Nina & I tried a 2009 out... was nice to drive but wind buffeting was a lot more than expected. Position of the passenger floorboards was uncomfortable for her and you can't change them. I'd really like to test ride the Cross Country one day. They come with a trunk now (option) ... nice looking scoot and great reviews.

Road King Mufflers?????
SilvrT replied to TearlessTom's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Those seem to "backfire" ... especially if the baffles are removed because then they are basically a "straight-thru" flow. Mine does that too. I even tried plugging the AIS but that didn't mae much difference. At least this is my experience ... dunno about others except yourself. -
You really should have spent more effort in your wood selection .... that stuff will never stand up over time, not to mention anything other than smooth paved roads (no bumps or potholes). I think ya better re-do the whole thing over with some good wood!! :rotf:

Over the first year I had my bike, I tried a number of different oils ... dino & syn ... Amsoil to Mobil-1 .... Rotella dino has been my oil of choice for a few reason's .... inexpensive, readilly available, the engine seems to like it best. Castrol is another that seems to work best. Everyone has their own choice and each engine, although they are the same, they're not and where/how they are driven differs as well. When I had my '85 I only used YamaLube. Reason was that the prev owner (who was the original) only used that and he said he'd tried a few different ones and then stuck with that .... so I did too. On my '87 I mostly used Castrol but both of those 2 bikes were high-milers when I got them. I did a dumb thing and tried syn on the '87 and almost immediately had clutch slippage. I had to remove the friction plates, etc and clean them up with emery and change the oil back to the Castrol. Insofar as the Rotella, I always check the container for any new labelling that might be of concern as it relates to wet clutch application.

Better than papertowels and a lot lessexpensive... COFFEE FILTERS Coffee filters ..... Who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for almost nothing even the large ones. 1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers. 2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome... Coffee filters are lint-free so they'll leave windows sparkling. 3. Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish. 4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter. 5. Protect a cast-iron skillet.... Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust. 6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter. 7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter. 8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale. 9. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods. 10. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes. 11. Prevent a Popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter.. 12. Do you think we used expensive strips to wax eyebrows? Use strips of coffee filters.. 13. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. It soaks out all the grease. 14. Keep in the bathroom. They make great "razor nick fixers." 15. As a sewing backing. Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliquing soft fabrics. 16.. Put baking soda into a coffee filter and insert into shoes or a closet to absorb or prevent odors. 17... Use them to strain soup stock and to tie fresh herbs in to put in soups and stews. 18.. Use a coffee filter to prevent spilling when you add fluids to your car. 19. Use them as a spoon rest while cooking and clean up small counter spills. 20. Can use to hold dry ingredients when baking or when cutting a piece of fruit or veggies.. Saves on having extra bowls to wash. 21. Use them to wrap Christmas ornaments for storage. 22. Use them to remove fingernail polish when out of cotton balls. 23. Use them to sprout seeds.. Simply dampen the coffee filter, place seeds inside, fold it and place it into a plastic baggie until they sprout. 24. Use coffee filters as blotting paper for pressed flowers. Place the flowers between two coffee filters and put the coffee filters in phone book.. 25.. Use as a disposable "snack bowl" for popcorn, chips, etc. OH YEAH THEY ARE GREAT TO USE IN YOUR COFFEE MAKERS TOO.

Jack, you need to respond to more of these scams .... the person's response was so similar to many other's I've responded to "just for the halibut". I love to see their ridiculous responses and then reply back to them with some of my own "razzing". Recently I advertised a Motorola set top box (receiver for satellite TV) on craigslist and a guy from Vancouver Island tried to scam me out of it. Wanted to know if I'd ship it to him if he paid my asking price ... then about 5 days later he msg'd me again wanting to know how much I would sell it for, shipping included. My responses, of course, were that I'd gladly ship it once I had the cash in hand ... haven't heard anything more for over a week LOL on a side-note, are you getting any of this arctic cold down there? man we sure are getting a blast of it here in Vancouver .... high forecast of minus 5 celcius today ... was down to minus 10 last night with high winds made it feel like minus 20.

A man goes in for an interview for a job as a TV news broadcaster. The interview went quite well but the trouble was he kept winking and stammering. The interviewer said, "Although you have a lot of the qualities we're looking for, the fact that you keep winking and stammering disqualifies you." "Oh, that's no problem," said the man. "If I take a couple of aspirin I stop winking and stammering for an hour." "Show me," said the interviewer. So the man reached into his pocket. Embarrassingly he pulled out loads of condoms of every variety - ribbed, flavoured, colored and everything before he found the packet of aspirin. He took the aspirin and soon talked perfectly and stopped winking. The interviewer said, "That's amazing, but I don't think we could employ someone who'd be womanizing all over the country." "Excuse me!" exclaimed the man, "I'm a happily married man, not a womanizer!" "Well how do you explain all the condoms, then?" asked the interviewer. The man replied, "Have you ever gone into a pharmacy, stammering and winking, and asked for a packet of aspirin?"

SilvrT replied to TearlessTom's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Exact same thing for me when I pulled my trailer last summer. Just got to be too much "loud" over the long haul. "now I appreciate the quieter ride" .... My wife, on the other hand .... LOL... she wants the RK's back on! ... I think she'll change her "tune" once we take a longer trip with the stockers. -

The guy is advertising "modified to a max 2 level" ... what specifically does that mean I wonder? I've seen these ads before but never investigated.
