1. Yep ... and I got them from all the RIDING I been doing the past couple weeks ... We left home yesterday morning at just before 10am and didn't get back until 6pm .... and then there was the THREE FULL DAYS a couple weekends ago...
2. Nope ... didn't even think of using that yet I have 3 of them LOL Contact cement.
3. So I found a good sized piece of grey felt and spent this rainy afternoon "upholstering". Only got the bottom done so far....next will be the top.

Tires

When I bought my new front tire, I was quoted $24 labour to change it on the bike. Rear was $28 I don't think they knew what all was involved coz that particular shop (not a dealer) deals mainly with sport bikes. As it was, I had my wheels off already.
5. I'm running 40lbs in the rear and zero in the front. I tried 5lbs in the front but it didn't seem to make a lot of difference on the roads I ride on.
6. Yes, you need to buy ICBC basic coverage first and then the extra from Coast Capital. My basic coverage from ICBC is $865 My extra coverage from ICBC is $1173 Total $2038 My extra coverage from Coast Capital would be $455 Total $1320 Savings = $718 over the year!

8. According to specs, the Spitfire 170/90 is .7 inch wider than a stock Dunlop 150. Apparently there's appx 1/4 inch clearance at the driveshaft tube. Not a lot but enuf. A 180/70 would certainly be wider than a 170/90
9. The Spitfire S11 is not the same as what is put on at factory which is an Excedra G702 (according to the owner's manual - I had the Dunlops on mine). From my research, the Spitfire appears to be a superior tire at a reasonable price. The G702 is a basic bias ply OEM tire - probably the lowest rated one they could put on it. The Spitfire is bias 4-ply SPORT Touring ... has a much better tread pattern IMHO. I'm sure at least one member who uses this tire will vouch for it. I've put a 130/90 Spitfire on the front and have appx 300 km on it so far. I guess we will see....
10. I just got the figures from ICBC for my insurance coverage on the scoot and full coverage with $1,000 deductible and max discount will run me $2,038 for the full year. Not being satisfied with that, I did some poking around because I knew that somewhere I should be able to get private insurance beyond the basic ICBC 200,000 PL&PD. I found that I can get it from Coast Capital. Quote Summary: $455.00 ..... Annual Premium $12,500 ..... Declared value of the bike $500 ..... Declared value for riding gear $400 ..... Declared value for helmets $1 million Third party liability $1,000 ..... Deductible $40.57 ..... Monthly payment This is for Collision, Comprehensive, and 3rd party liability to 1 million. The policy also includes Travel Protection (if your bike is stolen or you are involved in accident away from home), Emergency Service Expense, and Lock Re-keying (if keys are stolen). Additionally, if you only insure with ICBC for 6 month's, the Coast Capital becomes a "storage policy" with the exception of the liability which would not apply once the ICBC policy expires. This is a substantial savings and I will definately be getting my extended insurance from them.
11. you must be running with the wrong air pressure... mine has over 19,000 km and there's still lots of tread left. (or maybe you're doing burnouts?? )
12. A member here (Pecker) has installed a 170/80-15 and clearance is quite close. He recommends to remove appx 1/4 inch from the fender brace and if I recall correctly, there's about 1/4 inch clearance between the tire and the driveshaft tube. I will be exploring this option when I replace the rear tire. I'll be going with a Bridgestone Spitfire S11 http://www.bikebandit.com/bridgestone-spitfire-s11-motorcycle-tire
13. you could try this website... http://www.ensode.net/pdf-crack.jsf I haven't tried it but it may work.
14. Just checked what my insurance would be for this year .... Govn't insurance here in BC ... annual premium for full coverage, $1000 deductible with the highest discount rate is.... $2,038 WHAT A RIPOFF !
15. I agree and also use the Iridium plugs and I had 18,000 km on the stock plugs when I swapped them out and they really weren't showing any signs of failure ... looked very normal so I probably won't even think about pulling the plugs again for probably 3 more riding season's.
16. A lot of interesting comments re: buffeting ... I really don't notice any (at least not to the point of it being bothersome) and I've had my RSV up to over 100mph. Mind you, when I'm riding near a large vehicle such as a truck with a covered box or a transport, yes, then there is buffeting but that's gonna happen. Cross winds or head winds also cause additional buffeting but again, to me that's only "normal" and I don't think much about it. Nina sits quite high as she's almost as tall as I am so she does bear the brunt of the wind and does notice a fair amount of buffeting but she never says much about it. I'm hoping to reduce that some for her by replacing the w/s so I think I'll probably order the medium height Clearview. I don't mind looking thru it as most of the time we're not riding in crappy weather or at night. For those few times we do, I just "live with it" and sit up straighter, strech my neck and look over the top.
17. ...BUT... you NEVER tell your passenger what it really does... you tell her it's for when SHE wants to apply the BRAKES !!
18. I can relate to that when the other half sits on me... :rotf:
19. Now, this really spoils it for me.... :crying:
20. yep ... only took me 35+ years and a lot of "trial runs" to find one
21. Question for those of you who've purchased a Clearview. Has anyone cut theirs down after you purchased it? Any issues with that or is it as simple as cutting down a stock windshield? Reason I ask is I'm close to ordering a Clearview but I don't want to order the shortest one in case I don't like the height...thought being I'll order the tallest and then cut it down if I so decide. I cut my stock down by 2.5" and it was a very easy process but I also want to ensure that the wife gets ample protection / minimal buffeting.
22. ummmmmm... I just re-read this and got me to wonderin ... how does takin the RIGHT wheel off have anything to do with the LEFT engine mount???
23. On the Tiger, you have to pull back the carpeting under the dash on the hump, remove an access panel that's about 5 inches square and "feel" your way to the plug. It's a job that will guarantee more than one skinned knuckle and if you don't have small hands, forget it (probably the reason I was always the one who got to work on this car LOL) ... Now, this memory goes back 42 years and it's almost as clear in my mind as when I was doing it LOL.
24. Sorry to hear that this was so "painful" for ya. Maybe after a little practise you'll knock that time down to about 30 min which is what it took me the first time around. I didn't have to drain the tank tho so maybe that saved me some time. I agree about the lack of slack in the plug wires but a little twisting and yanking gets them outta the way enuf. Now, you want something that is a real pain to change plugs on...try doing it on a '65 Sunbeam Tiger with the V8 engine! If I recall correctly I think it's the left rear plug that will take ya twice as long to change as it does for all the other 7 plugs.
