Hey we want to find a nice camping area (car and pop-up) in the chicago area. We want to go into the aquarium and end up at Toyota stadium for the Jimmy Buffet concert. We will be coming from the Cleveland area if anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated trying to keep it cheap as possible to give the kids some kind of vacation this year.

After a couple of years of nothing but work wolfie our youngest son and I are taking a vacation. We left Odessa tx yesterday and we are now in tombstone az. We made a stop in animas nm to go to what was my great grandmothers ranch which was homesteaded. The ranch is also where we put my fathers ashes. If any of you are interested I will post some pictures as we travel. we will be going from tombstone to the grand canyon then to vegas ,Yosemite national park ,yellowstone and where ever else strikes our interest. Any suggestions of your favorite places to visit and ride along our route would be great. First 2 pics are where we put dads ashes next 4 are of the ranch house area next one is leaving animas nm the mountains are in az last 2 are us at the geronimo surrender monument in apache az.

Just a thought Freebird. How about a forum where we can see top posts of the day or week. This would be for the time we are away from the VentureRider while on vacation or what ever. When we come back on line we can see what important issues we have missed.

Almost time to schedule vacation for 2009. I think I can make the Skid Inn in June no problem.Maybe another full week during the summer for a rally somewhere.I told the boss an extra week of vacation time would be nice? He was not excited. Oh well can't schedule them all. Get those events posted.

Yes, a successful delivery took place, although a couple of days ahead of schedule. Baby, mom & dad are all doing well. In fact, dad can't wait to take the baby on her first vacation ... Cheers,

We've decided where to go on our annual anniversary trip. We're heading to Mackinaw City, MI. We should be there from Monday Sept 29th to Friday October 3rd. So far we've planned to go and not much else. We're going to stay in Mackinaw City and take day trips to various places and sights in Northern MI. I know we plan to see Sleeping Bear Dunes. I haven't been there since I was a kid and my wife has never been there. I know we'll also be stopping in Petoskey, MI. My mother used to spend summers up there as a kid and I kinda want to see the place. Other than that we have no plans. October 2nd is our anniversary so that day I suppose I should find something special to do. We are both water rats. We love being on the water so if there are tour boats in the area, I'm sure we'll be on one. I kinda want to run down the Lake Huron lake front a bit. Huron is the only lake of the Great Lakes that I have not been on and I've only see it once back in 1998. Also, if anyone is in the area then we'd like to meet ya one afternoon. A meet and eat for sure. So, what's in the Northern Michigan area that is a must see or must do? Cheers and Michigan here we come!

Things have been slow where I work. I worked in a kitchen cabinet door manufacturing facility, and with the housing market being so bad, our orders are way down. After just about 11 years with the same company and working 60 to 70 hours a week, I have been using vacation time to try to get my 40 hrs. a week for some time now. I have applied at a number of different places but at 56 years old it seems not to many places want to hire you. I had put an application in with Case New Holand and was called in for an interview, and hired on the spot, of course had to wait for the background check, criminal history check and a ua, (drug check), to come back and then I was call and will be starting work on the 25th of this month. It will be an assemble position and a small cut in pay but at least I will be getting 40 hours a week and more and they have good benefits. Job is in Fargo, about 70 miles from home so will be staying there all week and be coming home on weekends. I have family in Fargo so have a place to stay. Will find a place to live closer to work after our son graduates from school, 2 years left. Lots of people I worked with didn't have any vacation saved up and are unable to pay their bills, at least I had some money saved and vacation to use and have been able to meet my bills, savings has been taking a big hit and will take a while to get back on track.

Naugh-T just got home from our vacation, and when we started out we were not exactly sure where we would go or where we would end up. We left last Sunday, and got a late start so we changed where we had already thought would be our direction. Our plan was to get away and go for a ride so we did this, by covering 2,400 miles and 8 states. We ended up riding on the Blue ridge, Cherohala, and some great roads. Not too mention some nice highways. We had a great ride and an enjoyable time, although the days were long we did not get much relax time, other than sitting back and enjoying the ride. Attached are a few pictures and a PDF file of our route. This is not exact but gives you an idea of where we travelled. Brad and Naugh-T

Took another long vacation? I got to get down there and get our 89. Wait maybe he took the 89? Looks like the 89 will be at Asheville. This 99 got some issues and just to much going on to do a rush job on the paint. The painter is leaving on vacation on his Harley anyway.

We are going to St. George on vacation for 10 days this afternoon. We are going with our friends ( he has a 06 Wing).We will be staying at their time share and should have internet. We are going to leave around 3:00 pm when they get off work and ride as far as he can then get a room and make a 2 day trip up there. If any one in the area wants to meet shoot me an email. Rod

I posted an offer to let members use my Time Share units at cost here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18368 But I also got the idea that there are undoubtedly other time share owners on this sight that might consider just swapping a week straight across without having to pay the normal trading fees? If you have a time share or vacation home that you might want to trade for a week in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, give me a shout and we can talk about it. And if I hear from multiple members, I'll even keep track of it all and maybe try to organize a mini VentureRiders vacation swap group. You may not want mine in Cabo or me yours, but who knows what other matches we might find? If enough members have an interest, maybe we can even get Don to put up a vacation swap forum here? Greetings all - just taking a few days off for a winter vacation - spending a week on St.Croix. Great weather here, but I still miss my bike! Thankfully, we do have internet connection here, so I can keep up with what is going on. The main purpose of this post is to make an offer to all VentureRider members - its been a few years since I have posted this offer, so I thought it was a good time to do it again (and my own vacation reminded me): I own several time shares, and I would be happy to let any member here use them at close to my cost for the maintenance. That would be around $800 for the full 7 day week in a 5-star luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas, a couple of hundred more if you want me to trade it for another resort anywhere in the world. The cost might be a little less, depending on the size of the unit you need). Just FYI in case you want to do a little checking on the Internet, I own units in Pueblo Bonito Rose and Hacienda del Mar (both in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico), as well as a house boat in Lake Eufalla, OK and the St. Johns River, FL. In addition to using these resorts directly, I can trade them for any of about 4,000 resorts world wide through the RCI club. My units are all floating time, so that means that you just have to decide on the week you want and I'll reserve it in your name. The last time one of our members took me up on this offer, I waited a bit too long to try to get the reservations, so I was not able to get the exact dates he wanted, but I will do my best to not let that happen again! In most cases, 3 months advance notice is plenty (often less is OK), but if you want spring break or a popular holiday, we may need up to 8 months in advance to ensure the date. I'm not trying to make money off this - just help out some of my fellow members here. The only thing in it for me is a little more flexibility to sometimes take another vacation on my bike instead of using my time shares. hi everyone gotta love the snow! Everyday its here its one less day to look at it . Any way vacation next year is a trip down skyline drive and part of the blue ridge parkway, then down to the keys. Once in florida espicially in the southern part anyone have recomendations on camp grounds?

Hi All: My wife and I are taking a vacation out west this august. The plan is to go to Yellowstone and back. It would be nice to have some member's names and phone numbers in case of problems. Or maybe we could meet some where on the way out and go out for dinner or just to ride along. I live in Ohio and have never been out this area before.
