  1. hey larry, happy birthday, we,ll be seeing you this spring. bill
  2. your v-star looks awesome. i still have mine. i call it my rain bike, cuz it gets rode in all the bad weather. guess i will have it for a long time. it is also my winter project. it is do for some servicing. hated to miss vogel, had to much on my plate as usual. can,t keep up with you youngsters anymore. happy new year to you, and charlene.
  3. well i had an oil leak in my new stratoliner, which i fixed for a second time before christmas. i had to replace a bad rocker box casting. while i had it in my new shop i did a little tweaking. i added a cobra powerpro autotune, and a patrick racing big air kit. my new d&d exaust arrived yesterday, so it may go on this weekend. this thing has got balls out power from idle on up. it is one cantankerous machine. lots of engine noise, and an archaic engine design. it handles like a wing, and really sits low. kind of a modernized piece of nostalgia. next project in line is a total service on my majesty scooter. whats every one else working on this winter?
  4. ya got to love those cushmans. i restored a 1958 pace maker last winter, with a few modern up grades. if you go to my buddys website and click on links you can see the worlds most expensive 1958 cushman eagle. it is the black one, built from the ground up including the cnc machined 4speed tranny and belt primary drive. it is powered by a b&s vanguard v-twin built to the hilt. top speed over 100 mph. it took me almost 4 yrs. to complete. his web site is www.reisstool&machine.com just hit the links button to see the scooters.
  5. don, MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and all the venture riders. bill and linda
  6. well i have my new strat in the shop for the winter. i have been plagued by an oil leak in the rear rocker box. the first fix did'nt work so i had to do it again. i had a bad casting with a flaw in it. this time i put a new casting on it and it should do the trick. i thought about warranty, but the dealer would have never found the cause, and i would,nt let them touch it any way. i thought about putting a patrick racing 120" kit in it over the winter, but i'm just getting to old to for the hot rod bikes. i did put one of the new cobra propower autotune fuel processors on it and have a patrick racing big air kit for it. i'm trying to not get carried away on decking this one out but you know how that goes. linda told me she would buy me an exaust system for christmas but i'm still researching that.
  7. the knife edge straight edges are good in a pinch and fairly accurate for roughing in. we use granite blocks and indicaters that read in tenths of a thousandths. all the surface grinding we do is on okamoto surface grinders with electro magnetic chucks. they are the cats meow in accurate surface grinding. we often finish parts to + or- .0001 tolerance. we use mitutoya digital mikes exclusively. they are the best. they will read out to 1/2 of a ten thousanth. the old school machinist are being phased out by the new cnc equipment. there is still a call for us old guys for the one off fixtures and many other hand made things.
  8. linda and i are will be praying for dano and and his family. bill

  13. i've been on this group posting since about 2005, in all that time i have gotten away with not using caps. the v-star guys ate me up the first week. whats with you folks? before you start on me, i must say i can't walk and chew gum at the same time, so no caps are still the order of the day. 20. brad surprised the heck out of us at the international at the hub.
  21. he would have to be very light weight, have a pit crew to maintain the bike, stay on the super slabs, have a custom built bike designed to fit him, have water and food on board. and be in excellent physical shape. he could do it, but i doubt if the odds are in his favor.
