  1. We had two on a motorcycle killed Wednesday when an SUV came around a curve and sideswiped another vehicle and then hit a motorcycle head on. I have not seen any more details, but I was just thru that same road Saturday. The Smokey Mountain area is a wonderful place to ride a motorcycle, but sometimes your paying attention is just not enough. RandyA
  2. Just returned from WARiders house (Sean). What an awesome individual! I learned how to synch the carbs on my RSTD and it makes a super difference. The bike runs smoother, mid to high RPM is like glass and I didn't notice the customary "pop" when I shifted gears. Not only did I return to my house with a better running motorcycle I made a new friend as well. Thanks a million Sean for showing me how easy this procedure really is. Now to try and squeeze in some rides before the good weather leaves the PNW. :clap2::thumbsup2:

  4. Murder Charge in Motorcycle Crash Murder Charge in Motorcycle Crash Published : Wednesday, 12 Aug 2009, 2:02 PM CDT A Haltom City woman is charged with murder for her involvement in a deadly crash. The incident happened on Tuesday in the 5800 block of E. Belknap. According to police, Tammy Sue Stegall's sedan struck a motorcycle being driven by 56-year-old Billy Ray Stroud of Bedford. Stroud later died at John Peter Smith Hospital as a result of the injuries, police said. Family friends said Stroud had recently buried his son, who was killed July 30 in Afghanistan. He bought his motorcycle about a week ago after seeing the Patriot Guard motorcycles at his son's funderal. Stegall, 50, was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter. The charge was upgraded to murder because she had two previous DUI convictions, police said. She was in jail on Wednesday on a $500,000 bond.
  5. I am posting my motorcycle for sale here on the forum. I will take reasonable offers. I hate not being with a motorcycle but it's safer that way. Reasonable offers accepted. You can see it in the classified. It is a great running motorcycle.
  6. This is happening waaay too much!!! Please pray for James. James had a motorcycle accident today at about 3:30 on Transit Road near Sheridan Drive. A tire blew and he tried to compensate the next thing he remembers is being in the ambulance. We think the motorcycle flipped. He is in ECMC with 8 broken ribs, his lung collapsed but is Ok now, a broken collar bone and a fractured shoulder blade. Please keep him in your prayers and maybe cheer him up with a visit when you can...he should be in the hospital for a few days

  8. http://www.ridinon.com/archives/2009_02/2009_02_p16.jpgThis past Sunday we were riding in Indiana and met this unique motorcyclist with a very unique motorcycle. Here are photos. There are 67 silver dollars that all date back into the 1800's.I of course, did not bring my camera. I will try to get better photos when I see him again. He lives in Guilford, Indiana. http://www.ridinon.com/archives/2009_02/2009_02_c01.jpg
  9. There like motorcycle batteries only smaller. They are marked 12 V 0.4 Amps. What would you use them for? I have access to about 15 of them. I'm sure they are worth something to somebody, But, who would need them?

