I got it at Cycle City in Burlington. They are on Queensway drive. I am sure if they don't have your size in stock, they can get it.

I recently returned from a weekend trip up north, about 450 km each way. On my way out of town on Thurs, I saw the forcast was calling for rain on Sat, the day I was returning. So I stopped at my dealer, and purchased a Nelson Rigg Stormrider rain suit. http://www.nelsonrigg.com/pages/Rainwear-apparel/SR-6000-2-Big.htm I know I could have gotten it cheaper on eBay, but that would have meant good planning, and that was not going to happen. Anyways, the weatherman was correct and it was pouring rain for the last 250 KM of my trip home. There are 2 reviews here, and both are positive. First, the Nelson Rigg Stormrider rain pants. They are very easy to get into, even with my boots on. They have a boot strap, to keep the pant legs firmly down against your foot. There is long zipper vertically along the bottom of the pant, that you can zip closed after you get your feet out the bottom. There is an elastic around the waist, that gives you lots of room to slide your hand inside the rain pant, to get into your regular pants pockets, how do I know this? Well, I forgot the key for the bike in my pocket, and then put the rain pants on at the gas station. There is also lots of reflective striping around the legs to make you very visible. After riding 250 KM in a downpour, my jeans were completely dry. All in all, they functioned as well as I could have hoped, and a reasonable price. So, why am I only reviewing the Nelson Rigg Stormrider pants? Well, I did not use the jacket, although I did try it on for size, and it fits perfectly over my riding jacket. The reason I did not use the Nelson Rigg jacket, is I wanted to test my new Tourmaster Flex jackets waterproofing. http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?productid=248&cat=3 And I was not disappointed. Some of you may remember I recently sold my Joe Rocket jacket to Squidley, and I bought a new Tourmast Flex jacket system. The Flex has a main mesh jacket, that holds the 5 piece CE armor system, givng you shoulder, elbow and back dual density armour plates for impact, and slide protection. When worm alone, it is a perfect hot weather jacket, with FULL ventilation, that feels like riding in a T-shirt alone, similar to the Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket, while affording you excellet protection from abrasion, and the elements. There is a full outer shell that is 100% waterproof, that ZIPS to the outside, along the neck, sides and cuffs. There are ventilation zippers in the chest to allow for air flow. These zippers are waterproof when they are closed, using a rubber flap system to seal the zippers, along with velcro to keep the zipper covers closed. This system works perfectly, and the shell is really waterproof, keeping me almost completely dry. The only moisture I got in my jacket at all, came in via the hand holes at the cuff. I am sure if I had tightened the cuff flaps, that would have been solved. I was dry top to bottom. The Flex jacket is listed as "water resistant" and I am really not sure what the difference is between that and "water proof" but at highway speeds for almost 3 hours in the rain, no significant water got to me in my jacket, so that will be good enough for me. I doubt I will ever even use the Nelson Rigg jacket, as it seems like it would be overkill. There is also a full sleeved inner thermal liner, to keep you warm come the fall and cold weather riding days. All 3 units together, will certainly keep you warm and dry. I just wanted to review some new apparel that I got this year, and let you know what I found. Hope it helps. Sonny

Hi Eugene I am leaving Hamilton around 8 am (Which means I will leave by 10 am after some more sleep ) Then on to RAMA to play some cards for a few hours and then North Bay. I am just shooting up HWY 11 the way I always go, no ferry involved. Sonny

Just wondering if there are any members from North Bay Ontario here. I am going to be riding up to the Bay Thurs to Sat this week. I know it is short notice, but was hoping to meet anyone in the area. I am going to meet up with some friends up there, and do some riding on Friday. I am also meeting with the guy who is going to paint my bike over the winter, so he can get some pics and take any measurements he might need. It is the same guy who painted the helmet in my profile, and in some of my gallery pics that you have commented on, so the bike will be amazing when it is done. Anyways, if anyone is in the area, let me know if you are interested in meeting up, and riding of course. Or even suggestions for nice rides in the area would be awesome too. Sonny

