  1. Posted a few pics of the new Ion trailer I bought last week. Been looking for a while at various makes, models & styles. Loved this teardrop style from the get-go but wasn't sure about pricing. While checking around I found a local dealer who just happened to have a demo available at a price I couldn't refuse. Here's a couple of links to web sites for those who may be interested. --- http://www.jemanufacturing.com/ http://www.golittleguy.com/cms/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,77/catid,31/ Larry
  2. I saw a silver venture with a silver trailer going out hwy 98 in Mobile today. Does anyone know who it might be? there were also several GWs with him. tew47
  3. As some of you know, we are hoping to give away another Bushtec trailer as the grand price at our International Rally in Ontario. Have you bought your tickets yet? Whether or not we are able to give away the trailer will depend upon whether or not we sell enough tickets to purchase the trailer. We simply cannot lose money to do it. On the other hand, we are not trying to MAKE any money either, just breaking even will be fine. As they did last year, Bushtec is selling us the trailer at a DEEPLY discounted price so this is a great deal for us and will be for you too if you are the winner. So...if you have not purchased your raffle tickets and wish to do so, please don't wait until you get to the Rally. Tickets are $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00 and can be purchased via PayPal to reinyrooster@hotmail.com More information about the trailer (your choice of two models) and other rally information is available at http://www.venturerider.org/irally/
  4. We've completed our second day of travels on the way to Utah. Myself and 6 other riders. We ran into a little rain just west of St. Louis yesterday. Just enough to put the suits on and then it stopped. After a stop in Blue Springs, MO last night we left early this morning and made it to Burlington, CO. The wind this morning and early afternoon was brutal. I had ridden in windy condition before, I thought, but they were just gentle breezes compared to today. It's odd to be following a bike pulling a trailer and seeing the trailer run straight with the pavement but the tow bike is angled into the wind about 5 degress. I was pushed out of my lane by the wind more than once. The last couple of hours the wind subsided and the temps dropped to about 80 and it was a very pleasant finish to the day. Tomorrow we'll make it to Grand Junction where we meet up with our wives. Dennis

  6. Does any one have a suggestion for the best wheel chock for the price that will make it easy for one person to tie a bike down. I think I need something that clamps on to the wheel and installs fairly easily into the trailer, it doesnt matter if it folds down flat ot not, as the trailer is going to be used only for storage and transport of my 1st gen. Thanks in advance for the advice everyone Brian:cool10:
  7. Here are a couple of pics of my trailer that I modified. I can have it as a stake trailer or with a cartop box on it.

