  1. It is supposed to be down to around zero F here in the next couple of days so yesterday evening I thought I had better check the antifreeze in all my vehicles. The first thing I had to do was run over to Walmart to buy another checker as I could not find the one I had. I figured as I was there I would buy a gallon of antifreeze. I still can not let myself buy the 50/50 mix and pay almost the same price as regular. And, I always keep a gallon or so of distilled water on hand. Everything checked good, but one of my Maximas was almost 2 quarts low. I must have a leak somewhere, but I have not noticed it marking it's territory. So, when the weekend gets here and the really cold temperatures, I will just snuggle down and stay in. RandyA
  2. Is it possible that a "Wanted To Buy" section could be set up here on our Site? Yes I'm looking to buy a Venture part !
  3. I love motorcyling a lot. That being understood, what is the big deal about the " burn out" where you blow up your rear tire. I do not understand that at all. For practical reasons, you have to buy a new tire, you have to go through the fun of putting the new tire on. I just do not get it, please explain. Thank you, Yama Mama
  4. Mine went south and I do not have a spare. I would be willing to buy or trade for what you may need.
  5. hi bill & linda i don't look at it as you failed the kids. you have been doing this for years. kay jewelers has been doing a lot of tv adverising here in houston, but i never seen anything about buy a bear and they would send it to st. jude's. it's a shame that they want you to buy something else ( plus buying a bear ) in order for them to send the bear to st.jude's. shame on them i will now not ever set my foot inside their store/s. I FEEL A TEDDY BEAR RUN COMING UP. any one game? i'am willing to buy some teddy bears and make the trip to st. jude's. but i will not have any more vacation/ floating holidays off till january 1. but i am ready to do this. i can possible put 50 or more teddy bears in my trailer to pull behind the scoot. and if need be i'll drive my pickup i have a shell covering the bed. how many bears do we need? sorry brad & lonna will have to miss the michigan m&e if we can put this together. let me know bill. best reguards don c.
  6. Hi all, I went to start my Venture up today an noticed something bad, the kids have been messing about with my Venture and broken the bottom 3 buttons:yikes: Anyone know where I can buy the missing arts, if indeed I can, or does anyone have some spare, please:smile5:. Thanks all, Woz.
  7. I wonder how many people pay attention to where the item they buy comes from. I dare anyone to go to Wally world and pick up 10 items at random and get over 10% made in the usa. That means 90% made out of states. Many times I've put something back on the shelf and refused to buy it because it's made in china. What say the other smart people here?? www.ridingformissions.com
  8. I'll start by saying that I know nothing about GPS other than what I read on this site. So, here goes. I noticed that several stores in my area have GPS units on sale for $99 to $199. everyone is going on about what a bargin some of these units are. Now I never knew that I wanted GPS until the word bargin came into the picture. Question is does the unit have to be specific for motorcycle application? Can I buy one of the $99 units, buy some type of mount, plug it in (Venture plug) and go or is there more to it. Seems a bit to easy...... Thanks, Kenny:fingers-crossed-emo
  9. well i got my wing on the road this morning with my totally reworked racetech forks. what a difference in the ride. disabled the antidive with the mod and it really handles the washboard bumps now. really made a noticable difference. did anyone ever wonder why we can buy a new car and don't have to buy seats, modify suspension so it rides and handles right, change the steering wheel so it's more comfortable, etc. if any one should be able to build a perfect bike it ought to be the japenese. please don't let this go political. bill
  10. Boy, with the way the raffle tickets are being bought up, must be a few folks out there that are looking for a new trailer. SO, if you want to get in on the early sale of the tickets, just let Cinderella know. Tickets are still only $10.00 each or 3 for $25.00. And just like voting... buy early, buy often.
  11. If I buy this bike is someone near that can hold until I can get it I will pay for the service. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-XVS12-1983-Yamaha-Venture-needs-work_W0QQitemZ130268423913QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item130268423913&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  12. After seeing a huge difference in what my dealer wants to sell a pair of tires for and what I can buy them for through Dennis Kirk and others I was wondering if there is anyone out there who does their own tire changes, and if so what you use for tools and irons to break the bead and mount the tire. Also I can't remember if the colored dot goes with the valve stem or opposite it. Now some will counter with "buy the tire and have him mount it". $50 to do each tire if I supply, $16 when buying his. I have changed 2 and 3 pc. truck rims and I have even done a couple of tubless 24" truck tires. I am concerned about damaging the rim with pry bars on the motorcycles.