Yeah thanks for the information. If it was not the K&N, then it must have been the new chrome!! So not only is it safety chrome, it is not fuel economy chrome too!!
-
Well, unless I am doing something terribly wrong in my calculations, I think I am getting about 8% better fuel economy since I installed my K and N air filters 3 weeks ago. Here is what I found happening. I run a garmin zumo 550, which has a fuel gauge, that strictly clocks mileage. You input how many KM per tank you get, and when you get to 30 miles (48 KM)left of that amount, it gives you a warning, and then shows you the closest 5 gas stations. Pretty neat eh? Anyways, I digress. Normally, I have the KM per tank set at 280. So normally, this is the order of events. Around 210 km, my fuel warning light on the BIKE blinks, and goes to fuel reserve count up, 20 km later, I have to switch to reserve, and just about that time, my zumo tells me that I am on reserve. But about 3 tanks ago, I noticed something strange, and thought it was just a fluke. The first indication I get about low fuel, came from my zumo, which is usually last. about 10 k later, my fuel light blinked on the bike. This has been the case for the last 3 tanks. From the numbers both on the GPS and the trip meters on the bike, I seem to be getting about 25 km more approx per tank, or per fill up. Now, there have been no major changes in driving, either style or substance. Have any others here found these kinds of gains? If so, I wish I had known, I would have changed my filters much earlier. No other mods have been done recently, except a chrome brake pedal, chrome oil reserve cover, and chrome billet oil cap. (Do you think chrome gives you better fuel mileage? Hmmmm....) Anyways, also for anyone thinking of changing to K & N filters, I highly reccommend it. I have had K&N in all my cars so far, and saves you tons of $$, mostly from the high cost of replacing paper filters, but now apparently from increased fuel mileage, and let's face it, with the price of gas now, every little bit helps. Oh, and for those who may have never changed their air filters before, let me give you a little bit of advice. Make sure if you are going to K&N that you read all of the instruction, IN THE K&N box. Or, you can do what I did, read below... 1) Remove the lower cowling 2) Unbolt the air boxes (both sides) 3) Disconnect the breather tube, and carb hose 4) Remove 5 screws holding both sides of the air box together (both sides) 5) Remove 2 screws from air filter 6) Remove air filter (both sides) 7) Replace air filter (both sides) 8) Replace 2 screws holding air filter to air box 9) Replace 5 screws holding air box together 10) Bolt Airboxes back on bike 11) Re-attach the air intake hose, and carb hose 12) Replace the lower cowling 13) Put relatively new air filters back in K&N box 14) Discover warning sheet stressing importance of installing the 2 rubber gaskets that came with the K&N filters to seal the filters to the air boxes. 15) Find gaskets still in K&N box start again at 1 So there ya go, sometimes reading all the instructions is the way to go!!

I currently have an HJC Sy-max helmet, and I love it. it is a modular, so the front flips up. I have also seen that HJC just released the sy-max 2 helmet, which now incorporates a slide down visor/sunscreen similar to those in fighter pilot helmets. I think I may have to get one. Sonny

Progressive Suspension Air Fork Balance Kit
Sunman replied to Maritimer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got a progressive suspension pump from Lateralvibe a while back. I have used it on teh rear shock. I am a bit hesitant to use it on the fronts, as I find that the air leaks in the rear, and apparently having different pressures in the front tubes, causes severe instability. Due to this, I am going to wait to get the fork connector setup, that way if it does leak, it will still be balanced. Does that make any sense? -
Hey all: I am sure many of you are very familliar with the biggest and most successful social networking site on the web, FACEBOOK. Well if you are like me, and you spend many hours on that site, you will be shocked to learn, that with the millions of groups facebook has, there was no Venture group! Actually there was one, for the Venture snowmobile, but not the motorcycles. So, I started one. If you search for Yamaha venture or tour deluxe you should find the group. It is open to all, and I used this site as the website link, so hopefull will just expand the VR family a bit. And of course, all my VR family is welcome to add me to their facebook. Just wanted to get the word out. Hope to see you all round cyberspace! Sonny

