1. Over the weekend, Lori and I rode our bikes down near to Johnson City, TN, where my brother lives. It's about a twelve hour ride from home. Lori rode her own bike there too. One of our activities for the weekend was riding The Snake, also known as Hwy 421 or Shady Valley. It is fully the equal of the Dragon, but not quite so widely known. My brother and his wife on the left are riding a '95 Kaw GPZ 1100, my beaming wife is riding her '02 V Star 1100, and almost completely hidden from view is my bike. We put on over 1200 miles by the time we were back home, all without incident. A good weekend. http://www.shadyvalleycountrystore.com/

WOW Squid

First hope you got home OK after your trailer problems. Must of been a great deal in Vermont to pass by that 1st gen for sale in your own back yard, about 500 ft. north of the Blue River. Now the WOW part. That's sure a beautiful area of Michigan you live in. From St. Clair south to Algonac everything was so clean and well kept, and riding along the river had marvelous scenery along with all the Women in their bikini's. Took the ferry to Harsen's Island and that was a nice ride in it's self. Make a nice little ride for a summer meet and eat. Good luck on the new scoot.
3. Just posted lots of gear for sale in the classifieds. Pants, jackets, vests, chaps. ignore the price of $2540 , I meant it to be $25-40 for the items. Posted in the riding gear section. Just cleaning out the closet. Shipping will be the actual cost from my house to yours. All gear in great shape! Thanks for looking!
4. I'm trying to post a Restaurant review for Pennsylvania and am being told I'm not allowed. I am logged in so I'm not sure if it's me or the system. Any ideas? And I have one for Bradford PA that needs to be placed in here. And if you're ever riding near Bradford you HAVE to detour to the place.
5. Anyone from Ga. planning on going to The Skid In in WV.........Looking for some riding partners...........I plan on leaving very, very early Thursday morning in order to get there in the afternoon......... You really need to make it, its a great place to go and Leslie grills really good....and the riding aint half bad..........
6. I guess Jamie will have to be changing his name soon, he no longer has the GW, since his wife has her own bike, he decided to downsize and go with something a little smaller, he now has a 2007 V Star 1100 Silverado. Very nice bike, looks like brand new, he is very happy with it and looks forward to riding to Skids in a couple of weeks. We are in the planning stages of that ride. I know pics are required but I didnt have my camera with me when I saw it the other nite, but they will be forthcoming.

maps

I have a ? about the maps that everyone has in there signature. Does this mean they have visited that state( car,Plane, train) or does it mean they have visited that state while riding a bike? Jeff
8. Dave and I started our grand adventure of zig zagging across this great country of ours last Thursday. Today after a beautiful riding day we found ourselves in Kentucky and we had the pleasure of meeting Joy and Wayne (Joysboy). Joysboy pulled up beside up after following us on route 92. He asked where we were heading and how much pressure we had in our back shocks. Now my butt knew the the pressure was low, but I hadn't convinced Dave of that. Dear Wayne offered to meet us ( he actually came to our hotel) with a handy gadget that checked and added air pressure to the shocks. The shocks are so much better now. Imagine going over bumps and having them not HURT. Thank you ever so much, Wayne, for all your help. Everytime we hit a bump in the road I am going to think of you. And you were right about the cafe. The catfish was wonderful. Have fun riding the Parkway, it is a beautiful ride. Sue T
9. I'm not planning anything anymore, something always happens. Planed on meeting other Michigan riders this morning to go to Feebirds MD. So yesterday I'm at the car wash getting the bike all ready to go. I go to get on the scoot and feel a pain in my right knee. 3 hours later the knee won't bend, support any weight and is twice the normal size. Go home take some pills, ice it down and go to bed. Get up at 5:00am to get ready to go, knee feels somewhat OK, swelling down, think ALRIGHT time to hit the road. 20 minutes into getting ready and it's all swelled up again and not working. Tried again at 8:30am and same thing. Beautiful day for riding and can't even walk. So if everything goes as it ussally does by Monday knee will be fine like nothing happened and just wanted to ruin the weekend. So no more planning, just last minute moves, seems to work better. Ok I'm done whining. Hope everyone having a good time at MD.
10. Sorry to rip off a Waylon song, but we had a pretty good time today. I met up with Tom in Blanco and we rode over to the KOA outside of Fredricksburg to get to met JerryW. I have not met anyone from the forum that has not been great people. (I think Don must have ESP and screens the riff-raff out) although I am sure a few of you might be a little shady:rasberry:. We went on down to Luchenbach, but the place was empty. My theory is that everyone partied so hard last night that they were still asleep at 9 AM. The entire Luchenbach loop takes less than 2 minutes. (Don't blink) We then took RR 1376 (I think) down through Sisterdale back to 281. 150 Miles round trip for me, but beautiful scenery and I heard that time spent riding your bike with friends is not deducted from your time on earth. I think thats why some of us are so dadgummed oldfile:///C:/Users/brian/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg. Since everyone likes pictures. I made an attempt to video tape while riding behind Tom but haven't looked at it yet. If it is OK I will sned a snippet to the videos. 11. I'll be riding East in September for a few weeks. Plan is to leave NM around the 5th sept. head to DC Vietnam Memorial and others, then travel the Blue Ridge Pwy down to Asheville NC. East to Wilson and Top Sail Beach NC. Plan to turn back West there and hug the gulf coast with side trips getting back to NM around Sept. 25th. Looking for good places to camp and the mom and pop places to eat. Love BBQ. Been this way several times by myself but it's always good to here from others that have special rides, places to stay and eat. This will be my brother's first trip cross country on a MC and need to get him hooked. I'm riding an 08 RSV he will be on an 09 HD Electra. This may seem early to plan but I'm the type that likes to see the out of the way places, and do the back roads. Would like to meet members on the route as I feel like the Lone Ranger out here. Thanks.
12. I was out riding my scoot this afternoon and while sitting at a stop light, all of the lights and display on my radio started flashing, then the computer screen flashed a few times and the engine went dead. Any ideas on where I should start to look or what the problem may be. I dont want to be riding down the street and have the same thing happen again. When I turned the radio off and turned the ignition key a few times, everything came back.
13. Just got the phone call--trike kit has cleared customs in Sydney, and now will have pre-delivery check and then onto a truck for the journey to Perth. It's gettin' closer to me riding again:banana::banana::banana::banana:

