The ability to do that will depend on the material the hose is made from. If made from a old school rubber compound it may not work so well because they tend to be thermoset materials and once cured (vulcanized) they maintain their shape. Many of the new rubber "LIKE" materials are actually thermoplastic materials, they may not want hold there new shape when they get hot again, depends on the temperature required to make them soft again. I hope this works out well, it could be a life saver later in life when parts are no longer available.

Lost Seat Hold Down Nut Replacement - 2nd Gen
M61A1MECH replied to KeithR's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
if you do loose your seat retaining nuts and do not have something on the studs to keep the seat on the bike and your Venture breaks down and you have to have it towed, there is a good chance you will loose your seat some where along the way during the tow. Just Sayin -
Need help adjusting front brake lever......
M61A1MECH replied to jurob's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Maybe you have the jam nut to tight and the lever is binding in the clevis. Is the return spring item 4 in this IPB installed? http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/50045f62f8700209bc794de9/handle-switch-lever -

IronMike, The picture that Mike G has does not show the Type-2 light bar harness, the Type-2 has 5 extra wire pig tails that are soldered in and allow you to splice into the harness for trailer wiring with no cutting required. Those and my regular "T" style aux harnesses are listed on the classified section under member vendors, look for my forum name, M61A1MECH. Here is a link to my ads. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=35 -

Doyle, I just replied to your PM, the connectors you are looking for are under the driver's seat near the battery box, normally on the left side. they should be white, they may be buried a little bit. The black ones under the passenger seat are not the correct ones. -
Carbon one here on the forum, see member vendors, makes a very nice adapter for the Venture. I am not sure why the Tour DeLuxe would be different from the Venture, the frames are the same, the balance will be a bit different because of the trunk andthe fairing. What I did before I got my Carbon one adapter was to make some 1.5" thick wooden blocks that I put betwen the jack and the frame to get the contact points I wanted, the one on the left front had to be notched out to fit around the kickstand switch, lots of folks are using hockey pucks, but those are not very common here in the deep south. hope this helps.

My lap top goes stupid every now and again, normally a good reboot fixes it, I have seen the time or two when I had to shut down the router and disconnect all the cables and reboot it before it would comunicate, do not ask me why it worked , it just did. Also my Acer laptop has an ENet management icon on the lower right tool bar, opening that up and using the built in diagnostics on that usually works , not sure if your PC has something similar or not.

Just besure to catch the spacer on the top rear one, and also watch for the rubber bushings, metal bushings and washers on the ones in the bottom of the bags, sometimes they get stuck and make it a bit tricky to get them loose and some times they fall out and you do not notice them.

Loctite should not be used on or near any type of plastic especially ABS, like the plastic on the Ventures. Just the fumes can cause the plastic to stress crack and crumble.

Barry you are welcome, anytime I can be of assistance I am glad to help. That route back may not have been the most direct, but should have been a bit cooler than the interstate. -
Not sure if this was mentioned in this thread or not, I may have missed it, but if you are having issues getting all of the air out, you can tie back the lever against the grip and leave it over night the air will tend to migrate up out of the lines into the master cylinder. This works on the brakes as well as the clutch. A little careful tapping or vibrating on the lines can help to shake the bubbles loose that may be clinging to the inside if the lines or fittings, just do not over do it to where the fluid starts to splash out of the master cylinder if you have the cover off. Brake fluid eats paint and plastic for breakfast, lunch and dinner, if any is spilled on painted or plastic surfaces get it off immediately and wash the affected area off with soap and water and then rinse completely.

Who would be interested in these?

WillyB I picked mine up at a local swap shop that goes on every month in Webster , Florida. I hve been many times , sometimes they have them sometimes not, sometimes in good shape sometimes not. I have also seen a few for sale here in the classifieds. I have seen them on Ebay, I think they are out of production , so they are getting scarce. There is a write up on installing them that Freebird did in the tech section for second gens if you are interested. -

I just installed a set of Harley tail/brake lights on a Venture, I made a pair of jumpers so there is no cutting or T-tapping into the existing wires was required. See the attachment for photos of the brake and taillight jumpers, each has single male bullet pin on one end and double female bullet on the other, with clear rubber boots. These plug right into the factory set ups behind the license plate. I could supply these jumpers and a mating male bullet for you to attach to what ever you are wiring up for $3.00 each plus postage. Trying to gauge interest, if there is enough I will post them on the classified sections under Member Vendors section. Let me know what you think. Thanks

You missed some good home cooking. Barry and Sunn are on their way home, I took them about a quarter of the way back on state road 42, pointed him towards US 301 , as long as he makes a left a US 301 he is in good shape. -
The slave cylinder is # 27 in this break down. http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/50045f8cf8700209bc794e73/clutch

This sounds goofy, but here is what happened to me once. Had a turn signal circuit flashing fast like one of the bulbs was burnt out, but all bulbs were lit and flashing. Swappped the front bulbs left to right the problem followed the bulb. Replaced the suspect bulb and everything was fine. The turn signal filament on that bulb was broken and some how the run filament was flashing in it's place, the resistance on the two filaments is different so that affected the rate of flash, so check your bulbs, could be taking the stuff off jarred the bulb enough to make the filament break.

Venture LED Fork Lights/Reflectors
M61A1MECH replied to Karfreek's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If the LEDs are not dual intensity or there is only one circuit in the light you will need something like this to convert it to be run / turn or run / brake. It has a diode and a droping resistor to reduce the voltage to the LEDs for run mode ond no resistor for brake / turn mode which makes them a bit brighter for the turn or brake mode. http://www.chromeglow.com/catalog.asp?prodid=520657 -

There is a section on the 96 to 01s, just page down to find it, I did not see a short cut to them, maybe one of the moderators can put a short cut in for that section.
