after looking at the ad quickly I called V7Goose because the auction was going to end in 90 minutes. I then saw additional photos and the crash bar being sold is a mess. It should've occured to me since the bike being parted had all the damage on the right side. Sorry Kent, I got ahead of myself there.
  15. Don, I believe that's for a 1st Gen. If V7Goose is looking for a 2nd Gen bar then this might be more to his liking: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Star-XV1300-RIGHT-SADDLEBAG-GUARD_W0QQitemZ370069344914QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item370069344914&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318
  16. An update: I bought a pair of 2003 Saddlebags on eBay and now have a spare RIGHT saddlebag. If someone's interested, look in the classified ads on this site.
  17. I have one from here and it looks very nice on a 2003 Raspberry & Sand Venture
  18. I agree with TrainMaster that South Dakota is a beautiful riding area. That's my vote!
  19. I met another rider today who had just bought a '99 silver Venture. I gave him a Venturerider business card and he says he's interested in coming to the upcoming Detroit Metro Maintenance & BBQ next month.
  20. That's a nice add-on. Do you remember how much it set you back? Thanks.
  21. One question about the rally site... How deep will the snow be by that time of the year?
  22. Yama Rider,

I just was perusing the member list and saw your profile.

  23. Well, according to Progressive, not if it's a motorcycle. A bike is handled differently than a car. I've been rear-ended in a car and yes, Progressive had the other insurance company pay the difference and I had no out of pocket expenses. Hey, I'm alive, unhurt and can ride another day. I'm happy.
