  1. heh... another challenge ... I'll take ya up on that one. Don't forget, this 'lil Dakota has the 5.2 L MAGNUM V8 arrrrr arrrrrrr arrrrrrrrrrr ... it'll smoke ya no problem...
  2. Thanks my friend... we've looked at Ford but will also check out the Dodge.
  3. I'm not ruling them out but what concerns me about "imports" is the availability of used replacement parts and the cost of them and/or the cost of new parts. One has to consider that at some time, something will fail and it will be out of warranty. Over the years I've had one new Mazda truck and one used Toyota truck ... both were good but those 4 cyl just couldn't hold up to my heavy right foot LOL. (in those days they didn't have V6 or V8). I do plan on checking out three Nissan trucks that are available. http://buysell.com/Vancouver-BC/2005-NISSAN-FRONTIER-4x4/5-9428915/d/50-50-a-pt-sf-prx-rcp--z2baz1a1a1az1qz6y-6D5D1609/?gcid=3604 http://buysell.com/Vancouver-BC/2006-NISSAN-FRONTIER-Nismo/5-9493148/d/50-50-a-pt-sf-prx-rcp--z2baz1a1a1az1qz6y-67066E0D/?gcid=3602 http://buysell.com/Vancouver-BC/2006-NISSAN-TITAN-SE-KING-CAB/5-9445526/d/50-50-a-pt-sf-prx-rcp--z2baz1a1a1a1d1az1qz6y-270C2059/?gcid=3602
  4. Brad, a person only realizes he needs a truck when he doesn't have one eh. So, for the past 15 years, I haven't been without a truck and I'd bet at least once every year I've been glad I had one. I've had cars and vans but only a truck has been the most useful vehicle.
  5. Thanks m8t ... I'll be chekkin it out tomorrow (Saturday) along with that '03 Dakota RT and a couple other F150's I've found.
  6. That's a very generous offer !! Wow, there's sure a lot more to being a part of this site than one might think! Thanks guys for all the input....really appreciate it! Based on my budget, I could see myself driving this.... http://buysell.com/Vancouver-BC/2003-DODGE-DAKOTA-R-T-Pickup/5-9399109/d/50-50-a-pt-sf-prx-rcp--z2baz1a1a1a1d1az1qz6y-27546D3E/?gcid=3508 or maybe this.... http://buysell.com/Vancouver-BC/2005-NISSAN-FRONTIER-4x4/5-9428915/d/50-50-a-pt-sf-prx-rcp--z2baz1a1a1az1qz6y-6D5D1609/?gcid=3604 or maybe even this... http://buysell.com/Vancouver-BC/2006-FORD-F-150-King-Ranch/5-9463976/d/50-50-a-pt-sf-prx-rcp--z2baz1a1a1q1a1az1qz6y-477C7E0C/?gcid=3502 Heck, I dunno yet, there's so many to look at.... I guess my weekend will be busy LOL
  7. probably because there's not that many on the road. There are tons of used Ford trucks ... they are like the Harley ... Ford (and Harley) sell more product than anyone.
  8. heh ... what daddy wants and what he can afford .... now that's a major difference LOL
  9. I've had 3 different Dodge trucks, the last two being Dakotas. BOTH have had trans problems. Replaced the trans on my '94 at appx 160,000 Kms and on this 96, I needed some valve replaced... not a big deal...only $450 but heck, this thing has 308,000 kms on it. No idea what's been done before I got it.
  10. I want to get $2000 for it. It's a high-miler, runs good, solid body, V8 auto ... top of the line model but the orig owner was a heavy smoker and the interior has a lot of butt-burns. It does need some TLC. Rubber is Michelin and lots of tread left. New shocks, new rad, new cat convertor, trailer hitch, new rear bumper... needs drivers door power window motor but I'm working on that.
