  1. The 2013 seems like a good choice. However, on the F150 forum I participate in, somebody posted his ecoboost threw a rod at 22k miles. I don't think it was the truck's fault because he had had it tuned and probably beat on it pretty bad. That is the impression I got. However, his warranty was invalid since he "tuned" it and the dealer quoted $12,000 to replace the engine and the turbos that had also been damaged. Any turbo engine can be "tuned" to turn up the boost and who knows what might happen then? The 2006 5.4s have their own issues. The spark plug replacement is a major operation that usually results in some of them breaking in half and have to be extracted using a special tool. Also, some owners have problems with the VCT, variable cam timing. If it were me and those were the choices, I'd buy the 2006 if it isn't from the rust belt.
  2. When I was about 30yrs old, I broke two fingers and a bone in my left hand. The doc gave me some Demerol pills. Since I was in the habit of quaffing a few ales after work at that time, I asked how Demerol and beer mixed. He said, "FINE". One day after therapy, my hand was hurting and I took Demerol followed by a few beers and I have never been on such a happy high before or since! It's a good thing Demerol is a prescription drug.
  3. My wife and I have carry permits. She doesn't usually carry but I do. Hopefully, it is unnecessary. I never considered getting a permit until I lived and worked in Homestead, FL for 3 1/2 years. Lots of burglars go shopping at night there.
  4. Both of the pillars, between the doors and in front of the front door, are pushed in. The adjuster came today and looked at it. Said it would be 2 or 3 days before his supervisor contacted me with the news. I will be surprised if it is not totaled. The right front wheel was hit and the left front tire blew so he included two wheels in the estimate. One blown tire. Since there is only about 1/3 of the tread left, I would not put one new replacement tire on it. I doubt if they will pay for 4 tires though. I suspect it will be Monday before I hear back.
  5. Yeah, we all think we are bullet proof until.................. I hope all the tests show that you are as healthy as can be!
  6. You'll be all better in no time! Hang in there and do the physical therapy.
  7. Since it is sitting outside in the rain, I don't dare open the doors. I'm afraid they would not close. It looks like the front door is probably leaking anyway since the top is bowed out. Last night I checked Nada and blue book values and retail is just over $9k. I suspect the damage may exceed that at today's body shop prices or at least close enough to total it. I'm not sure I want a repaired car. And at age 70, I don't have the desire to get that far into repairing it myself. There could be suspension damage too since her car hit the right front tire and the left hit the curb and it wasn't just a straight curb. It was curved with a sunken crosswalk so the suspension on that side took quite a beating. There were no side air bags. The surprising thing to me is that the Lincoln's front air bags did not deploy.
  8. Yeah, When I worked contract at the Crystal River Nuclear Plant, I lived in Homossassa, FL for a year in a subdivision that exited into a 55 zone. Lots of retirees lived there and during the year several elderly people pulled out in 60mph traffic and got killed. I'm sick about my car because it had just turned over 100k miles and several Dodge forum members have 300k miles on theirs. But, nobody was hurt. I have a 2002 F150 Supercab Lariat 4x4 with 133k miles on it that I will drive now and won't replace the Magnum especially if I stay retired. My wife has a new Infiniti EX37 if we need to travel long distance.
  9. I turned into the entrance to Walmart today and an 82 yr old lady driving a Lincoln Town Car came from the exit from between two fast food restaurants and hit the gas instead of the brakes at the stop sign and knocked me into the curb on the other side blowing the left front tire. I love my 05 hemi Magnum and had planned on keeping it forever. Bought it new. It looks like it may be totaled though since it's 10 yrs old.
  10. this is the Yamaha video that shows how to adjust the front forks about half way through the video.
  11. Wishing you a quick recovery. A similar accident happened to me over 20 yrs ago. I was riding on a two lane road when it started to rain. So, I braked intending to turn around and go back home which was just a mile or so back. this was a 83 750 Virago with rear drum brake. I also just passed a home that had a clay driveway and there may have been clay on the road. anyhow the rear locked up immediately and started to swing out to the right. The bike was going down on the left so I released the rear brake and the tire caught keeping me from going down but then it was going to roll over to the right so I jammed the rear brake and the rear broke loose and I let it go down on the left. May have been okay but I stuck out my left foot like an idiot trying to catch the bike and only succeeded in catching my left foot between the road and the spinning rear wheel. I picked the bike up and pushed it into a driveway and laid down. It took a while before I could get up witout blacking out. Then I rode it back to the house bent handle bars and all. It broke my small lower leg bone clean at the ankle joint. A week in a splint and on crutches, 3 weeks in a walking cast, and they took it off. It hurt for much longer but I was lucky to get back on my feet that quickly.