15. We are going to be leaving from St Louis area Thursday on our way to Freebird's place for maintenance day. Anyone else going to be one the road in the area that day? We plan on taking 2 days, getting there sometime Friday. Let me know if anyone wants riding company.
16. I had to go to the Dr. today, had to have an ingrown nail removed from my big toe, he had to do some slicing and dicing to get it all, so no work tomorrow, and no riding for a few days. What was really funny was the nurse saw my t shirt, motorcycle related, and said are you a biker, to which I replied yes, Do you ride a Harley, I answered that I didnt much care for them and got a hard look from the Dr. who was holding the scapel in his hand, turns out he rides a Harley springer, and a Kaw Vulcan, and we started talking bikes, tail of the dragon and things went smoothly after that, Thank God......That could have been ugly, making a Harley rider mad while he's slicing on my big toe with a sharp instrument....... But all is well, toe is fixed, just have to wait for it to heal, good news is I got a 3 day weekend out of it...........
17. This is my first bike with electronics such as radio, CB, Cassette, etc, and I was wondering if I need to take any special precautions to protect them while riding in the rain? How about any tips when washing the bike? I love this `09 RSV "S" and any help will be greatly appreciated. This is a great site!
18. Hi All, Just wondering if this is a common problem and/or a difficult one to troubleshoot. I push the on button, all lights come on then after a couple of secs they all go out but the power. This is normal so far but when I engage the set button while riding, nothing!! Any quick fixes? I do have a manual, just hoping it is simple. Thanks in advance, Kim
19. Well I got my MRI results back today and I didn't tear anything in my shoulder I streched the tendons and they are swollen. I also have fluid buildup from the swelling so they gave me 2 cortizone shots and hopefully I will be riding soon. TOM
20. Hello all, Well, it is good to be back here - though I wish that the issues were different. I have something going on that I hope someone might have some helpful info on. It has been a very busy time for me, of late, and I just got around (earlier today) towards attempts to get my bike ready for its first outing. It is VERY rough starting, but I am assuming that a tune-up might be the cure for that. The largest issue is in the regards of my clutch lever. It seemed to be very loose, but I attempted engaging it (with bike running) and proceeded to shift into first gear. Upon doing so, the bike gave a lurch, and then just died out. I then knew, for a certainty, was much more than just an imaginary thing. As I think back on it, the bike was a little hard shifting - just before I put it up for the winter. Now, though, it appears that there is something definitely wrong with the clutch mechanism. Has anyone experienced such as I have explained here? And would such a repair, to correct this problem, be a real 'cost-hungry' one? If the latter is the case, there is a very good chance that I won't be riding, this year. And I truly hope that this would not be the case.
21. My wife and I are riding to Chimney Rock memorial day weekend. We will be staying in Chimney Rock friday and saturday night. Are there any sights we should try to see while there. Thanks.
22. this is my official apology to any members who were looking at craig,s list for bikes. i found a 2003 RSV w/9005 miles, two tone gold&maroon, brand new rubber and runs like a dream for $5,500. i know it was being looked at so i sent him $500 before i saw it in person{ sometimes you just gotta close your eyes and jump} bottom line, me and renate took the bus to mississippi{26 HOURS} got the bike, and had a great week riding back thru the ozarks, a day in branson, another at osage beach, then home. stopped in waterloo ia at the isle casino and renate walked out with more than our weeks expenditure,s. we,re back now with our new bike and now that i think about it, i,m not that sorry. see you on the road. al and renate
23. Just a heads up for anyone riding around Columbus, Ohio at anytime. Yamaha of Columbus is now located in the same building as Iron Pony Motorsports in the north end of town. They are just north of 161 on Westerville Road just about 15 or 20 minutes from where I live. I stopped by Sunday while I was out riding and Iron Pony is adding new stuff all the time and the East end of the building is now the Yamaha dealer and their shop. Yamaha of Columbus has had several locations in the past few years. My hope is that under new ownership, they will stay put for awhile. As usual I have no connections whatsoever with either of these places. I just like to pass on info when i think my Venturerider family would like it. www.ironpony.com www.yamahaofcolumbus.com
24. Hi to all. I currently ride a Honda ST1300. It's a great bike, but I am having trouble getting used to the riding position (even with the risers). Before the ST I had ridden cruisers for years (39 year riding experience). I am considering moving back to the cruiser world, but want to keep the V-4 for smoothness. I am just interested in hearing from the Tour Deluxe crowd on what you consider the strengths and weaknesses of the bike.
25. Was wondering how many venture riders will be going to the race this year. I am leaving Friday May 22nd from the Houston area. I have season tickets and go almost every year, this year will be the first for riding the 05 RSV. If anyone is riding to the track, would like to join up for the ride. Will be staying with my sister in Indy on the northeast side.
