1. Paula Deen's in Savannah http://www.ladyandsons.com/ River Street has large cobblestones and trolley tracks, park on Bay St and walk down Fort Pulaski Tybee Island Lighthouse and pier
2. They used the original drive shaft, the final drive they left on the wheel and it went into the bed of the truck with everything else. I sure would like to get rid of that stuff.
3. Monty, I had mine done in Murray around Christmas. Stop in there sometime and ask them to show you around. They are really nice people. They had mine promised for the day after Christmas and the tech worked until 9pm to get it finished so I could get on the road. Jeff, What part were you talking about on the core charge? Hannigan didn't keep anything off mine, I've got all the pieces in the garage.
4. Jeff, Hannigan used the brackets I had to hang the pipes so if it did move it's not enough to matter. It looks cold there in Iowa from your pictures. There are several others on the site that have Hannigan conversions done in the last year or so, I tracked them down and asked a lot of questions. I've got about 1000 miles on mine now and no complaints.
5. You are really going to like it. I picked mine up from Hanningan the day after Christmas and love it. Cougar should have his finished in about a week too.
6. Very nice Jeff, can't wait to see it finished. I was just as impressed as you with the frame and suspension.
7. I PM'd Fred too and he uses an 18" sidecar tire. Looks like I'll switch to a rear tire when the time comes.
8. I knew somebody would know somebody with a solution. Like the others I was thinking about putting a rear tire up front at replacement time. Thanks
9. Nice picture but where is the remote?
10. Just my .02 worth but this has been my experience. Being retired USMC my wife and I get all our health care from the local Naval Hospital, treatment, physicals, prescriptions etc. The Navy bills private insurance if you have it first, Tricare prime then picks up any balance as a secondary insurer. If you don't have private insurance Tricare covers all the expenses, the net result in both cases is zero dollars out of my pocket. They have been doing this for at least the 11 years since I retired. I used to carry blue cross through my current employer for a couple years after I retired until I was sure I didn't need it so all I pay for now is my Tricare premium. I would imagine the VA article point would be along the similar lines.
11. Looking for some opinions on using a c/t on the front of my trike. The contact patch on the front tire now is about 1 3/4 inches either side of center or about 3.5 inches overall. One thing I was wondering about would be the effects on the c/t sidewalls being on the front.
12. F-250 here, it feels solid and does not move around with the trailer. The trailer with RSV trike goes about 3000lbs. The downside is on the 5.4L gas with trailer is 12mpg. Trailer size is 7x14 tandem axle.
13. Good idea, looking forward to seeing what others have done.
14. This is the one I have, the plugs are mushroom shaped and spread out on the inside of the tire. The pump has plug for direct connection to the battery like a battery tender plug. The pump case is stainless steel and very sturdy, this is one you only have to buy once. The fuses for the DC outlets won't last long when running a pump. I carry the kit mainly on the bike but also put it in the car for trips. It is a little expensive but more than worth it when it's needed. http://www.bestrestproducts.com/p-30-cyclepump-adventure-combo-pack.aspx
15. Maybe weld was a poor choice of words, it seems to me there would be some means of bonding the two metals though. That's why you guys make the big bucks. Jeff, Can your source for the round stock bend it to the angle you need? It is certainly something that falls into the "do not attempt this at home" without the right equipment.
16. Jeff, That is a very good start. Can the angle iron be shortened so it doesn't extend beyond the frame or just short of the exhaust header? Then put a 90 degree bend on the round stock and weld it to the inside of the angle iron. That way all you would see is the round stock curving up from under the exhaust. Once it was fabricated you could always have it chromed.
17. Since the trike conversion the GPS and the speedo agree. I don't know what Hannigan did but it seems like Yamaha could have doing the same thing all along.
18. That's the one I was talking about. When I did the trike conversion one of the guys on that forum bought my saddlebags. There are some pretty good looking mods on there.
19. Removing the trunk is pretty simple if you haven't done it already. Remove both the seats and unplug the connectors under the rear seat, these go to rear speakers, intercom and CB. I don't remember about the radio antenna because I took that off years ago. Remove the 4 bolts in the bottom of the trunk and the whole thing, backrest armrests lift off in one piece. The rest is just the support framework. There is a forum somewhere called ultra star with a lot of HD type mods.
20. We live near the coast here in SC and salt air can be a problem. The best thing I've found is a product called Boeshield T9. Clean the metal and wipe it down with it and it lasts a long time. I use it on cast iron saw table tops about twice a year, on my boat and trailer trailer fasteners and on the bike.
21. One more for frog togs.
22. Black is an excellent choice. Taking everything off isn't that bad either, just take pictures and try to start bolts back in the holes they came out of.
23. You may be better off re-wiring the power instead of chasing down problems in a possible poor installation. Using a relay and a separate fused wired to the battery is highly recommended. This is how I wired mine 4 or 5 years ago and have never had a problem. I used the on at all times option from the Yamaha installation instructions and mounted the led switch next to the DC outlet on the fairing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/gunnybutch/PassingLightInst.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/gunnybutch/WiringDiagram.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/gunnybutch/Switch.jpg
24. Have you tried a shot gun from below yet? A friend of mine was headed to his attic with a rifle until his wife asked to explain what he thought he was going to do. He reconsidered and went to plan b, fixing the place where they were getting in.
25. Check out this site, there is a horse farm ride outlined. http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/SouthEast/KY/KY_index.htm#region2
