okay folks ,i need some ideas for the design on the eureka springs meet t-shirts,as far as color, and what to put on them.i want every one to be happy with their shirt.and i think every one who attends and buys a shirt and matching patch should have some input.i'm getting an early start on this so we don't have alot of controversy at the last minute.not to mention i'm getting excited about this meet.i am going to have shirtznthings do the shirts and once we decide on a design every one can go on line and order their own size and quanity.allan h. said this is the best and easiest way to do it.so give me some input, and i will take it and run.i have a professional artist to do the design,(my big sister)so what ever we pick will be very professional.no 1rst gen ,2nd gen pictures, will be allowed.bill

I could buy another first gen with that. Ahhh I hope it's not family I catch.:rotf::rotf:Yammer Dan you got any vacancies down there?

Replacement Battery 1st gen
Fvogt posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
While doing some searches for a stronger Battery for my RS Warrior I came across this. http://www.batterystuff.com/batterySearch.php?theType=Motorcycle&theMake=Yamaha&theModel=XVZ13%20Venture/Royale&theYear=1986&m=1#result I have been ordering my batteries from these people for several years and have had good luck with them. They have added a new battery to the ones used for the first gen Venture. It is the bottom one and delivers 350 CCA, which is 25% more then, the top one that I normally buy for just $10 more. They ship free from Oregon via UPS or USPS to anywhere in the lower 48, Sorry Canada, Alaska, Hawaii. Thought this might help someone Fred -
Whine/Chirping - 2nd Gen vs 1st Gen
jryan posted a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've got an 89 VR. Looking to buy 06 RSV from dealer 2000 miles away. Had a friend go check it out for me...he's used to riding a Honda Shadow...never ridden a Venture. He said it was great except he noticed when in 4th gear at about 45 mph he was hearing what he called a gear whine...kept going until he shifted. Said it happened at in 3rd also. Said it wasn't unbearable but was noticeable. The bike has had the clutch basket replaced (which the original owner told me helped a LOT). I think the 1st gen & 2nd gen engines are basically the same engine. I've read all the threads here about the whine & chirp and now I'm leary of plunking down the money if it's something that's overtly noticeable. I'm wondering if I would notice that whine as much myself, since I've ridden my VR for 17 years & am used to that engine (never noticed anything myself). Any ideas? Thanks for the help...JR -

One of our members Dakotasport is parting out a second gen he has some parts listed here and he's got some listed on ebay. I just had to spread the word. One to help out a fellow member and two to let all those 1st gen owners know they are starting to part out the 2nd gens. Now mind you I'm not much. Margaret

I bet I missed the boat on this one but I just got to sit down and read the Americade Times. That is the magazine that the send covering the prior years Rally and gives infomation for the upcoming ones. Anyway there is a really nice 2nd Gen on the front. Red/Marooon. Who's is it? They are now a superstar. I like the point that it is originally a Goldwing Rally and they gae full representation to the Beloved 2nd Gen!! They are finally seeing the light!! LOL

Hi Guys, I'm usually over on the 1st gen side of things, but I have a buddy who wants a driving light bar for his RSV and his wife asked me where to get one. What are the choices out there? Where have you bought them and for how much? Thanks, Jeremy

Does anyone all the carburator jet sizes for a 1st Gen for 86-93? Thanks Jim.

Looking for another bike. I like the idea of the V4 over the Goldwing or Voyager. Are all 1st gen Ventures prone to the 2nd gear problem or just some? If just a few years, what years should I stay away from? Any other problem areas I should check when looking at one? Thanks , Mike

I remember someone here selling the lowering bracket for 2nd gen passing lights for easier fairing removal. Now I cant seem to find any info on them. Are they still being sold, or does anyone have one they want to sell?

There is a 1st Gen for sale at a car dealership on the southside of Sebring, FL. It looks like it is gold in color. If anybody is interested in it. I'll be down that way on the 27th of Nov. and I will check it out. Ken:stirthepot:

Last week I had a rotational knocking sound between 5 and 10mph and a wobble on hard acceleration.Well I took the rear wheel off today to find the problem and I found that the wheel bearing at the differential was Gone and the drive cog in the differential was loose. Would a second gen still have gotten me home from a 300 mile run at 80 to 90 mph? Here are some pics of what I found and what the parts should have looked like The bike was still pulling strong and had very little symptoms. Jeff

I was wondering if anyone has ever placed a different speaker in their 2nd Gen. Venture. If so, what kind? Thanks.

I am relatively new to this sight and I have seen a pattern of distain emminating from most 1st gen owners toward 2nd gen owners. I thought we all shared the common interest of riding Yamaha's. Am I wrong? Every time there is a post about a problem with a 2nd gen, some 1st gen owner has to chime in with "...you should've bought a 1st gen!", or "...that bike can't keep up with a 1st gen." Why so much animosity? Is it because your afraid of change or are you afraid of not getting noticed when parked next to a 2nd gen? From the posts I have read on this website, it sounds like the 1st gens are falling apart. Oil leaks, electrical problems, brakes locking up and the list goes on and on. Some of you like owning antiques that are hard to restore and need to be handled delecately so they don't fall apart and that is probably why you own 1st gens. I do not hold that against you. But I think when we all admit that the 2nd gen is a superior bike then we can all start being friends and put this whole uglynes behind us. I accept all of the 1st gen owners appologies in advance. (P.S. Don't take it personal. I am only joking)

I picked up a cycle magazine the other day at the clinic and the first page it opened to had a Motul add with a 1st. Gen. in it. I looked on the cover and it's from Sept. of 89. http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Rider%20Magazine.jpg http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Motul%20Add%20with%201st%20Gen.jpg
