  1. I've found clearview and Cee Bailey, are there any other manufacturers out there. I cut mine down to where I could barely see through it and with the wind blockers on the lowers, it works fine. But it's summer now, the blockers have to come off. And with that the buffeting is terrible. Gonna have to get a taller windshield for summer, but I've only got a month to do it. (Vacation coming up)
  2. It does increase the volume, but I can't speak of the quality of the music. I'm half deaf. Battery life seems to be about 12-14 hours depending on volume.
  3. Got my valve adjustment finished today (left a plug wire off), in the process the floats were evened up. (not off enough to fool with) And in celebration went to Wallyworld for a loaf of bread. On the way home, the mailman(person) had run and in my box was a clutch spring. I ain't puttin it on today. But thanks Earl. The clutch is now on the list of things to do.
  4. Randy, you da man. For all to know. Not only did he have the kit, he was at my door two hours later.
  5. Two things. 1) try running Opera or Firefox and see how they behave. If they're ok, dump and reload IE. 2) Check the add\remove programs routine. See if There's something there that doesn't belong. Oh - and check sysedit and see if there's something under the startup tab that seems odd.
  6. Is there a valve shim it floating around and needs some new shims? Seems my local dealer has decided that he's losing sales by swapping shims for free. Will be happy to pay shipping. (Both ways). tks chuck
  7. It's called 'axle' because I had just finished fighting the front axle bolt out of my strom and had axle on the brain. On the way out the shop door to generate this thread, my tire guy called and said the front tire for the strom had just come in, so I thought I'd just stop and pull the wheel. Good times linger.
  8. Oh - the thin metal plate that falls out if you strike the bike softly? That one? thanks
  9. Well, - - that's a idea. Yes, that's a idea. (gosh, I hope a better one comes along)
  10. In the process of getting ready to adjust the valves, I find I don't have anything that will turn the crankshaft. What did anyone successfully use to turn the crank after removing the crome cover? 17mm won't go in the hole, 16 goes but won't fit the bolt. So far, I haven't found a thin wall 17mm. I've got grinder, and I'm not opposed to it, but grinding the wall of a 17 just don't seem right - somehow. tks chuck
  11. Just make sure you've got the crashguard brace on first.
  12. The one from Wally World for bicycles. 6 bucks or so. The aluminum frame morphs for various sized drinks.
  13. From my experience. Run max sidewall pressure in the tires. These are HEAVY bikes. In my case the triple tree was too tight. Loosened it 1/4 turn. Now the bike handles nearly as well as my weestrom.
  14. If water flowed North to South, what would happen in 25% of the commodes in the world?
  15. The "I" basket seems to be quieter on most machines, however, it's not standard on any bike.
  16. How cum some of these posts are dated 'June'?? confusing
  17. Summertime - already got it - wee strom. Winter, dunno maybe electrics and wee strom.
  18. Go to the battery if you can, if not find a wire that does. The frame is not a good place.
  19. I found the Blue Steam, they keep it back near the rudder bearings. But I was to big to fit the hatch.
  20. Took the front to 42 and rear to 50 (sidewall max). Much improved. Boy 5 lbs of air makes a big difference. In the process of all this. I backed off 1/8 turn on the tripletree nuts. Loosened up the steering quite a bit. Much easier in the corners. Must have been too tight to begin with.
  21. I'll run the pressures up in the morning and see how it rides.
  22. Hwy 108 out of Canton (Ga) just got new tar snakes this year. Today is the first day over 90 degrees that I've ridden it. Gosh! The bike was all over the road. Running 35 lbs in the front 40 in the rear on Avon Venoms (front is the 150/80) (40000 on the odometer). Ive had it on the stand and to handlebars don't bounce when hitting the limit, can't feel any slop in the triple tree. Running low on ideas here. At 5 mph and good shake of the handlebars feels kind of like I have a underinflated radial tire on the front. Even if the shocks were worn out, I don't think they'd cause this. But like I said, out of ideas. Anybody else got any?
  23. Just got and paid my renewal. Best money I've spent in a long time.
  24. But I bet the Boomer slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
