  1. 2000 RSV located in Schertz, TX (just outside of San Antonio). Bike would run great if not for a carb issue which I may have caused by letting the bike sit too long. The entire machine was serviced less than 2 years ago including carb rebuilds. My bad. I simply don’t ride enough. Bike has just under 100k miles, so it is about broken in. It would clean up pretty well. I now live in an RV park and hate leaving it out. I do have an excellent cover on it, tho. It needs a new home where it would get used. $2500 will get someone a good bike.
  2. Hey all, it’s been a while since I was last on here. I haven’t been riding much the last few years. About two years ago I had Big Red’s carbs redone along with all fluids changed. After all that I let her just sit long enough for, I think, the fuel to go bad. It starts but, as soon as I try to turn off the choke and/or give even the slightest throttle the engine dies. Anyone in the San Antonio area have insight for me?
  3. Thanks, but I can't make it this weekend. Have company coming. I hadn't planned to leave the bike there for more than a month. Just never worked out where I could go and get it. I'll just see how it behaves over the next week or so.
  4. First, I must say I have not been on here much in the last few years. I had a lot going on. Anyway, I was in Vegas for a year and a half and have moved back to the Austin area in Texas. My problem is that the bike basically sat in a garage for over a year. I had someone bring it to me. It acts like it's starving for fuel from an idle. Once it gets rolling it's OK. Is there someone around Austin that can help me balance the carbs and whatever else it may need? It backfires a bit when the throttle is backed off. Never did either of those things before. I have Seafoam in the tank and that seems to have helped a little. Thanks in advance.
  5. I haven't been on here much over the last couple of years. I was shocked and saddened by the news of Gunboat's passing. A great guy. Best wishes to his friends and family. I would love to be there, but now live in Vegas.
  6. Hardriver -- exactly which BFG are you running? Had a hell of a time mounting my Kumho a few years back and would like to make a change after I finally wear it out. 35K and running strong so far.
  7. Thanks Fly and Squid. I just didn't want a bunch of misc. gears and stuff jumping out at me. I wasn't sure I'd get them back in correctly. I'd take you up on it, Squid, but it's a fair run from Vegas to Cleveland. I used to be in Dallas. Plus, I have no clutch to speak of right now.
  8. OK, I was going about the task of changing the clutch slave. Problem I am facing is taking the crankcase cover off. It looks like a bunch of gears are going to fall out with it, along with the case itself being very stubborn. Anyone in the Vegas area familiar with taking these covers off without destroying everything?
  9. I agree with eusa1. I use an ipod turned to max and keep my system volume around 19-20 and it works fine.
  10. Just keep a close eye on the rear. I had 2 come apart in chunks regardless of air pressure. Seems that they don't like 2nd Gens.
  11. Done deal. eusa1 & I are swapping. Pipes, not women.
  12. eusa1 -- Sounds good to me. Where are you located? I don't recognize the state flag. The BUBs have been bottomed while cornering some. Want me to take pics so you don't get disappointed? Not visible unless you look underneath the bike.
  13. Thanks. I have BUBs that have no packing in them. I just don't like the sound. Wife does. These were on the bike when I bought it.
  14. I would like to find some stock exhaust pipes for a 2nd Gen in the Vegas area.
  15. When you turn the key on do you hear the fuel pump running? Sounds like a ratchety whir, for lack of a better description.
  16. I just put one on my 2nd gen and so far it is really nice. Having the adjustment may come in handy. Installed in about 10 minutes. Looks good and seems to be of high quality. Also, the price was $169 from a dealer and I think it was $149 on website. Really beats the higher costs of the Yammy.
  17. I got a 765t refurbished from Amazon for $179 -- even got free overnight shipping. Also got a Ram Aqua Box for those less than perfect days. Using the Ram Mount with the long arm and plan to mount it from the right side and see if I can position it just over the speedo. It's a great unit and has just about every feature you could ask for. I have always had great results from refurbished items in the past.

    Tires

SonnyBoy -- do NOT run Metzler on the rear!! I had 2 come apart and there are numerous threads on here that back that up. They seem OK on the front.
  19. Crockett -- I have that same wobble on my Kumho. When I was in Houston a couple of months ago I stopped by Gunboat's place and we looked at it. Nothing seemed out of place and we think it may just be belts in the tire that may have wandered. I have since changed the front tire and the shimmy persists up to about 25 mph and disappears. I don't worry about it any longer and i now have about 10,000 miles on the Kumho. I run about 36-38 psi. the next time I change the front tire I will try the Cobra, which is a radial.
  20. I read the thread on windshield cleaners, but here is my problem: I have been using an aerosol cleaner with a wax in it for 4 years. Does a great job, but now the shield has what I thought was etching, but now seems to be a buildup of some sort. Anyone know what I can use to get that stuff off without ruining the w/s? I can't hardly see through it at night when oncoming headlights hit the shield.
  21. Ok -- I think I am getting one of these, but can you operate it with gloves on? It's that time of year.
  22. CB option would be $0. Can't get one without it.
  23. Any 2G's left?
  24. Well, most of the HD folks around here are pretty OK. It's just when they want to play I get a couple hundred yards ahead and tap the brake light. Really chaps them. I'm sure that most of you that have gone on rides with them have notice the universal inability to maintain a steady speed. They like their own sound too much to refrain from slowing down so they can twist the throttle. When at some place with a bunch of bikes, my RSV seems to get as much attention as most of the custom jobs. 'Nuff said