I have owned this Joe Rocket Meteor Jacket for almost 4 years now. It is a black on black jacket. Jacket is in great condition, never gone down. Jacket has a full sleeved thermal liner, which makes it very warm for fall or winter riding. With the liner removed, the jacket can be worn in the warmest of weather. 2 air vents in the sleeves provide much ventilation, keeping you cool, while protecting you from road rash and the elements. There is a very large exhaust vent on the back to assist in keeping yu cool and dry. Jacket has no rips, no tears. There are 2 issues with the item, the zippers on the sleeve vents are broken, I opened them 4 years ago, never had reason to close them, and they oxidized. So the vents are always open, there is velcro around them, so if you wanted to shut them, you have to just close the velcro. All other zippers are fully working with no issues. Also, some areas of the jacket are a bit sun-faded, and look a bit brown. This is because I ride, and I ride alot. I have never been on the bike without my full gear. All in all a fantastic jacket, that may save your skin one day, literally. So why am I selling it? Well, I bought the jacket about 55 lbs ago, so my "loss" is really your gain. I will attach some pics of the jacket soon. I might list it on eBay, but before I did I wanted to see if any of the group here might be interested. The jacket new was $250. I will take the first $50 OBO. PM me if you are interested. Sonny

Then I will see ya in November!
-
Wow, I should have asked if there were VR member in Vegas. I am a regular in Vegas, I was just there for 15 days June/July for the WSOP. I will have to remember to email you in Nov before I come back! Cheers! Sonny

That is not the same bag. These bags are clearly nylon shell, not even close to leather. If you look at the link in my OP, you will see what they look like.
-
I wonder if it is the same bag then. These ones by EMGO, come with a cargo net, and 2 vinyl rain covers. I do know they changed the design in 2007 as well, more reflective striping and different zippers. Maybe they changed the fabric too. I have never seen Nylon that had dye run, I thought Nylon was a solid material, the thread used to weave it is the color of the fabric. But, for the price, a bit of care is worth the effort. Sonny
-
Wow, thanks for the heads up, I will make sure that I use the vinyl cover that it comes with in the rain. I know the bags themselves are not water tight, but it does come with a proper and substantial rain cover. But I do appreciate the review.

Sorry man, all sets now spoken for. 3 sets went this afternoon.

All sets now spoken for. Thanks to everyone who got in on them. I will let you know when I get them.

I just placed a nice sized order with motorsports as well. I did the same order on yamahasportsplaza, and here is what I found. On a $500 order, motorsports was cheaper by $7, but sportsplaza was cheaper on shipping by $1. So, motorsports it is! Now we just gotta see how long all that stuff takes to get to Bob in NY.

Ok, that is 3 gone now, only 2 more remain. Speak up! Even if you know someone else who has a bike with a sissy bar, who likes to travel, makes a great gift for any bikers who like to travel.

As you know, I have the Zumo 550. I think the only differences between the 450 and 550 is the bluetooth capability, and the TTS voices. The TTS voices let the unit actually speak the street names, so instead of "Turn right in 300 metres" "Turn right, in 300 metres, on Elm Street" The reason I would reccomend Garmin, is the customer service. I had an issue with my cradle, and they sent me a new one right away, no hasssles. There is also a very big zumo group on the web you can check out reviews at www.zumoforums.com . If you do get the Zumo, I would be happy to come by and help you wire it in, I might even be able to help you solder it!!! (inside joke) Hope to see you soon buddy! Sonny

considering swicth to venture/rstd from roadliner
Sunman replied to hqgreen's topic in Watering Hole
I have a new 2006 RSTD, and I love it. Been riding it every chance I get. 5600 KM in 3 months, with 3 weeks of rain, and 2 weeks in Vegas in there too. My bike has more than enough power for me, and is nice and tight in the corners. I may be biased, but I don't think you will be disappointed with an RSTD.
