  1. Old wise man once said "Without 1st Gen. there would be no 2nd Gen." Or maybe it was some guy named Charlie from Canada.
  2. Just got home from a nice long ride with Nance on the new toy. We drove down to the southern part of Illinois and had lunch and did alot of cruising on the way home. Did about 250 miles and loved every minute of it. Starting to get all the kinks out of the bike, and as it has been said before "First Gens Rule" Thanks to everybody again and we will see you all later.
  3. Nance and I made it home about 8:00 p.m. tonight with our new bike. First we would both like to thank Squidley & Lonna for going over to see the new toy. Second, we would like to thank Tim(Toyman) & Karen for having a pristine first gen and their hospitality. Nance still has not had a ride on it because she had to drive the car home, but we are going to fix that tomorrow. We are looking forward to riding with all of you again, and we both want to thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers after my crash. Here's the pics.
  4. Getting ready to walk out the door to get my new scoot. It's been a very long month without one. The wife has been in withdrawls not riding. Looks like a good weekend for some riding. I'll post pictures and give you more information when we get back. Hopefully Friday evening. It'll probably be that long before I decide to get off the bike. Let the riding begin.
  5. Ken, Glad to hear Beth is doing good. We will say a prayer for a speedy recovery. Looks like it's up to you to be the house husband now. She'll be back on the bike before you know it. Tell her to follow the doctors orders and not overdue it. Heal fast Beth.
  6. Jim, You have our prayers. I was hit the end of August but thank the good Lord I walked away with bumps and bruises. If there is anything you need just yell. If you want to vent you know we are always here. God speed on a quick and full recovery.
  7. If we have a bike by then we will do everything we can to be there. I told you they were good people there. They took good care of us when we stayed there last year.
  8. I feel for you. Lady turned left on me friday and hit the bike. I'm sure the bike is totaled. Those parts are trashed or you could have them.
  9. I got to the doctor's office yesterday, and everything checked out ok. No broken bones or ribs, just some bruised muscles and a busted bike.Nance and I are looking for a new bike, and I really do want to thank everybody again for your thoughts and prayer's.
  10. Just wanted to let you all know what happened yesterday. I had just got off work and had not been on the bike more than sixty seconds, when a lady turned left into me. I saw her car coming and I thought if I could hit the curb deadon I would have a better chance that way instead of her TBoneing me. Well I didn't make it that far, she caught me about two feet up from the rear of the bike on the left side and the next thing I know is that I'm airborn. I went about 20 feet and wound up going into grass on my right shoulder, doing at least two rolls and winding up on my hands and knees. Nothing broke and only 1 little cut on my right arm, although my right shoulder feels like it's ready to fall off. The lady was given a ticket for improper lane useage and now Nance and I get to play the insurance company game over the bike. I really do want to thank all the members for their thoughts and prayers, and we have allready started to look for a new bike. ( Sorry Redneck it will probably be another First Gen.)
  11. This is the information my wife(Nance56) got from them. David Rutledge from coveralls says: "If you have a "group", then we will gladly offer quantity discounts for the group. All that is necessary is to assemble the orders, with individual information, and then call me at (2140350-2690. You have to call because the shopping cart on the web page is set up to bill at one price only-full retail. To get the discount, we have to bypass that. We will give the following discounts to you and your group. 3-6 covers- 10% each, 6-9 covers-15% each, and more than 9-20% each. We will need to ship the covers in bulk if possible, but we can ship them individually and charge the normal shipping and handling charges on each one. You will save considerably on the bulk shipping, if someone will distribute them to the purchasers." We are planning on purchasing a seat cover.
  12. We got the new ones after we got back from Iowa meet and eat. They sent us two new sets. Haven't had a chance to put them on yet, didn't get home until late last nite. We do not have that model. J & M apologized for the problems and inconvenience. We'll see how these do. Good Luck.
  13. I'm glad to report that the fuel problem is no more. I dumped the old oil and put in fresh so we could start the bike to check the carbs. Started her up with the airbox off, being very carefull not to have my head over the carbs when she started. All four carbs had a good even flow and when I shut her down there was no fuel still flowing. Turned off the fuel and run her dry to check to see that the fuel pump was shutting off after it built pressure back on the line, and it did stop after about five seconds. Nance and think that sometime after we filled her up, one of the floats got stuck open with some dirt. We think it happened right before we turned her off, because none of the plugs fouled out. We had been having problems with the intercom and we had been turning the key on and off several times while we were checking it. If the float was stuck and the pump coming on every time we turned the key, were guessing thats how the fuel got into the crankcase. The main thing is that she's not hurt and she's running fine. I'm going to throw a can of SeaFoam in her tommorow, and keep a close eye on her. We would both like to thank everybody who put up posts to help us get her going. You guys were a big help. Thanks.
  14. My gas is now in my oil. I don't know how or where. I need to know where to start. Wrenching isn't something I'm real strong in. Any help out there?
  15. The fuel light was on and the fuel gauge is showing no bars. I used a dowel and there is only about an inch of fuel in the tank. I just checked the oil and guess where the gas is. What should I check first?
  16. Wife and I went for a ride today. Stopped a half hour from home and filled the tank. Went out a little later to put the bike away and no gas. I have checked the lines on the filter and fuel pump and they appear fine. Then I checked the main feed line coming from the tank to the fuel pump and it seems fine. The line coming off of the reserve tank appears fine. The overflow tube is dry at the end. I see no gas on the ground and I do not smell any gas and the wife didn't smell any while riding. Everything I have checked seems fine. I haven't removed the tank yet. What haven't I checked or where do I go from here?
  17. Both Nance and I hope you find peace. we had some good rides with you and Debbie in Eureka Springs and in St. Charles. Just try to remember the good things and times you two had. Peace to you
  18. We are sorry for your loss. Family is family no matter what shape they come in. I know that pets are the best sounding boards we could have. They listen and never criticize. Keep the good memories in your heart.