  13. Rebuilt the clutch on my RSV yesterday. After getting it back together I thought I would crank and do a warm up to check for leaks before putting the Stebel horn back on in case I had to go back in. Starter button only buzzed and the radio keep turning off. I checked my battery purchase date and it’s a year and half old so I go buy a new one. Yikes the problem is still here! Guess what? The Stebel mount bolt is a needed ground so after getting it back on all is well. Out some misery and 80 bucks but I have a new battery. LOL
  14. Two questions: Has anyone ever used both. I have been using E3s with good luck but, need to replace the rear @ 11.5K not bad, but could be better I think. The front has over 50% remaining. I just wondered if anyone could say which one lasted longer for them. Two I know a few posters on the site have said they've purchased the HF tire changer w/mc tire option. What's your opinion? Worth it and did you buy a mc tire balancer as well or how are you balancing your tire/wheels? I'm mechanically inclined, but also don't want to spend money on those and then go back to taking the wheels to the shop to change them out. Thanks for the advice.
  15. I decided not to buy 2007 venture for $11,000.00. If anyone else here is interested in this bike, it is an awesome deal. The bike is blue, with only 503 miles on it! The bike is in Florida. If your interested, let me know, I can give you info on it.
  16. looking to buy a colortune,two brands,GUNSON,MORGAN,witch one works the best:confused24:
  17. My father-in-law has a 2002 Electra Glide Standard Harley with the touring pack and wants an intercom system for it. It is not set up for a intercom. What all will he need to hook one up? It just has a plain radio. If he gets an Autocom and buy the helmet speakers is this all he will need? Is there anyway to wire your radio thru this system? Thanks
  18. I replaced the pooched CD player in my trunk with another Clarion unit. The original was a Clarion DC625 but the used one in plugged in is a Clarion DC605. It skips and goes into error unless I am parked; then it plays okay. Did I buy a crappy POS or does everyone have this problem? I don't want to buy another used DC625 unit and just have the same problem. 2000 Royal Star Millenium Venture Thanks PKslice
  19. Will a 2007 windshield for a Royal Star Venture fit on a 1999 Royal Star Venture? Also I am new to this website and was wondering how the classified section works. Do you have to call the person and let them know what you want or do you have to click the Buy It Now? How does the Buy It Now work? I have bought alot of things off ebay, but wasn't sure if this works the same way. Thanks hairman
  20. I bought a V-star after 25 years of non-riding. I discovered I still love riding and surprisingly so does my wife of 2 years. I say surprisingly because she had never ridden before I bought this bike. We like it so much that I thought about buying a RSTD for more comfort on longer trips. In fact I had fallen in love with them until I found one that I thought was a good buy. It was an '05 with 4K on it. I had the money in my pocket and was ready to buy until I test drove it. It had a loud whine every time I gave it the slightest bit of throttle. I ran from it, but after reading up on it on the internet it seems to be common with this bike. My question is, if you have this whine do you get used to it, or does it finally drive you crazy? Jim
  21. Looking to buy 2009 map upgrade for my street pilot 2610. Has anyone upgraded their Garmin ? Is there a place to buy the maps at discount pricing? Regards Dave
  22. I'm looking to purchase a cover for my 08 Venture. There are so many, can someone please suggest a good one, and where I can buy it? Thanks
  23. On my RSV I have the Air Vents that attach to the crash bars. They are tinted plastic mounted to the crash bars. One of mine is cracking and I dont think I can buy the plastic portion. Maybe I can but I cant find it. I am looking for the plastic on the Left side. I dont want buy a whole new set at 200 bucks. I will make a new piece if I can but really would rather just buy one. Scotty
  24. I have looked through the factory service manual and stared at the bike with all the trim off and I cant find it. Where is the coolant/engine temp sensor? My gauge is jumping all over and I want to check the connections before I go out and buy a replacement sensor.
  25. Anyone else have this problem? The black insulation of the lower coiled cable that comes off the helmets at each end near the connectors is splitting revealing the colored wiring inside. Everything still works fine, but I have had to wrap each with electrical tape. I am going to buy new cables but don't want to just repeat the problem. Is there a vendor that has a better cable? Should I make a modification that would better protect this area? Is Edsets a good place to buy these items? Iowa Guy
