Glad you made it "home" safely!! Ride some for us until the snow melts.

That's a great ACT score!! Tell her congratulations!! Now, there is no special prize for kids that hit college early other than people are untrusting because of their age. There is a lot to be said though for kids to be able to grow socially from being with other kids their own age. Your daughter is ahead of the curve, but we have had our kids "concurrently enrolled" in college during their Junior and Senior years in high school. This has worked great to keep them challenged academically for their core subjects but allowed them to still attend the regular school for non-core subjects and social interaction. Two of our four kids moved into a 4 year university after high school with associate degrees after high school. A third moved to a 4 year university with a full ride scholarship before completing her associate degree and our youngest has just started classes at Weber State this year. Just wanted to share another perspective. All four kids attended a private school. Private doesn't necessarily mean more advanced classes are available. FYI - of my four kids, 28 was their best ACT score. FANTASTIC

I have to admit, the finished product looks better than the previews I saw of it. Congrats!! Ride Hard!!

Do I hear Four!!

I had the same question when I was changing mine. My neighbor told me to take a utility knife and just split the old grip and open it up and it would come right off. He was right!! Dave

Condor- The only pic I have of the repair was too dark to really see what was done. Sorry!! I just used the ABS glue in the red can that I bought at Home Depot.

If you come through Salt Lake, give us a call!! Dave

There was a fair amount plastic that was broken completely but only a couple of small piece that were actually missing. As this part of the truck his hidden behind the passenger backrest, I didn't worry about making replacement pieces from ABS material. The ABS glue did fill in the area fairly well as it welded the remaining truck together. I also embedded the fiberglass material into the ABS glue and then added another layer of glue to adhere the Lexan. All of this created a pretty strong base for the hinge to bolt up to. I have looked at the trunk for a while but it all function as you would want all of last year. I'll see if I can add some pics tonight when I get home from the dungeon. Feel free to call my cell number on the profile. Dave

Passenger CB/Radio Remote
utadventure replied to 86Royale's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The passenger radio control is definitely a nice piece to have. The radio and intercom will work without the control but the passenger will not be able to control the volume which can result in the sound being too soft or too loud compared to your. They also can't mute the sound or transmit via the CB themselves because of the lack of a PTT button. I was able to pick one up from another Venture rider for $75.00, it has made it much better for the CoPilot!! -
Paul- Sorry to be delayed in sending the winshield! But, Christmas provided a box that I could send it in and then we spent a couple of days with my younger son at his basketball tournament in Las Vegas. Well, we're back home and got it all taken care of this afternoon. Check your PM for the details of the shipment. Enjoy!! Dave

That's what they make video recorders for!! Then, if it's really good, you can post it on here for the rest of us. Dave

Excellent Jeff!! I add my wishes and prayers for all to have a safe 2008!!

Paul- This is the windshield I have. The metal looks as though it will unbolt pretty easily but it would leave holes if you cut above it. Sorry for the delay it taking the pictures (great camera I have) Dave
-
Paul- I have an old one I replaced. It's not the stock shield but it might work. I'll shoot a picture tonight when I get home and post then. Dave

I can't help you on the horn but I bought the Utopia backrest for my '86. It installed pretty easily and has been great to ride with. The seat adjusts with a turn of a screw, folds forward if needed and can be removed by simple pulling up (this is an upgrade but well worth it). The backrest can interfer with a riders comfort because it mount down through the seat. The work & color matched very well with my stock seat.

Pete- Thanks for the invitation to ride with the Star group. I've looked at their site and haven't been able to justify with myself the value of the membership. I'm sure that for many it works great but, for me, I don't think it works. But as Condor says, would they like to come and join with us? For me, venturerider.org has been great to share info on maintenence, safety and fun (and the cost of all this is exceptional) I hope a few more of the Utahn's will chime in and let us know if you're interested!! So Pete, are you interested in a Meet & Eat after the first of the year while we wait for the snow to melt away (or just pile deeper)?

DanJ and I got together yesterday to exchange our Guardian Bell (Don, they're great looking!!) and had a bite of lunch together (thanks Dan for the burger) and just talked about life and how great our 1st Gens are. So, does this mean we've had the first Utah meet and eat? How about it Utahns, are there enough of us interested in getting together occasionally to eat and enjoy the great company?

I put the Metz 880's on in Oct '06 and put 6000 miles on them this ear with no hint of problems this year. I'm watching them close but liking them.

Got mine as well today! Thanks Don!!

I read this article last night and thought there was something wrong about it. I figured out what it was this morning. First of all let me say, I'm one of those that took a 25 year break before returning to riding and I support safety and rider courses. The author of this article did his job, he got a reaction. If you want to prove something, all you need are the right statistics!! Of course the percentage of all accidents has risen in the 40+ age range, the percentage of motorcycles owned by over 40 riders has grown (median age of motorcycle owners is 41, was 27). If you look at the number of accidents per capita by age group, I think you'll find that the younger riders are still more likely to be involved. While we may have slower reactions than we use to, we are probably less likely to hod rod and showboat and get ourselves in stupid situations. Alright, I vented and now pass the soap box to the next contestant. Dave

Here's a great picture we took in Yellowstone this fall. The only way we shoot animals is with a camera. Dave
