  1. Since you're settling into a Samsung, I'm thinking I might be able to help you out... You can go to the "Play Store" and check out an app named "ChompSMS". It is a full text app, it can do everything your stock text messenger can do, and more. And the truth is you may like some of the extra things it can do....I LOVE it...but you may not. (it can do a lot of things, like reading any text out loud....I find that really useful when I get a text and can't find my dang reading glasses anywhere!) BUT...and here's the point...it can allow you to set up a "pop up notification" that will appear on the screen (about 1/2 of the screen) every time a text comes in. The "pop up" box will show the entire text, the name and number the text came from, will show any photo you have associated with the person's contact info, and also has a "quick reply" button. With the "quick reply" button, you can write back to the text if you want directly from the notification box. That saves you the time of even having to open the text app at all. Anyway, just something to look at....Good Luck!!!!
  2. I would love to get a copy for my '03 RSMV! Please let me know costs and availability.... Thanks!
  3. Ummm....Captainjoe....I'll be sending you my mailing address. Please and thank you, in advance....
  4. Happy Birthday Wayne, hope it was a GREAT one for ya !!!!
  5. I'm really, really sorry for your loss, most especially this time of year. Prayers for peace and comfort going up, right now, for you and your loved ones.
  6. Well......one can always hope that Miss Kylie might turn out to be single.... Hey....a fella can dream! Whoop Whoop!!! Ha-ha-ha-ha!!
  7. Great music, and VERY talented, that's for sure. I've heard them a number of times on the radio around here, and strangely heard them getting air time when I was back home in Columbus, Ohio around Thanksgiving. THAT was kinda cool!! And gents, if you should happen to get an urge for another "musical adventure" ride next year.....please do keep in mind that the Republic has now acquired another Venture riding, country music loving fella in and around the area as well.... Just sayin!!

  10. "..........." *the deafening roar of crickets*
  11. Hi, Is there a way to pay to join this erstwhile group, without using Paypal? I have been looking for two days to find a way to pay with an e-check, bank account, or some other way...but all I can find is how to pay with my Paypal account....which I don't have one of, nor really know if I want one of! a little help for the engineer in Texas??
  12. I wish. I could deal with just not knowing where it would be, but I saw that in the owner's manual....just nothing there when I looked. ;-/ Thanks, Steve, a lot! I contacted Pinwall by email, I'll wait and see if I hear back from them.
  13. Yeah, Brian, I've done that particular bit myself. But they do have those great vents in the lowers, so it's only 108 on your knees....and you get that AWESOME "potato" sound!! Bha-ha-ha-ha !!!!
  14. Thanks we2riders, that sounds like a great way to adjust a shield! And yeah, Wrench, I can see that. I've got two riding buddies who have put the lower "wind wings" on their scooters, and they tell me that those vents help get a lot of air moving down low as well....
  15. Thanks Captainjoe! I'm familiar with the "Ride Like a Pro" training. a couple of my riding buddies are motor-officers, and I'm lucky enough to be allowed to join them on their practice field. I LOVE the slow speed training! Actually, I didn't mean I had a concern about being able to look/see through the tinted section of a Baggershield, but rather not sure how it would look on the RSV (as far as appearance) I've seen tinted "shorties" before, they can look good but they're one solid color. But with the Baggershield when you raise the shield by "raising" the second part of the shield, you have a shield that has a "tinted" lower half, and then a "clear" upper part. I'm just not sure I like the way that looks. I think the concept of the Baggershield is AWESOME, but wish they would offer it in an "all clear" format....
  16. I've just realized that my "new to me" 03 RSV didn't come with the OEM tool kit. I called the seller, but in case he doesn't have it, I want to find something that will do at least the basics. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a good aftermarket tool-kit that works out for the RSV? Or any idea where I might find an OEM kit?
  17. Thanks, everybody, for sharing your thoughts and advice!! Can anyone who's got/used the Baggershield tell me any of their experiences? Does the "multi-position" system work out ok for you? Any thoughts on a windshield with a "tinted" lower section and the clear upper? And yes, I am going to become a "real" member here, as soon as I get to my personal computer...I don't feel all that safe using my work PC for personal stuff, especially financial stuff!!
  18. Thanks Mike G!! The front end is stock, the only thing lowered is the rear end. And the Diamond R Leveling Links should get that fixed right up...looking forward to it!!
  19. Ok, so since I've fallen in love with my "new" 03 RSV, and because my family is asking about suggestions for Christmas gifts, I thought I'd ask a few more questions about my new baby, and hope that everybody here might have a few thoughts... Tires: the bike has a set of Dunlop 404's on her, with less than 1000 miles on them. I've seen several threads here about how the 404's aren't really a "good" tire for the RSV, or that they might not even be safe for the RSV. Are they really that bad, or actually un-safe? It seems that the Dunlop E3 are pretty popular here, along with a model from Avon and even the Metzler 880's. I will definitely put something else on when it's time to change, but should I just get rid of the 404's now? Windshield: my RSV came wearing a "cut down" stock shield, cut down to 8". While that could probably be a good thing around here in Texas in August, it's way too short for cooler weather and doesn't feel right at higher speeds. So a new shield is a must. What brand of shield do most folks run on their RSV? I've seen the "Baggershield" ads and looked at their site. (I've written to them with a few questions, and they have been very nice) It's a VERY interesting idea, I think I would love the 10" going to 16" shield. But I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the "tinted lower section/ clear upper section" approach. I've never ridden a tinted shield before, and I'm not sure how I feel about the look of a "two tone" shield when riding with the shield extended up to full height. I think I wish they offered the option to have both sections clear, rather than one section tinted.... Speaking of windshields, do you guys prefer to "look over" or "look through" your shields? And if you use a taller shield, are the vents a good idea? I'm looking forward to some longer runs and trips on my RSV, it's one of the reasons I bought her. But I haven't done that all that many longer rides before this bike, and I am always aware of being careful with the damn Texas heat. I'm coming from a Roadstar, it came with a shorter shield that I (barely) looked over, and that was great around town and ok on day trips. But I don't know what works best beyond that. As we say out here....Please, and thank you in advance!!
  20. Thanks to everybody, for the warm welcome and all the help! Just as an update.... First, and most important...I LOVE my new RSV!! Rick Butler was kind enough to reach out and say hi. I've been lucky enough to get to chat with him, about the RSV and riding and life in general...and he's VERY kindly offered to help me with a few changes to my new bike. I'm looking forward to getting to meet Rick in person! I've ordered a set of Leveling Links from Diamond R, so I'm REALLY looking forward to getting those. And a member here, star4772, was kind enough to agree to sell me a Harley license plate/rear brake light assembly he had in the classifieds, so that's on the way too. And Rick and I have talked a fair bit about seats, and once I get all my goodies I'm going to have him do his "seat modification" on the stock seats on my 03 as well. I have been shopping for a good headset to get for my skid-lid, but I haven't decided on which ones yet. I'm still trying to decide on a few other mods I think I need to make: new windshield, possibly different tires (I've seen several threads here about the Dunlop 404's and their not being a safe tire for the RSV), still thinking about some additional lights for the trunk (maybe LED's?), and because I'm in Texas I'm thinking about the "lower air deflectors" that Yammy sells. Again, THANKS to everyone....I'm really happy to be here!!!
  21. Thanks Joe! Can you tell me, if I were to do the Marshall, will the antenna (or the bracket, I guess) still fold down? Or will it be "fixed" into an upright position??
  22. You're bad Miles....you're a bad, bad man.
