  1. Both my cars, truck, boat, and both motorcycles need washing by those girls. Where do I go?
  2. Did you turn the fuel valve on? Did you hear the fuel pump clicking?
  3. I see a lot of money in the back of your truck! The side panels looked like they still had good vents. Those things are hard to find. All of the plastic is valuable stuff. Your bike is the same color as mine!!
  4. If you have a vacuum leak on that cylinder, it may be running too lean to fire.
  5. When I bought my 85 ZN700 Kawasaki 5 years ago, it only had 1K miles on it. The owner passed and his 55 yr old nephew tried to get it running right and ride it. He cleaned the carbs and it still ran ragged so he sold it to me. It was running ragged on 3 cylinders. I checked the spark by putting a conductor in the plug wire cap and touching it to the block. All 4 had spark. I put a bottle of Valvoline Complete Fuel System Cleaner in the tank and ran it through. Afterwards it ran smooth on 3 cylinders. I finally swapped 2 spark plugs and the dead cylinder moved with the #2 plug. It was a dead spark plug, something I've never heard of before. Runs strong now!! So, don't rule out a dead spark plug. It fooled me for a good while.
  6. The sliders shouldn't affect the idle should they? May be a vacuum leak on that cylinder. Maybe put part of a bottle of Gumout for high mileage engines in the tank and run it through. It has the same chemical in it that Chevron Techron has and it is very effective.
  7. if you are going to buy it straight out, look for individual owners. Be a lot cheaper I suspect.
  8. Now you are in the wrong forum. An 89 is a 1st gen. These bikes are getting so old and parts are getting hard to find. So, most anything you want to get rid of could be a treasure to one of us.
  9. Many tires have a tread design that sheds water turning the way it was designed. Something to consider if you use a rear tire on the front.
  10. 552 cc equates to 16.3 ounces so just use your wife's measuring cup!! Don't let her catch you!
  11. Wow! That's awesome Puc! Lots of pleasure packed miles on those Ventures! So, you've put a million miles or more on 83 and 84 Ventures!!!
  12. There is one on ebay now but the attachment brackets are not included it appears.
  13. My Kawasaki ZN700 called for 10W20 weight SAE motor oil. The second time I replaced the fork seals instead of buying the expensive fork oil, I just bought 5w30 Walmart engine oil and used it. Seems to work fine. The thicker the oil the slower the fork will react to a bump.
  14. The big trucks have to slow down on the hills. Nothing wrong with a MH doing the same as long as the engine and/or transmission doesn't overheat. After all you are carrying your house with you.
  15. Can't you sell your home when you retire and not pay any income taxes on it? But maybe it you finance the MH and deduct the interest, it may be considered a home and treated as such for tax purposes. I've lost touch on what the tax law is now on homes.

    Whine?

My 89 does not whine at all but it only has 6k miles on it. From my reading on this board I think it is a 2nd Gen Venture issue, not a 1st gen. It's also a Kawasaki Voyager XII issue. The 2002 I test rode howled like crazy. No way I was going to put up with that.
  17. Okay, let's be honest. Lots of nekkid time makes us happy!
  18. Sounds like a good parts bike for Puc!
  19. I can't speak to the Gen 2 whine but back about 2010 I was looking at a 2002 Kawasaki Voyager. This was the older style with a 4 cylinder 1200cc engine. That thing had a major whine that really turned me off and I didn't consider buying it. It only had 32k miles on it and looked nice. The owner was asking $4k for it. Then I went to the Honda Dealer in Miami and test rode a gold colored 2006 Honda Goldwing with 8k miles. It was so quiet, so smooth, so comfortable, and easy to handle in comparison to the Voyager that I was immediately in lust for it. Trouble is the dealer was asking $16,900 for it and I couldn't rationalize spending anywhere near that on a motorcycle. It took a while for the lust to subside!
  20. Geez! I bet you had to change underwear on that one!
  21. Sounds like Great News! I was thinking as lean as you are if you had heart blockages, there was no hope for us lard arses! Keep eating those burgers and ice cream! It agrees with you! Might ought to start an aerobic exercise on a regular basis if you are not already doing that. A treadmill or similar for 45 minutes 3 times a week does wonderful things for you. My rapid 50 minute walk around the subdivision keeps my cholesterol down and me feeling great. We are looking forward to reading about many more of your great adventures with Tippy and Tweeks!
  22. I owned a 2004 Kawasaki concours for a couple years. It had a vacuum operated petcock and the carbs had NO overflows. So, fairly often someone would post about the petcock diaphragm failing and the carbs needles leaking and hydrolocking the engine resulting in bent connecting rods. A bad day! I'm happy to hear that our Ventures have manual petcocks and carb overflows!
  23. I didn't know what a Boss Hoss was until I googled it. I'd rather have a Dodge Charger Hellcat!
  24. I worked in Homestead, FL just south of Miami from Jan 2010 to Aug 2013 and it was tempting to buy something there because it was so cheap with the foreclosures. However, the crime was high and if you didn't live in a gated guarded subdivision your home would be burglarized on a regular basis. It's really easy to get a carry permit there. I think they want the law abiding citizens to all be armed. I was ex-military so I didn't have to take a course and got my permit in less than 2 weeks. And the HOA fees were really high to cover the security and everything else. Plus, with the HOA came all kinds of rules about parking boats, etc. So, we didn't buy there. But I do love the weather there. The water is crystal clear and the fishing is good! Homestead is probably the worst for burglaries in FL.
  25. Wow! I never saw one with a loft before! A toy hauler wouldn't work for me because the wife will always be complaining about the gas smell from the toy.