  9. I have an 87 1st gen. I am trying to wire my bike for a trailer which is a 4 wire trailer. By the battery is my fuse box with brown, blue, red/white > wires. then there is another bundle of wiring that is all grouped > together very tightly. In this group there is white, yellow, pink, blue, brown with a > red line and a couple double colored wires. They are sort of tight > together. Are these the wires I need to splice into for this?--I am trying to wire in a modulite power module. Is there an easier place to splice into near the battery area where there is more room? Thanks for any and all help
  10. Does anyone know, or have they seen figures on just how much gas is saved with a V nose trailer over a regular square front unit?
  11. The PiggyBacker does not have a standard 2x2 tongue. What swivel hitch do you use for this trailer?
  12. I was thinking of getting a trailer to store my 85 VR in and trailer it down to Morro Bay ca this summer. Has anyone had any experience with the continental Cargo enclosed trailer? I was looking at the 6 ft by 10 ft model with the extra 6 inches of height. and a guy is town has one about a year old for about 2500 cdn I think these were about 4000 new around here. Is anyone aware of any issues with these trailers? Thanks for any input anyone may have, Brian :cool10:
  13. I am seeking to find out the smallest trailer that will handle hauling a 86 VR. I am currently In Pa.. will be picking the bike up in South Ga. So also seeking info on the cheapest source of a trailer that will haul it and used does not bother me.. cheap is the key word. I am attempting to purchase this with the least amount of money since once I haul it back here and then back home in Oct. (southern Mississippi) I wont be using it very often. Thanks in advance.
  14. I would like to ask you guys and gals for information on mounting a flag on my 08 rsv for the patroit guard. is there a special flag mount or is it a trailer hitch mount? what kind of hitch and where you purchased it would help. thanks. :325:
  15. I've decided to get an enclosed trailer to haul my bike and luggage and other items I take with me on the road. Any advice on which make, size, how many axels, v-nosed or regular. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Bob http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/5/5_2_110.gif http://www.smileycentral.com/sig.jsp?pc=ZSzeb114&pp=ZN
  16. OK, here's what happened. Attached my trailer to the Venture last Sat. Checked everything to make sure i was working, hitch locked, etc. Going down I-70 in downtown Columbus Ohio I hear a big bang. My wife looks back and we're dragging the trailer. I slow down very carefully and pull off. Guess what I found. The ball was in the hitch but was broken off the drawbar. Who ever heard of that happening? I'm sure it was defective somehow. My trailer was empty at the time and I was only going 60 mph at the time. Now what to do? Don't have parts with me and no extra ball. Hate the thought of leaving the trailer alongside the road for any length of time knowing it may get thrown in the back of a pickup while I'm off getting a new ball. Luckily we were at an overpass. I saw a drain hole and lo and behold there's a rebar running through the whole. I was able to cable the trailer to the rebar to at least feel like I had done something to secure it, and we were only a 1/4 mile from the next exit. Two blocks down was a U-Haul dealer where I bought a new ball. Within 1/2 hour I was back hitching the trailer back up to the bike and running down the road. Moral of story? I'm not sure you could ever know the ball shaft would be snapping clear off. But thankfully I had bought new safety chains and they kept the trailer with the bike. That's good since there was a car only about a car length behind me when the thing let lose. I wouldn't have been able to cope with it if my trailer came lose and someone else got hurt. So please make sure you ALWAYS have safety chains. I know several people who don't want to mess with them. the only damage is a couple spots on front of the trailer that must have hit the road soemhow. That's much better than personal injury. I was going to get the bottom half of the trailer painted sometime anyway. Now it'll just take a little body work. Guys, be careful out there. God is good!
  17. I think I've settled on buying a "Cyclemate Zephyr." There's a lot of opinions on trailers and I was just wondering if anyone has this trailer and how it will pull with a second generation Venture?? Also, will there be many trailer vendors at Spring Fling???? Eddie Flinchum--Winchester, Ky.
  18. Ok I need Help I'm looking for a cargo trailer to pull behind my '07 venture there are so many out there I don't know where to start. Will be using it mostly for hauling groceries and camping gear. Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive one and give me an idea of what hitch and wiring I need. I'm so confused!
  19. A local dealer has the "Road Runner" series trailers for sale. He says the size is large and larger, whatever that means. He says they normally sell for $2400-$3000 and he'll let me have either size for $1500.00. I just don't know much about this trailer. Seems to have some extra's on it. I'd appreciate any help you can give on this. Thanks, Eddie Flinchum--Winchester, Ky. 2007 RSV
  20. Strange things are happening! I was on the Meijer website to order photos of our new granddaughter. I knew I only had one folder that I had downloaded. When I got on there , I saw a photo of a motorcycle trailer. Well, we do not have a trailer, so I open up the folder and I found photos of this couples vacation to Colorado. The odd thing was this couple own a black cherry Venture. I just wondered if anybody knows them and if they are members here. I know they are Star Members and they live in Texas. They could PM me and I will be glad to explain why I have their photos, but actually I cannot explain it.
  21. Hey Guys! Spring is here and it's time to put the finishing touches on my new trailer set-up. The next step is to install a nice cooler rack. I found one which looks like a good at: http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/new_cooler_rack.html So far, this looks like the best deal. However, it's always a good idea to check lots of options and see what other people recommend. I had one idea that I don't know exactly how practical it is, but I think that it's do-able. I would like to figure out a way to be able to set-up the cooler rack so that I can use it with my trailer, or remove it and use it solo as just a hitch attachment. If this can't be done, then I would just like to get one to install on the trailer arm. Then, maybe I'll get another one to use solo. So, what do you suggest? What do you like? I don't want to spend crazy money on this, but I want to be satisfied. Are there any special considerations I should be aware of, or is it just a simple matter of attaching it and that's it? Thanks for the help! Pete.

    Trailer D-Ring

I'm picking up my '07 Royal Venture Wednesday and I'm getting my trailer ready. I've got the wheel chock and front D-rings installed. Can anyone tell me how far back do I install the back D-rings? Thanks.
  23. I was reading one of the other threads that brought up a question... Has anyone ever tried to get a color match at an automotive parts store or other vendor to match the Venture, and did the color match up well? I've got a white trailer and just can't justify spending $500 on a paint job. Has anyone painted their trailer to match their bike and have any pointers for doing so?
  24. Just an FYI for anyone wondering about pulling a trailer with the 2nd Gen - I built the cheap Harbor Freight utility trailer a while back for general use and to occasionally haul my dogs (the kit is about $125 with 8" wheels). I didn't do anything special except make certain the frame was exactly square when building it. Up 'till now, I have only used it for relatively short trips locally, but yesterday we decided on the spur of the moment to take a trip up to Oklahoma - no plans to have someone take care of the dogs, so I strapped the travel crate onto the trailer and took off. After 500 miles, I am thrilled at how well this little utility trailer tracked behind the bike. I decided that I would not pull it over 70 MPH, but it pulled so effortlessly that I had to use the cruise to keep from having the speed creep up when on the highway. I absolutely could not tell this thing was there at anything over 15 MPH - and even under that, the only issue was some noise from the hitch rattling when I hit a bump. Even with a fairly stiff crosswind, the trailer was unaffected. This little trailer may be ugly, but it sure is a great deal for the price! Goose
