As hard as it is to sell a bike these days I'm going to try something different. I want to do some trading. I just posted my 2006 Road Star Midnight, with photos, in the Classifieds section under "Other Motorcycles". I'm wanting to do a Solo Star Glide to go along with my '07 RSV so i'm hoping there may be a member here with a Venture that's wanting to trade for a Road Star. I'm open to any year 2nd Gen. but I would rather it be a similar year to my Roadie so neither of us has to pay much difference but I won't let that stop me if I need to. Well, let's see what happens!

I purchased a 96' royal star tour classic that has the four individual pipes and was wondering if I could install a newer set of two into one exhaust from a newer bike such as a royal star tourer deluxe or venture. I know I might have to modify some but I can do. Thanks for info. Or where I might find some slip ons for what I have. Anyone Know????

I am looking for opinions from you Venture guys. I currently have an 06 Road Star, BAK, V&H Shortshots, Mustang, and a bunch of other bits and pieces of chrome. I have an older gentleman that is wanting to trade his 99RSV straight across for mine. Now, I love my Road*, but was looking for a Venture (or some other full dress bike) when I bought it. Here is how he describes his bike: "99RSV,51k miles good rubber, runs strong, Dyna3k ignition, K&N filters, www tires (Metzlers) Road king mufflers, plus stock, passing lamps, visors, clear lenses. CB, am/fm, tape deck, criise control all work flawlessly" The 51k is what worries me as mine only has 15K. I am wondering if this would be a good deal for me or if I would be better off keeping the Road*?

I am just getting back into riding after a very long dry spell. I have bought a 96 Royal star tour classic. The problem that I have is that the heel toe shifter is not long enough for me to place my foot in between the heel and the toe. Therefore I have to place my foot outside of that area. The second is that there seems to be alot of play from left to right in the shifter. May because of wear since its a 96. Does anyone know of any after market toe shifters that will accomodate a size 12 boot? It also seems like the shifter is so close to the side of the roll bar that its hard to put your whole toe on top of the shifter. My thought was to take it to a shop and have it extended, maybe have them fill the hole with a weld (where it mounts on the shaft) and then redrill a new opening. Any comments? Thanks PJ

After removing the trunk I took my first good ride sunday on some good twisties! The C/T feels alot better than before. I didn't feel like I was drifting in the turns like before. I think the extra weight off of the bike made the tire more stable. I put over 5K miles on the tire with the trunk and couldn't get the feel but after one day without it I'm thinking of staying on the darkside with the star glide. http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/MARKANDBINA/starglide001.jpg

Looks like we are going to have to change out the clutch on my son-in-laws 1996 Royal Star, can any of you tell if it the procedure and parts will be the same as for the Venture? Thanks.

Well we have all been hearing me talk about going to Houston....it just took 1 step closer to being done. I had the POD delivered today, 5 days early and we are going to start packing it tomorrow. Seems a bit surreal and Lonna and I are both under a bit of stress right now, but I'm hoping that the Lone Star state will help cure that. So for all our brothers and sisters down in Texas....were almost there

I bought a plain royal star in 1996, and dressed it up from there, the way I liked it. I was single at the time, and spent quite a bit of time on the bike. Well, I met Beth, we hit it off, she wanted and deserved a better ride(air ride, tunes, intercom, comfy seat and backrest) and besides, the extra horsepower, looks, and electronic cruise did not hurt my feelings either. Couldn't afford to keep both, so I sold the royal star to a friend of mine, but said that I'd love to have it back if and when I could afford it. He traded it in on a Kawasaki Vulcan touring model, and I lost track of the bike, but was told by the dealership that he traded it in at that the fellow that bought it lived in a small town called Coboconk, which was about an hour and a half away, at the time. I always watched for the bike, hoping to meet the new owner, but it just did not happen. We moved back to the Windsor, ON area, and it's been 5 years since I've seen the bike. Well, guess what? While cruising the SCRC sites of the Ontario chapters, I found my old bike, and it WAS for sale. WAS being the key word, because today the most recent owner and I came to an agreement on my purchasing my royal star back. Isn't that something? What the heck are the chances of that happening??? Gotta love my wife, she is letting me go through with this. We are going to travel about 6.5 hours next Sunday and pick it up to bring back home!!! Here's a link to the pic of the bike that he had posted...... http://forums.delphiforums.com/Durham261/messages/?msg=1729.1 Isn't it sweet? So, now I have two royal stars in the garage, my old 96 plain jane, and the 04 Midnite Venture. I am certainly one lucky son of a gun!!! gunky

I have seen this many times and I've been on the Yamaha site trying to figure it out and cannot seem to find it so I'm just going to ask. What is the difference between the "Royal Star Venture" and the "Royal Star Venture S"?

I've been seeing threads lately (here and on my Road Star forum) about the cracking on Avon tires. I had put Venoms on my Road Star when I first bought it (My pre-Darkside era. ) so I decided to take a close look at my Venoms. The front was fine but the rear had the small cracks that are parallel to and all the way around the rim. Anyway, I emailed Avon about the issue, mentioning the forums and the photos I had seen here. They ask me to take it to the dealer that I bought the tire from because they had to work through them. I rode it over at lunch one day and let the dealer look at it and gave him the Avon rep's info. As soon as I walked back in at work I had a call from the dealer. He had already called Avon and was calling to say a new tire was on the way. I checked email when I got of the phone and there was a message from the rep at Avon saying the same thing. I had my new tire installed Friday at no charge for the tire but the dealer did charge for the install. Overall I think I came out pretty good.

Yamaha Billet Passenger Floorboard Backing Plates Smooth http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/STR-4NK27-03-01_150.jpg I had to edit this because ALL the Yamaha Dealers show a picture of the Tour Deluxe Plates for the RSV with an extra hole for the Ignition Switch on the left side. The only site with the right picture is Cruiser Customizing. Mine DO NOT have the extra hole and are the Smooth ones only. Near as I can tell these fit all RSVs, Royal Star Standards, and 96/97 RS Tour. If you don't have your ignition switch on the left plate these will fit. Otherwise you'd have to drill a hole for the ignition and would compromise the chrome. (not recommended) Here's the link to CruiserCustomising with reveiws. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=6&manufacturer_ID=165&product_ID=3135 I have a bunch of these for sale and will be listing them on eBay for $75-85. I will sell them to members for $65.00 shipped in USA. They are all new and are the smooth model. Some of the packaging/cardboard is a little funky but the plates are not affected. I take Paypal and/or checks, my e-mail is theeddys@fairpoint.net I will consider trades and could use a new kickstand. I also have saddlebag guards for the Royal Star and a couple of Royal Star chrome rotor covers. I'll be away in Durango, Co for a week ... leaving Labor Day thru Sat.

For those who don't know, Star Touring is having it's SE Star BQ in Charleston this weekend. Those in Star Touring already know that. But a welcome to those who don't. The overall event does have a registration fee but to come by if free! It's at the Embassy Suites parking lot in North Charleston (near I-526 and I-26). The Yamaha truck will be there for demo-rides. Ultimate seat, Thunder Mountain lighting (Custom Dynamics), Amsoil, more,, and food vendors. Friday PM or Saturday, drop by and see what's happening. Most stuff does not require registration. (The Saturday BBQ and auction do, not sure about the Sat main ride.) There is a ride to the VA leaving at 7:30 AM Sat. You may also run into a few hundred of your best friends!!!! Join us if you can.
