  1. Are you sure he did not change the air filters to K&Ns or open up the air boxes? I had a similar issue on my 07 when I added K&Ns and opened up the air boxes to much. I fixed the problem by adding one shim under the diaphragms, still had just a little hint of it on occasion. Later I put stock air boxes back on , but kept the K&Ns and no more flat spot.
  2. Told you that would happen, good on you.
  3. look on the right side of the upper command ribbon and you will see a Donate button, click it should be self-explanatory from there.
  4. Here is what mine looks like, I have added the 100 LED board from Custom Dynamics, a LED bar from R&P Carriages under the trunk, Harley Tail Lights and a couple of high out put LEDs from R&P Carriages. The brake lights are on a modulator that flashes 3 or 4 times and then goes solid for a period and then starts the flash cycle over again. I also added a diode net work for the light bar so the left or right segments on the light bar flash with the turn signals. http://s40.photobucket.com/user/royalsteve/library/VENTURE%20REAR%20LIGHTING If you decide on a set of lights to add, I sell a plug in "T" harness that will let you tap into the tail light circuits with out having to cut into the harness, see my add in the classifieds under member vendors.
  5. Another trick for collet type tool holding systems is to never tighten the collet with the tool shaft all the way to the bottom, always leave a small gap between the end of the shaft and the bottom of the hole. That way if the tool is stuck when you want to remove it, you can tap down on the tool to free it from the collet's grip.
  6. That double looking nut should be a left hand thread if I am not mistaken, did you try turning it right to loosen?
  7. You can get full strength seafoam directly into the carbs, if you shut the petcock off and let it idle until she starves for fuel. Then take the hose off the petcock and add an extension to it that will reach into a can of seafoam. Turn the key on and the fuel pump will suck the seafoam directly into the carbs. Let it set for several hours to loosen everything up , hook the fuel hose back up to the petcock and start her up and let her idle for a while to get the seaom out of the carbs and the gas mixture back in. May be a little hard to start on pure seafoam, but it will start may run a little rough at first but will even out once the gas starts to reach the carbs.
  8. Yeah, I watched that the other day, interesting in deed, there are so many ways that we have screwed up this planet doing something that was deemed OK at the time. I know there is a lot of controversy on reintroduction of wolves, but they were here before we were and they serve a purpose in the grand scheme of things.
  9. Here are two listings in the classified section for some Harley slip ons, should sound better that drilled out stockers, may be a bit louder than Yamaha stockers, ask Jeff and Freebird how they sound. This first listing is here in Florida. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4905&title=road-king-mufflers&cat=7 These are in Ohio http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4901&title=harley-mufflers&cat=7
  10. It is proabably taller than most of Lotus's cars are. I like the British Racing Green one.
  11. Those will NOT fit a second Gen Royal Star Venture, Tour Deluxe or original Royal Star of any model. The heads on the Royal Stars of all types are designed differently and the exhaust ports are in different locations than on the Gen I Ventures and Venture Royales.
  12. Your experience with DYNA is contrary to every other post I have read over a good many years, DYNA is normally a very good product and they normally stand behind their products, I have read postings on other forums where similar issues have plagued other owners and DYNA replaced the unit for them no questions asked. Curious, have you tried various settings on the dip switches to see if other settings act similar?
  13. Had a 98 Tour Classic (Green and Tan) for 9 years , put 96 K on her, sold after I bought my 07 Venture, which now has about 70K. The 98 is still around town, get to see her on occasion, the 07 is going strong and I feel like I am still in the break in period.
  14. I work for a Teledyne, which is a large growing company that spans many industries, I would highly recommend that anyone looking for work in a technical field check out their web site at http://www.teledyne.com/, there are 4 divisions and some companies serve more than one division, so you need to look at all of the various web sites for each company to be sure you see all of the oppurtunities. I do not hold any sway with any of them, and I cannot accept your resume if you send it to me, all aplications must be posted to the company web sites. Teledyne typically pays above the area norm, I know they do here in Daytona. Dion if you are not stuck on staying in Sebring, Daytona is pretty nice area. Anyone in or around Huntsville, Teledyne Brown Engineering is almost alwats got opening of some type. Just to name a few that I am familar with. Good luck to all in the hunt for work.
  15. Here are the links I promised, http://forums.delphiforums.com/vrider, http://forums.delphiforums.com/royalstar, Just ask the same question, or do a search for engine swap, I am sure Tank will chime in he is very active on both forums. I do know engineers quite well , I work for and engineer to order firm that services the sub sea oil and gas market, prior to that I worked closely with aerospace engineers on tactical missiles for the Navy. They like everyone have their faults and need to be dope slapped on occasion, but in general they do good work and have reasons behind what they do. Trust me there is a reason for those struts, can you remove lots of stuff from that bike and still have it run, absolutely, should you with out knowing the full extent of why that part is there and the potential consequences, not a good idea in my book. They may be there due to guidelines inposed by Yamaha to ensure a certian safety factor is met in the design, such as what happens to the motor in the case of a crash. Anyway it is your bike do as you please, if you elect to remove the struts and later decide to sell the bike, please be sure to tell the new owner about the mod so he / she can make their own decision on if they need to be installed or not.
  16. I am no authority on this by any means, but I can tell you that the original Tour Deluxe that were made using the original standard Royal Star motor and frame (96 to 01)did not have those extra struts, but that motor also put out about 20 horsepower less than the Venture and newer Tour Deluxe mootors. A few folks have swapped out the newer Venture style motor into the older (96 to 01) model Royal Stars, most notably Tank from the Delphi Venture forum, you want to ask him what he did with the motor mounts, because I am sure he did not use the upper portion. If you are not familar with that forum I can post a link later if you need. My personal take would be , that the engineers at Yamaha had good reason to add those struts, they certianly did not add them for the looks, so they probably have a very useful function that if removed could cause problems in the long run. But that is just me.
  17. Jeff I hated to see you sell the bike, but I know it was the right decision at this time, all I did was to post a link to your add on one of the posts by Dave over on Delphi, I think the bike sold itself once the right person saw it. Hoping to see you back on two wheels one day, you know when it comes time you may want to consider one of the original (96 to 01) Royal Stars, they sit a bit lower than the Venture, not nearly as heavy and still provide a good deal of comfort and the ergonomics are nearly identical to the Venture as far as riding position. There are a bunch showing up on Craigs list for really reasonable prices now, so they should be very affordable when ever you are ready to get back in the saddle.
  18. and the issue is:confused24: Posted before the OP edit
  19. I wonder if there is drain under the drink holder so the condensation dripping off a cold one will create the obligatory wet spot underneath.
  20. Prayers sent, for full and rapid recovery.
  21. Try this post from a few years ago. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30999&highlight=Freebird
  22. That sort of air cleaner mod was posted here a few years ago, I am not sure if I can find it or not, but I will look.