  12. Glad Eileen was there to take care of you!! About a week or so after I gave blood the last time, I was in the process of switching blood pressure medications and I almost blacked out when I got up to go to the bathroom. My wife jumped up and kept me from falling. I took that as a sign that I was too old to give blood any more. My blood pressure was really low. Are you on bp meds? Any change in meds? Weight loss? Have you been doing aerobic exercises? I'm not requesting answers. Just suggesting you think about anything that may have changed recently that may have contributed to this episode.
  13. Yeah, that's a fact. When I dropped the Concours (about 670lbs), I foolishly tried to prevent it from going over which only resulted in pinning my foot under the bike. I could not get the bike off my foot. I was in the Everglades National Park by myself in a parking lot on one of the side roads. Luckily for me there was one other car there and a guy from Germany helped get the bike off. I rode it back to my apt. I could walk ok so I didn't go the doctor. My job required me to sit at a computer most of the day. That combined with the injury and my age resulted in blood clots forming in my leg. So, 3 weeks later I went to a podiatrist who took an x-ray and found my broken 2nd metatarsel and diagnosed my swollen leg immediately. After an ultrasound, I was sent to the hospital where I stayed for a day and had to take blood thinners for 4 months. I did not need a cast, just a special shoe for a while. If had been younger, probably the clots would not have formed.
  14. Wow! If all this doesn't inspire us to ride, nothing will!
  15. Thanks! It is a very risky thing to do. When you bring someone over, you sign a document agreeing to support them for 10 years whether you marry them or not and bringing someone over on a fiancé visa, you have 3 months to decide to marry them or they are supposed to go back. So, you really need to think about what you are doing and what your motivations are. Hey, we are risk takers! Right! Otherwise, we would not ride motorcycles!
  16. Here is a link that has several photos. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/watering-hole/85963-bought-1989-yamaha-venture.html
  17. I don't think the price is bad if it looks really nice in person and everything works. You can't really tell how shiny and unscratched it might be from the photos. I paid $3800 for my 89 last May that had 5,914 miles on it and is in pristine condition.
  18. I know you guys are joking around but a lot of women over there might want to come over. I know of many instances of that happening. There used to be a web site entitled internationalsingles.com I was working in Nebraska in the middle of nowhere at a nuclear power plant with no social life whatsoever when a popup appeared on my computer asking if I'd like to meet beautiful Russian women. So, I clicked on it and looked at the catalog of women who had posted. The guy who set up the site ran full page ads in English in 3 major Russian cities, Moscow, Yekaterenburg, and Omsk. After thinking about it a while I got a letter of introduction and addresses of several women (only about $11 each) and wrote to 2 of them. Both wrote back and I continued communicating with one of them of over 2 years. Finally, I decided it was time to forget about her or to go see her. So, I flew over to Omsk in Siberia and visited. Everything went very well so upon returning I eventually got everything lined up to get her over. She is a degreed electrical engineer and had a son age 11. She has been with me now for 12 years. Her son recently graduated with a degree in computer science and got a job writing programs for a company in Raleigh. It's a little different. The culture is different but it has lasted. She loves boating and fishing, but is a little reluctant to ride with me since I broke a bone in my foot when I dropped that Concours. She had never seen the ocean until she came to Wilmington, NC. Found the photo I was looking for. This was taken May 13, 2006. We've both aged a bit since then.
  19. Looks like a good bike and with that mileage, it should last you unless you ride as much as Puc!
  20. Make sure you get the walks in. There is a reason for them. Wishing you a quick recovery:thumbsup2:
  21. How are you doing Chaharly? I think you mentioned having an operation! I hope you are healing quickly and completely.
  22. So the timing belt broke and the pistons hit the valves? If that is what happened, you could be in for a new block too. I hope that is not the case.
  23. Isn't one reason for the air pressure to help prevent the shock oil from foaming on rough textured roads?