  12. See this link http://www.gizmag.com/page/6/ about half way down the page to see a photo MOTORCYCLES Yamaha set to launch hybrid production motorcycle for 2010 By Ben Purvis 02:35 June 22, 2009 PDT Back in 2005, Yamaha showed the wacky 2005 Gen-Ryu hybrid concept bike at the Tokyo Motor Show amidst a raft of other very non-conventional two wheelers such as the aptly named FC-Me fuel cell bike, the ingenious Deinonychus elec tric reconfigurable motorcycle, the Chivicker, Passol and the Maxam two-wheeled limousine. Now it appears certain the bike will become a showroom model in 2010. A series of patent applications detail the new motorcycle which uses the YZF-R6 600cc engine to turn a generator which in turn powers the rear wheel. History shows that every Yamaha styling patent published over the last 20 years has resulted in a full production machine, so there's little doubt this one is also heading for a showroom near you in the very near future. You can expect to see it in the flesh for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year. Read More
  13. Hello motorcycle brothers and sisters. Iam new to this forum so please be gentle. I own a 1998 royal star tour deluxe with 12,500 miles that i bought used last year. It has a shudder while shifting through the gears on hard acceleration and in od on moderate to heavy acceleration from 50 mph. The clutch is not slipping has plenty of power but shudder's,you can feel it in the seat and handle bars. Did not know if this is nature of the beast for that year or if i am having issues. It has done this from day one. Any help on this would fantastic or if anyone else has had this problem.
  14. I bought some brake pads to go on my motorcycle, but I don't need them right now. Do I need to lay them flat or hang them up in order to keep them from warping? Or would it be better to just take them back since I might not need them to next year? Thanks tim
  15. My rear tire, a Metzeler ME880. 8 or so of the lugs are starting to lift. The damage is visible inside the carcass as raised lumps, but they are too slight to photograph. These tires were on the motorcycle when I bought it so I don't know if they were abused or the mileage. They have about half the tread left.
  16. I purchased a motorcycle jack from Pep Boys some time ago and have not used it as yet. Yesterday I slid it under my 2004 Venture R/S; I couldn't find a place to position the jack that might not cause damage. Also, is there something on the undercarriage that shows the center balance for my bike?
  17. Last Saturday, Jan and I rode down to the 8th annual Rat Fink Reunion. It's held each year to remember Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and you get some pretty interesting cars. This year our two oldest grandsons rode on the back of our bikes and threw the candy to the kids lining the parade route. They had a great time. The younger was celebrating his 4th birthday. A friend of mine made a set of motorcycle handlebars that mounted in place of the Utopia backrest I have. It worked great as he's squirmy and this help keep him boxed in. My daughter took some great pictures Dave
  18. News reports indicate the motorcycle rider was looking at a previous crash and listening to an IPod. Still waiting for word as to his condition after this scary accident. http://www.kirotv.com/news/19621668/detail.html
  19. I am sorry to report that as of June 1st, the discount from Motorcycle Superstore has been discontinued. I know that many of you had used it and hopefully there will be something else in place soon. Here is the notice that I received from them today. Hi Don, Due to the manufacturers MAP policy (minimum advertised price) we are no longer allowed to offer general group discounts. However, there are a few brands and exclusive items that are separate from the MAP policy. So yes, I will be sending you a new sort of code, but it will be item and/or specific, which unfortunately isn’t as enticing as a general coupon, but I will do my best to make the offer as enticing as possible. Unfortunately there will be a small delay, I apologize, but I will be in touch as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding.
  20. The South Carolina Dept of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is trying to make available a new license tag available to Honorable Discharged Veterans. They are making one available for cars and one available for motorcycles. For each, they need 400 applications received to the DMV soon. They only have about 70 MC applicants as of the end of March. If you are licensed in SC and are interested please follow the link below, then click to download the "MOTORCYCLE" form. You will send it in with $5 to "pre-apply". If they do not get the 400 they will return you money. I believe the special tag fees are lower than typical vanity tags,,, if at all. The tag is displayed on the link site, it is blue background, says VETERAN and has a star. Not the coolest looking tag out,,, but says you served. (see below) I was not in a war zone (but I did kept the Viet Cong out of Witchita!), so this tag is for me, a vet who supports others. If you cannot download the form, I can email a PDF copy to you (I went by the Hwy Dept and got one). Link: http://www.scdmvonline.com/DMVNew/default.aspx Click on the MOTORCYCLE form MV37B. http://www.scdmvonline.com/DMVNew/images/VetPlate.jpg
  21. I could use advise from anyone who has wired up trailer lighting for there venture. I purchased an Aluma MCT motorcycle trailer that is wired with 5 pin. It is the standard motorcycle hook up with seperate brake/tail lights. I plan on installing the 5 pin female plug on the bike and tieing into the RSV wiring under the seat where the manufacturers plug is for the rear lights. Is anyone aware of a plug and play type adaptor available that you can plug into the existing plug under the seat to avoid splicing/soldering into the existing wires? Has anyone made up a bracket to attach the plug to the bike and if so where did you mount it? I thought about mounting it just to the left of the licence plate as it is up out of the dirt and water. Will the existing lighting fuse handle the additional LED lights on the trailer with out any problems? As always any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. JR
  22. Well.. this should be interesting... My wife and I are going to take our first trip camping with the motorcycle. Going to load up the trailer and the bags, and take off for about a 4 hour ride. Two nights of camping, along with a float trip down the James River next weekend for the holiday... I'm used to camping, but this should be interesting loading up the trailer for the first time. Never pulled a trailer with a bike before. Have lots of years and miles under my belt, or I wouldn't be attempting it.. I intend to load it up and pull it around for a couple evenings to get the feel of it, and to figure out how to best load our gear into it... This is kind of a small "feeler" trip for a 4 day rally we will be going to in PA... Try and sort out the things we don't know, figure out what we'll be needing that I forgot (it's been a couple years since I've been camping, and need to replace some gear and such) and hopefuly all will go well for the big trip in about 3 weeks... If anyone feels like passing out tips.. I'm all ears..