  11. Sorry, not a scoot but... We've come to the realization that our '96 Dakota just WILL NOT take us to the end of the road (that being into our "twilite" years ... appx 15 yrs from now) so we have a decision to make ... we need to replace it with a new(er) truck. Yes, it has to be a truck. We're thinking a 2008 or 2009 model year. Has to be an extended cab, has to have V8 power, automatic trans. We're looking for some guidance on what ya'll feel would be the most reliable truck out there at the most affordable price. Don't want a 4x4 and don't need anything bigger than a heavy half (1500). To give some of my preferences ... firstly I like Dodge product, then GMC. Never been a Found On Road Dead person but hey, what do I know about these newer ones?? Don't like Nissan but Toyota ain't bad .... Mazda maybe? (but that's just a Ford in disguise isn't it?) ... Really don't care for the looks of the Chev Colorado. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated?
  12. I have exactly the same "dilemma" ... however, I just can't justify the price of an iPad for the purpose of reading books. Granted, an iPad does so much more but just like our cell phones, most of it's features won't get used so, after reading the info and reviews of the Kindle, I figgure that's the one I'll be getting her for Christmas. 13. Install the software using "compatibility mode". You do this by right-clicking on the install file and selecting properties, then choose "Compatibility" and select Windows XP SP3 Once installed, locate the shortcut for it and do the same.

Somebody has to be "yo momma" if your "risk/benefit equation" is infringing on the safety of me and mine.
  15. I'd be happy to get lucky someday....
  16. One other caveat in this before you can receive any money... you MUST learn to speak that language!

One thing I do when merging onto a freeway is to speed up so that I am going faster than the flow ... that way it's easier to avoid situations where someone in the left lane decides to move over to the right lane at the same time. Additionally, I look over my left shoulder and use my mirrors several times just to ensure the coast is clear.
  18. So many are "diligent" gas mileage monitors and start "panicking" when it drops or they aren't getting "what the other guys is". I drive mine till it needs filling up and as long as it's running smooth, I don't mess with it. Granted, it's nice to know how much farther you can go on the remaining gas but I rarely let my gas gauge get below 1/4 ... even in my cage. Been that way since my "ran out of gas" excuse stopped working Having said that, I did do a gas mileage check last Sept when we went on holidays ... just for curiosity ... think I averaged around 38-40 and that was 2-up pulling a trailer ... I was very surprised, was expecting a lot less.
  19. Harleys are so popular and numerous, they seem to find their way into almost every discussion LOL!
  20. I hear this so often but have yet to hear exactly what motorwork they need, nor have I had anyone mention what percentage of the total of these bikes (specifically the Electra Glide) are requiring this so-called motorwork. Can you provide this info as I'm really curious to know.
  21. GL1800 ... a Blue one like in TV5150's post .. yeessssssssssssssss!!! Some might recall earlier thread of mine stating that I was going to get a Wing. In fact, I still want one but it's hard to make that "jump" .... Our RSMV will be fully paid for by May next year. Once that bill is paid, we will be debt free. Our plan is to then funnel all our extra money into our retirement savings. With only a bit over 3 years to go, we need to save as much as we can and we're counting on all things remaining the same between now and then. So the dilemma ... do we borrow more and get a Wing or stick with the RSMV? .... it's almost a no-brainer. As for a comparison between my scoot and an 1800 Wing .... seems there's a lot of pro's and con's being posted here. Some statements make me think that some ppl are either b/s ing or just don't know what they're talking about. I rode an '03 Wing a couple times ... I had that thing up over 200 km/h on the freeway and it didn't matter if I was running at the speed limit or at 200, that bike was rock solid and handled like a dream .... it actually gave me a scary feeling of confidence. Twisties were also a breeze not to mention the ease of manouverability in a parking lot. The thing practically drives itself. My only complaint was that the seat wasn't comfortable. Would I trade my RSMV for an 1800 Wing??? ... I say again... in a HEARTBEAT ... if I could afford it. But, that is not to say I don't like my RSMV. ... It's a great bike and I love the looks but it's a bike you have to work at to drive it (compared to a Wing at least) and I'm getting too old to be workin any harder than I have to. (just my $0.05)
  22. younger?? heck, I'd have one of those now if I could afford a second bike! Very nice ... it's one of the nicest scoots Yamaha makes imho.
  23. but.... the deer you know ain't the one's we need tellin...
  24. There's numerous youtube vids on the cross country ... dey got muh MoJo Workin!!!
  25. I know what you SHOULDN'T DO .... post such things for all us "northerners" to see coz we're all "winter bound" !!
