  1. I am currently running a set of KromeWerks slip-ons with turn out tips, they are not listed on the KromeWerks web site any more, I like them pretty well but have allways liked the sound of BUBs. I cam across a set of BUBs pretty cheap a few weeks ago, but they do not have baffles in them so I am waiting on BUB to send me new baffles. Once I get them put together and try them out I will make a decision on what I am going to keep the Krome Werks or the BUBs. I will be puting one set up for sale, so if you are interested just keep an eye open for my post. As was stated in previous post, you will not get the same sound from the V-4 as you do from a V-Twin, with the right system, the Yamaha V-4s will sound more like a small block Chevy V-8 with glass packs than a Harley.
  2. Do all the time at work, photo editing and commenting on photos in Excel is much easier that in Word.
  3. It is possible that the mufflers that were supplied with bikes shipping to OZ were different than those shipped to the US. If you have the factory mufflers that that are the same as what came on the US versions there would be no need to remove parts A or B to fit up the tips, they just slip in place and are fixed with the screws, also they are made so the tips can be rotated to turn down, turn out or turn up. It is also possible that a previous owner changed out the mufflers for Venture mufflers or the shop that built it originally put the wrong mufflers on the bike. As a side note, the tips are not installed at the Yamaha factory they are sent with the bike to be installed by the dealer in what ever position the buyer wants them. If you remove parts A & B I not certain that you will anything behind the rear baffle plate that is substantial enough to put a screw into and have it hold those tips for very long, if memory serves those tips are fairly heavy.
  4. The mufflers from the Tour Deluxe that accept the tips have nut plates or clinch nuts installed in them, they should line up with the holes in the tips so you just insert the retaining screw thru the tip and into the nut plate or clinch nut and tighten them up. The Venture mufflers do not have the nut plates or clinch nuts.
  5. Just for clarity, because my original post was not ovrly clear, I did not need to open the attachment in the email I received, when I opened the email from the "view source" option available in Hotmail, I could see what the attachment was going to ask, that is how I knew what was in there and that it was a scammer trying get my info. You are all correct, the best thing to do is to dump any suspicious email immediately. If I get any email from an address that I am not familar with I always use the "view source" option to lt me look at the text with out activating any codes that may be in the message.
  6. Dion, I am expecting the replacement parts from BUB to have the "bell" end that goes into the end cap attached the the pipe, so all I should have to do is get the stubs out of mine and put the the ones in and fasten them to the cones and the cans. If I do not get the "bell" portion, I will have to get the new parts welded to the stubs, should be easy enough, a couple of my guys at work have welders at home. So I am just going to wait until the new parts arrive from BUB and that will dictate the next step. Gary, Thanks, but the deal is done with BUB, I am not so worried about the money as I am about making sure it is a correct as I can make it. I am sure there are less expensive ways to skin this cat, but sometimes by the time you get done monkeying around with a fix the time and money ends up being the same as the doing it with factory parts.
  7. I got a very suspicious email from "paypal" with an attachment that I was supposed to fill out with all sorts of private information, that they did not need. I promptly deleted it, so you be carefull if you get one.
  8. oh yeah way longer, I only have a stub of the baffle pipe that is about 2.5 inches long.
  9. Gary Thanks, that is what I was looking for, the part where you welded the nuts on is still in my tips, I have not really tried to get them off, but will do soon.
  10. OK so I got hold of BUB and they are willing to sell the replacement baffle pipes with packing for about $130.00, they are out of stock and I have to wait a few weeks for them to make a production run. When I asked them about the baffle pipe being pressed into the end cap, it took them by surprize and they asked for the part numbers on the pipes and assured me they would send the correct parts based on the part numbers from the cans. Does anyone have photos of the baffles from their BUBs? I would be curious as to any changes in design they may have made, because the little stubs I have certianly appear to be pressed into the end caps, I suspect I will need to freeze them and put them into an arbor press or something to get them out, but not doing any of that until I get my paws in the replacements.
  11. Dion Yeah, I was alread designing a home made replacement in my head, very much as you described. The BUB pipes and slip-ons are designed and made specificlly for Ventures. I am hoping BUB will reply to my email and have replacement parts.
  12. BUB has replacements for some of the Harley pipes, nothing listed for the Venture, I have emailed them, I am hoping for some help from them.
  13. Gary, Thanks, but I certian that the pipe for the baffle must be more than 2.5 inches long. Essentially there is no baffle pipe to wrap with repacking, I can see where the pipe has been cut off with a hack saw. The end caps are just aluminum, no chrome, if I get the baffle issue worked out I will eaither polish them or black the out with high temp paint or powder coat. I have contacted BUB, will wait to see what they say.
  14. OK so I came across a deal to good to pass up, a set of used BUB slip-ons for a Venture for $70.00 including shipping. The seller said they were on the bike when he bought it and they were to loud, he found a set of stock mufflers and liked them so he offered the BUBS up for sale. I grabbed them, figured I would try them in place of my KromeWerks and keep which ever I liked the best and sell the others. Well turns out that some knuckle head has taken the baffles out of the BUBS, all that is left is about a 2.5 inch stub of baffle pipe on the inside of the end cap cones. I am sure I do not want to run straight pipes, the KromeWerks are loud enough. Does any one know if the baffle pipe in the BUB slip-ons can be replaced? Or have any ideas on how to fix a set of baffle pipes back into the cans? I assume the baffles are supposed to be removable so they can be repacked. I will be contacting BUB to see what they say. If they cannot be repaired, does anyone want a set of gutted BUBS for their bike?

  18. Try this link to Pashnit, http://www.pashnit.com/product/fuzeblocks/index_fuzeblocks.html Not cheap , but looks like a nice unit.
  19. Good luck Larry, hoping for the best.
  20. Condor, I was thinking the same thing, I generally log onto the site 3 times a day, first thing in the AM, noon and after work, not long ago the average number of new posts between my log ins would about 25, sometimes upwards to 35, the past few weeks it is down to about 10 new posts and has been as few as 2 or 3 in an 4 to 6 hour period. I am hoping it is just a phase, but we are ending the riding season for many.
  21. Probably act similar to a MotoGuzzi, and want to roll to one side or the other , as you noted.
  22. It has been working as advertised for me all along, I use it every time I log on, another thing I do it hit the "new posts" button just before I am ready to log off, just in case it did not refresh while I was logged on and a new posting was added that I can not see, that way I do not miss as many as I did in the past.
  23. Bustec has a few on their used list, here is link. http://www.bushtec.com/default.asp?page=xPreOwnedInventory Also check out this Delphi forum, sometimes there trailers listed. http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTrailertowing
  24. I use DRAFTSIGHT from Dassault the same folks tha make SOLIDWORKS, they offer a free down load of their 2D system that is nearly identical to AUTOCAD. http://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight/ When they took away all of the AUTOCAD licenses at work this what the IT guys us to use for 2D work if we were not drafters, designers or engineers with a need for 3D SOLIDWORKS. I use it at home also. The oly problem I had was one version did work the current video driver on my laptop, so I had to update the driver and it was all good.
