  1. All of the models that have the switch mounted forward on the left under the tank have issues with the switch failing, mostly due to the heat that it sees from air coming through the radiator. When they went bad Yamaha would replace them with an upgraded switch that is more robust and seldom failed. One way to know if the switch has been replaced is if you have different keys for the ignition than you do for the gas cap or saddle bags if it still has the hard factory bags installed. The switch on my 98 Tour Classic failed while it was under warrenty, Yamaha replaced it and gave the bike back to me with 2 sets of keys, I pitched such a fit that the head mechanic said , just bring it by one day and I will re-key the ignition with your old tumblers. He did just that next time I was in the shop. I rode the bike for probably 7 more years and 70,000 more miles and never had an issue with the ignition.
  2. Probably the isolator is not wired correctly, maybe bad connection (crimped on to insulationinstead of conductor) or is defective. Try switching the brake circuit that goes into into the isolator with one of the turn signal inputs see what happens.
  3. Does your modulator have dip switches on it where you can set different patterns? If it does try using a different setting to see if that works, could be part of the IC chip that controls it is bad and other part scould still be OK. Just a thought.
  4. That is as Mike decsribed it the drain for the area between the water pump and the crankcase, if coolant comes out you have a bad waterpump seal, if oil comes out you have a bad oil seal on the crankcase. The seals are for the driven shaft that comes out of the crank case and goes into the water pump.
  5. bmiller, when get around to hooking up your battery monitor, if it is one of those LED ones like Kuryaken sells, check out item 2 on this classified ad post, easy and basically plug and play. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=5049&title=plug-and-play-electrical-jumpers&cat=35
  6. Here is a new direction for Yamaha. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=7&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CDoQqQIwBg&url=https%3A%2F%2Fautos.yahoo.com%2Fnews%2Fyamaha-01gen-worlds-most-interesting-182051594.html&ei=kuwvVIi4B4WGyQTd5YDgDA&usg=AFQjCNGSP9VdRdSxFetiTJVjDNGns_EkGQ&bvm=bv.76802529,d.eXY
  7. There is more under the seat than you think, root around in there and reposition the wires and you should be able to make room.
  8. Still very partial to Emmy Lou Harris, when she and Mark Knopfler did an their "All the Road Running" album I bought it as soon as it hit the stores, still listen to parts of it almost every day. Interesting bit of trivia, she and I share a birthday, April 2, she is a few years older than me, but not many.
  9. I believe Susan's husband plays or at least did play in the Allman Brothers band for a while. They live just out side of Jacksonville , FL, I have also been listening to her music for a few years, first heard of her on NPR believe it or not. If you are are Clapton fan, here is one that you may not have heard of, J.J. Cale, had a very strong influence on Clapton and Mark Knopfler. J.J. Cale actually wrote :Cocaine" and "After Midnight", he passed away sometime last year. Clapton and Knopfler have done a tribute album to him.
  10. Had them on my 07, wife liked them so much, I had to find a similar set uo for the Goldwing when I got it, installed some and now she is happy again, thank the Lord.
  11. Carb tune, worked for me for about 10 years. http://www.carbtune.com/
  12. The only thing with lighted reflectors that bill4you502 used was that they were from China and of the 6 he ordered 2 of them had bad LEDs in them, he sent me 4 (2 front & 2 Back) to prewire for him, 1 of the four was bad, he had two more drop shipped to me and one of those was bad. At the end of the day I was able to deliver 4 good units to him all plug and play but it took a while and I never did hear if he was able to get his money back on the bad units. Fortunately they are not expensive, but that is not the point.
  13. Yeah me to, Ms. Marilyn should be with me, have we settled on a time and location to meet?
  14. Jack, Jonas (StarFan) purchased two harnesses that go to my run/turn/brake light bars from me, one for his bike and one for a friend, for use with the light bar he had already purchased. My harness that goes with the run/turn/brake light bar is similar to a 4 to 5 wire convertor. I thought you bought a couple of those from me.
  15. Looks like KHROME WERKS is supporting the units they made that fit the Venture. I just queried their web site for the part number and various replacement parts all came up no part found. Shame because they looked good and sounded good also.
  16. I am, I am and have been since 2001, I am VP for the Orlando Chapter and a member of the Melbourne chapter, now that I have a Goldwing, I am not sure what I will do when renewal time comes around. The return on investment here at VR is much better than at STAR. I ride more with STAR members, but the technical support here is much better.
  17. OK, be looking for it.
  18. That is not a Yamaha product it is an after market unit, there are a few folks that sell them, they come with out the chrome bezel most of the time, the chrome bezel can be obtained from most sellers. I sell a plug and play kit that uses that light bar , but no chrome bezel, here is a link to my ad. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4943&title=run-2fbrake-2fturn-light-bar-for-2nd-gen-venture&cat=35 I could probably find the chrome bezel if some one wanted one.
  19. I bought a marker stone from Old World Stones when Rascal The Cat died suddenly a few years ago, put it where we buried him, can't go in the back yard with out thinking of him. http://www.oldworldstones.com/gallery.htm
  20. Sorry to hear this, I know how they get some deeply inbedded into your life, we are struggling with same decision concerning our oldest cat, he has gone from 13 pounds down to 5 and is fading more and more each day, it will not be long. They take up such a large part of your heart, it is hard to let them go.
  21. I do not know anything about that particular trailer, but when get ready to hook up the electricals, check out my ad in the classifieds, I am sure I can help you out. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4200&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-royal-star-venture&cat=35
  22. Keep an eye on this web site, Teledyne has a lot of divisions, the one I work at in Daytona Beach has hired about 50 people this year and we still looking for more. http://www.teledynecareers.com/
  23. I have been a might confused a time or two , but I have never been lost.
  24. The passenger volume control only works for the passenger headsets, does not control the speakers.
  25. Do not let anything but fear and common sense get in your way.
