Yes, you are speaking for the "minority". Most folks and especially businesses are reluctant to upgrade and the reason is very simple....incompatibility with existing hardware and/or software, not to mention the productivity drop by users having to re-learn how to do things. A very small example... I have an HP ScanJet (sorry, forgot the model). Vista doesn't recognize it, Microsoft doesn't supply drivers for it and HP will not (and they've stated this) develop Vista drivers for it so, effectively, my perfectly good scanner that works just fine in Windows XP is nothing but a paperweight in Vista.

They probably ride Harleys. There is no separate "primary" on a Venture. When you change the crankcase oil, you are changing all there is as it also lubes the clutch & tranny.

Because of what Microsoft has done, my employer had decided to move all our systems to OpenOffice. We find some situations where we require Office but for those, it is segregated to specific users (such as myself) and I can tell ya, I ain't upgrading beyond 2003 version. In fact, we implemented that decision 2 years ago when I started this job. For the most part, it's working out just fine.

The more she rides, the more adapted her butt will become (or maybe it's her mind)...eventually she won't realize it's numb (her butt) and think all is well!

Just a bit of FYI... if you're familiar with MS Office pre-2003, stay away from newer versions... good old Microsoft figgured it was time to mess everybody up so they totally changed the program. I've been using (and teaching and supporting) Microsoft Word since it was a DOS program way back in the late 80's and every version change up to and including 2003 has been relatively easy to adapt to. The current versions are so different you pretty much have to learn everything over from scratch...even their file types are totally different...so much so that Microsoft has made available a convertor so that you can convert the documents backwards to older version. When you have a captive audience....ya can do whatever you want. Talk about world power eh?

The ad says..."Virtually indestructible, this trim will not fade, crack or lose its dark rich luster. " and then they advertise a product to "Protect your Investment" that says..."custom formulated to protect both shield and edging". hmmmmmmmm... makes one wonder!

I agree... I am in the "minority" when it comes to size (unless of course I'm compared to guys in Asia!). Insofar as riding a 2nd gen, I have test drove them and frankly, I found them easier to handle than both of my 1st gens. You're comparing apples to oranges. Now look at the Harley Ultra which is more in line with the Venture....how many "little people" do you see riding those? But I doubt Harley built that bike with BIG Americans in mind...similarly, I doubt Honda designed the GW with that idea in mind also. Circumstance. They are big bikes...small people simply have difficulty handling them and they have to be big bikes in order to handle the "two-up touring" that they are designed for. Hey, I'm not argueing...just voicing my 2cents and enjoying our "banter". -

Are you saying Yamaha's "target customers" are BIG People? Seriously... I doubt anyone in Yamaha's design team thought of that. Can you imagine... "hey everyone...let's make a touring bike for BIG people!"... yeahhhhhh and they went out and did it. It's a matter of circumstance and nothing more. The fact simply is there are fewer slim & trim guys like me around. Not to mention ones who can manhandle these scoots as good as any "big" guy. :rasberry: -
I agree I wouldn't even consider adding a CD changer nowadays... even that technology is out of date Nowadays it's XMradio, Ipods, etc, etc... who wants a CD player anymore?? I have a brand new AM/FM/CD unit that was given to me for my truck and I can't be bothered putting it in coz I enjoy my XMradio too much and packing around a whack of CD's is a PITA.

Color change is about all I could see.... looks like I won't be getting an older RSV next year either.... since they haven't made any changes for 2009, nobody's gonna be trading off their 99-08 models which makes the availability not so good and the prices will remain stable for another year "waaaaaaaaaaa" -

I found the answer to the "multiple database" Q ... Basically you must list all databases in my.cnf on the master and slave. Master: Code: binlog-do-db=db1 binlog-do-db=db2 binlog-do-db=db3 binlog-do-db=db4 binlog-do-db=db5 binlog-do-db=db6 binlog-do-db=db7... Slave: Code: replicate-do-db=db1 replicate-do-db=db2 replicate-do-db=db3 replicate-do-db=db4 replicate-do-db=db5 replicate-do-db=db6 replicate-do-db=db7 ... __________________ ...More "Nerdish" but maybe useful to someone here...

Anyone carry spare key on cycle?
SilvrT replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A "real close friend" of mine carries his spare key on a ring that is hooked to the wiring harness of the CLASS system. It hangs low down and can't be seen (somewhere under the coolant jug). Easy for him to get it when in need. But I ain't tellin ya where I keep mine! -
That's correct! Exactly as I have done it. There is another method which is commonly used and that is to store the entire website on your local PC. You open that, make the changes and then Publish the changes to the actual web which is seen on the Internet. The thing about this is you can view your changes locally and make any adjustments necessary BEFORE you publish it to the live site.
