  1. I posted some photos a while back, here is a link to that post. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=850997#post850997 I have made a few subtle changes since those photos, most notable is removal of the giant windshield in favor of the stock windshield.
  2. Thoughts and prayers for speedy healing of body, mind and spirit.
  3. Bubber I bought mine from RidersNeeds.com, I think through Amazon, maybe Ebay, the number on the invoice I have says P/N 18-4615 YAMAHA, from K&L. Here is phone number for RiderNeeds 877-547-0777, their web presnce is iffy when you search for their website and ebay shows their ebay store to be closed. Maybe this helps.
  4. Same thing I did when my fuel pump quit.
  5. Mike, Do not plan on going any where, as long as both will have me, just starting on the learning curve for the GL, will take a while to get a knowledge base built up on this girl. As long as I do not toast to many brain cells I will continue to contribute here and there when I can.
  6. Yup, a lot of mixed feelings, but I am sure I made the correct decision.
  7. Just got home from the dealer that had my 07 Venture on consignment, was going to drop off the spare keys and chit with the key number, but they sold it last night. Asked them to have the new owner contact me so I can turn them over to him or her. I am going to miss the Venture, but I am going to love riding this Goldwing.
  8. Barry, I would expect if you contact a local Honda dealer and give them your VIN number they should know. PS, My Venture sold last night, stopped by the dealer today that had it on consignment and they confirmed it was sold.
  9. Mike Here is a great thread by Goose on changing the coolant, http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37353 I always use the pre mix Honda stuff from he dealer, not cheap but I know it is the correct stuff. Avoid any auto coolant that has silica in it, they add silica to act asa scubbing agent to remove corison build up, but it can be harmfull to the water pumps on the bikes, I see this on both Yamaha forums and now Goldwing forums I frequent. I have been known to let mine go well past the recommended time and interval, with no issues. Funny I just did the coolan change on my Goldwing last week end , because it had hi the recommended miles, and not really having any history on the bike, I thought it best to know where i was with it.
  10. I put Grip Puppies on my 07 right after I got it, they cover the stock grips and give a more comfortable grip, They are inexpenisve and if they start to to go bad, tearing or chalking on my hands, just peel them off and replace them. I always bough mine from California Sport Touring, but they are out of buisness, here is a link to Amazon that lists various types of Grip Puppies and similar items. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=grip+puppies+motorcycle&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=13952733741&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7068880474935219477&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_1zgyt9fd96_b
  11. Had a similar but different event on my way to International this year. Somewhere in middle Georgia the band on my not so old Seiko Kenitic watch broke, fell off my wrist , hit the wife in the foot and then the pavement, we were several miles down the road before I figured out what fell off the bike and hit the wife's foot. I am sure it did not survive.
  12. Barry, Yes, stay with the 4th.
  13. Works for me, as long as I in town. Gotta go to Tijuana some time in October but no dates set yet.
  14. I can hook you up with the break out harness so you do not have to cut any wires, I do not supply trailer harnesses, converters or isolators. I can help you select them. See my ads in the classified section under member vendors. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=35 You can also check out Bushtec, they make a very simple bolt in hitch system. http://store.bushtec.com/product-p/944316.htm
  15. Depending on what you are doing you can tap into the circuit that powers the cigarette lighter in the fairing. Split the fairing and buy a jumper pigtail from me that lets you tap in easy as pie. Spliting the fairing is not much harder than taking off the tank. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=5049&title=plug-and-play-electrical-jumpers&cat=35
  16. Here is a link to a delphi posting for a set of LA Choppers for $150.00 plus shippng. http://forums.delphiforums.com/royalstar/messages/10055/1
  17. Glass termites , you may need to tent the house to get rid of them.
  18. Took my 07 Venture back to the dealer shortly after getting to fix the ever present "click clack pop pop" noise when backing it up. Got the bike back and like you heard a strange noise and no rear brakes, stopped and found the rear caliper had not been bolted back up. Right back , the service manager has know me for a long time and he knew something was wrong as soon as he saw my face, he looked at it, walked back found the mechanic, had him in tow when he came back, bike went behind the wall to get fixed and I never did see that mechanic at the dealship ever again. I normally do all my own wrenching, but to be truthful, as the years go on , I have found myself making some silly mistakes, like not checking the tigthness on everthing I took off and put back on a second time before I take of on the shakedown cruise, never anything dangerous, but it sure is annoying,I have fired my self more than once for being forgetful.
  19. Here is alink to Baron's site, mind you nothing the Baron sells is inexpensive and the 424 pipes are generally very loud. http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/category/20/index.html Here is alink to BUB's site, again not cheap but maybe the best sound on the market. http://www.bub.com/Yamaha_Venture.cfm?pa=list&psearch=&zsb=0&sc1=Yamaha&sc2=Venture&sc3=Slip%2DOns Vance and Hines Monster Ovals for the Road King or the FLH should also fit and have a very nice tone. http://products.vanceandhines.com/store/16795/ wow those are expensive, if they are the correct ones. Keep an eye on the classifieds here and on the Delphi Venture forums you will see various slip ons for sale from time to time.
  20. Yeah maybe a bit, but the object is to keep the bad stuff out of the oil, so why not, only costs a few dollars for an oil filter, takes maybe 5 minutes to change and you lose a minimal amout of oil in the process. When I was running dino oil in my 98 Tour Classic and changing it every 3k to 4k miles I changed the filter every time, so I figure I am spending about the same on filters as I always did and with the extended interval on the synthetic but at the higher cost I am spending about the same on the oil over the life of bike and I have piece of mind. Just in case you were asking.
  21. Once the battery is charged, check the voltage at the battery terminals, at idle should be 13ish volts, rev it up it should increase to not more than 14.5 or so. If the increase goes north of 15 volts , shut it off, the regulator is shot and not regulating, that will fry your battery, and it can explode. If no increase when reved up, could be Regulator is not letting stator voltage thru or stator is not producing voltage. To check if the stator is working, pul the regulator down and disconect the plug on the back. Check those contacts in he plug and the regulator to see if they are burnt or not. Start the bike and check for AC voltage form any of the pins on the plug to any of the others, you should get something north of 16 volts, check all 3 possible combinations (A to B, A to C, and B to C) they should all be the same. If no voltage or an inbalance your stator is probably shot, I think there is another connector in the stator to RR circuit further back on the bike near the back of the battery that is exposed to the elements and wash from the rear tire, some times folks have found that connection to be bad also. Hopefully some one with experience with that connector set wil chime in.
  22. On my Venture with synthetic oil I change the oil every 6,000, but I change the filter every 3,000. No problems in the past 73,000 miles.
  23. Walnutz Use this link to get to the Venture history page here on VR. http://www.venturerider.org/modules.php?name=history Should answer your questions.
  24. Triple J If you go for that look I have some set ups for connecting the electricals inside the fairing so you do not have to cut any wires, just unplug the factory wiring and plug in my adapters. Here are some links to my ad on the classified section. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=5074&title=back-to-back-bullet-connectors&cat=35 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=5049&title=plug-and-play-electrical-jumpers&cat=35
