  1. The 59 reviews on the HF jack on their web site never mention that problem. By far most of the reviews are very positive. Maybe Cowpuc will chime in and tell us about his. The HF jack I looked at in the store this week looks like it has a knob on the base of the jack that releases the pressure.
  2. Brenner, You never told us just how old those tires are. How old are they? What is the date on the sidewall?
  3. The manufacturer has to be conservative in their recommendations due to liability concerns. They do not want to be sued.
  4. The Autozone lift only lifts 11". I was thinking of getting the Cowpuc special, the HF high lift. High Position Motorcycle Lift But, after measuring the arms and looking under the bike I don't know how to lift it. The exhaust pipes are in the way. Does anybody make some adapters for the Gen I Ventures?
  5. That's a good price. I paid about $83 for a Walmart AGM for my 85 ZN that was made by Yuasa. I was so impressed with the AGM battery that since then, I replaced my 10 year old 2005 Dodge Magnum RT battery with a $203 Advance Auto Parts Platinum AGM battery and also replaced my 2002 F150Scab4x4 5 year old battery with a $159 Sam's Club AGM battery. My 89 Venture bought last May had a 2 yr old AGM that seems to be doing well still. Just the freaking starter doesn't work well when the engine is hot. I just ordered some larger cables from our friend Dinky to go with the 96 starter I bought off ebay. So, now I need to get busy and change them out.
  6. My 89 wouldn't start yesterday. Today I realized I had not turned the fuel valve on!! That was the first time I had ever turned it off so maybe now it will be my routine and I will remember.
  7. Stock mufflers would cure the issue. But, it appears that you want that Vulcan. So, I say go for it! Have fun!
  8. The original tires on my 1985 Kawasaki ZN700 with 1,058 miles on it when I bought it in 2009 looked almost like new with no cracking or evidence of age. I did ride it about 300 miles, sometimes with my wife on the back, before I replaced them, but I didn't want to take the chance of having one go out. This bike was stored in a barn in Wisconsin and the cooler weather preserved the tires well. The new rear Metzler Lasertec tire I bought from Motorcycle Superstore was 5 years old when it arrived. It's still on the bike.
  9. Nice bike! I've always liked those Silverwings.
  10. Taking responsibility for our own actions is good advice for everybody. How many people do you know who blame others for anything and everything?
  11. Wow! That's interesting since mine also is maroon and I bought it from Raleigh, NC in May of this year.
  12. My 89 vin # is JYA1NLE09KA027187 Build date=8/88 Mileage=6,104
  13. Didn't I read that a 4.7 earthquake happened 12 km from Sedona?
  14. Wild turkeys can fly a little. One flew by the front of my car just over a month ago on the Savannah River Site
  15. I worked just south of Miami for over 3 1/2 years and it wasn't unusual for a group of crotch rockets to pass me on the expressway doing over a 100mph. They would race each other from point A to Point B in the traffic weaving in and out of traffic. Some of them would have their girl friends on the back. The police rarely caught them because of the speed of the bikes and their ability to go between cars. I read one time a policeman tried to catch two crotch rockets on his Harley and wrecked of course. A Harley is not in the same league as a sport bike. When they passed me, my thoughts were "God Bless Them and I hope they live to have Grandchildren".
  16. I was an avid hunter when I was growing up, mostly squirrels, rabbits, and quail. Then I got to the point I didn't want to kill an animal especially Bambi. THEN, many years later, I was working in Nebraska and one night I was headed to my AutoCAD class at Peru College and a big buck ran into my car in a 35 zone in Peru Nebraska. That is when I decided that deer were so stupid that they were meant to be eaten. I still don't hunt but I would hunt deer.
  17. Ibuprofen is the most effective pain killer for me if it isn't a nerve causing the pain such as sciatica pain. Nothing seems to help sciatica.
  18. Sounds like you chose well 19 years ago! Congratulations!
  19. Seems more and more NC members are signing up. One member lives close to Fayetteville, Hdhr or something like that.
  20. I read the article. When I opened the photos, I double clicked on them and they were large enough to read. Very Interesting Reading!!
  21. Great Story! Jay Leno was always my favorite late night talk show host. Only problem might be, driving that 707hp Challenger may be more dangerous that being in combat. I don't think I would have survived if I had it at that age!
  22. Freebird told us how to turn it off. Go to Settings at the top of the page and then scroll down and select General Settings. Scroll down until you see the option to exclude links to classifieds and ebay and turn it off.
  23. It may not be illegal but if one of those tires blows out and causes an accident that hurts someone, it makes you more liable and you will be sued. You won't be able to blame Firestone for that one. And speaking as someone who has been sued due to my son's car accident and feared that I would lose my home and everything else I owned for about a year before the case was finally settled you don't want to go through that. My insurance co. mishandled the case so badly that they ended up paying 2 1/2 times my coverage to settle the case. I hired my own separate attorney and he was prepared to sue the insurance company if they didn't pay the settlement due to their mishandling. They ended up even paying for my private attorney. I was lucky to get out of that one unscathed financially.
  24. Those P205s are 3 sizes smaller that the P235s it requires. The load ratings will be 3 sizes smaller too. I wouldn't do it. It's not worth the risk.
  25. The Kawasaki that I bought, a Walmart brand AGM which was made by Yuasa came with the acid separate. I had to add it just like the other bike batteries. So if that is not the case with yours, just keep it on a battery tender I suppose.
