  1. Just in case anyone close is interested There will be a memorial service on Saturday Dec 3rd at the VFW in Refugio, Tx at 1 pm. If you need any other info my # is 361 537 4589. Thanks again for all the love and prayers Don
  2. Drs called a conference today, Johns is doing worse. They're getting blood from his lungs. They wanted the family to make a decision. They say they're just prolonging the inevitable. Even if by some miracle he can pull through this, he'll have to be on a ventilator unable to breathe on his own. He'd more than likely be a vegetable. Calls went out and the decision has been made to pull the plug tomorrow. Gonna wait as long as possible but will be tomorrow evening sometime. I wanted to thank you all for your prayers. Look on the bright side he'll be with Jeanie again
  3. Just wanted to pass on what I know for those who are interested. Drs. have take John off blood pressure meds. His blood pressure is high enough they took him off. They've pulled a lot of crap out of his lungs, he still sounds congested, so there's still a long way to go. They tell me neither of his lungs are in very good condition "paper thin".The left lung hasn't been working at all and was collapsed. Nurse said latest x-rays show its inflated slightly. Hopefully as they pull the crap out of his lungs they will have more room for air and will re-inflate. He's starting to look a little better, getting some color back. But has now started to experience swelling in his hands and feet. They say he's retaining fluid from just laying there. So they're now giving him diuretics to help with water retention. They really don't know how much longer they"ll keep him sedated. I suppose until he kicks the infection. Overall he's doing better but aint out the woods yet. He's got a long way to go to get over all this. Drs say they're taking baby steps, but as long as he's improving they aren't changing anything. Once he has kicked the infection they'll re-asses where they are and what to do next. He has been a sick puppy for a long time. I guess its gonna take a long time to get better. I don't care how long it takes or what they have to do. I just want him back on his feet enjoying life.
  4. This is the latest news I have. Drs say John has severe case of pneumonia and probably has had it for 3 or 4 months. Somehow his regular DR. who is an old fart who spends more time as a patient than a DR. didnt catch it. They dont have cultures back yet. But they are still pumping lots of antibiotics in him. His lungs collapsed last night. they got that taken care of but the Dr said it dont look good. They dont think he'll ever recover, but they're gonna keep trying. They say they're taking baby steps. One step at a time. Still keeping him heavily sedated. Hoping that his body will start to gain a little strength and fight back on its own. He's resting and hopefully recovering. Blood pressure is still low 97 over 53 . They're giving meds to help bring it up but so far its holding around that same point. He's one sick puppy but its up to the man upstairs more than anything right now. Lots of folks praying for him, and I sincerely appreciate every one. Thanks, Don
  5. As of noon today the doctors are saying one of his lungs isn't functioning at all and will probably have to be removed. His other lung is full of pus [infection] they are gonna keep him sedated for at least a week and keep him on a breathing machine so his body can get stronger. They have been pumping fluid from his stomach cause they don't want to take a chance on him aspirating with the tube down his throat. They will start feeding through a tube tomorrow. Still pumping him full of antibiotics. Hopefully in a week or so he'll back to agrivating everybody again and stirring up the pot like usual. As I get info I'll post it.Thanks to all who've been praying. Don
  6. glad I have a copcicle, they dont bother me cause they think I'm one of them
  7. They're both good bikes. I think the first gen is a bit faster, a little more nimble perhaps but with my long legs I prefer the comfort of a second gen. I needed the addition of a back rest on the 1st gen and hiway pegs to stretch the legs. The 1st gen may be slightly more top heavy it feels like a higher center of gravity. With the seating position being more upright. To me I feel like I'm sitting ON a 1st gen and IN a 2nd.........Don
  8. Just killin time right now, its too early to go to bed........Don
  9. You got that right.....Hope you and yours have a great one. Merry Christmas Lowell and please be safe out there.........Don
  10. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, course ole Santa is gonna be checking his list and there are a few guys around here who may only get a lump of coal....you know who you are.................Don
  11. I dont see an option for ...It's still in lay away...LOL....Stuff she wants just costs too much to pay for it all at once.....Don
  12. Personally, I've never had a problem with my Sirius reciever picking up a signal, it even worked going through tunnels. It will however pick up XM over Sirius if there is another truck with XM nearby. It also picks up local stations over Sirius broadcasts in some areas so that I have to change the channel on my FM so I keep getting the right signal. it would be nice if they come out with an adapter of some kind instead of having to buy new equipment though.........Don
  13. You know Dan there comes a time..........maybe you oughta look into buying a nice new spiffed up second gen. Quit wrenching and get to ridin..........LOL.......Don
  14. Hey buddy that's so great to hear. Will keep asking the man to make it all right. Just hang in there an do what the docs tell ya. take care till I see ya again...............Don
  15. I joined a long time ago, just dont have near enough free time to do all the missions and such that I'd like to. It's a very humbling and rewarding experience. Cant tell you how many ordinary folks will go out of their way to say thanks and tell us what a good job we're doing. We have a meet and greet every third Sunday of the month. We move it around some so everybody has a chance to attend and dont have to make a long drive/ride to get there. Join up you wont regret it......Don
  16. Living on the Gulf coast I often have to fight 25 to 30 mph crosswinds. With my throttle loked down, if I pass an 18 wheeler or even an overpass, anything that blocks the winde my speed will instantly jump 10 to 15 mph.Yeah buddy, wind drag makes a big,big difference..........Don
  17. I bought a K&N from my local dealer for an 86 venture and it was just a lil over $60 if I remember right. If you intend to keep the bike for awhile it may be a worthwhile investment.........Don
  18. O K I guess you dont want training wheels. Which is basically what that kit is. But I doubt any manufacturer is gonna just let you copy their conversion kit. So blue prints are probably gonna be hard to come by. Gonna cost ya more to make it a trike than it cost to buy the darn bike to start with LOL. Good luck.........Don
  19. Ok guys check out this site mtcvoyager.com. They came up with a way to convert the bike to a trike and put it back to two wheels without any alterations to your bike. You may not wanna pay the $4095 they're asking but I dont see why you couldn't make something similar yourself........Don
  20. I have been through the BRC but thats all. I dont think it should be mandatory but it should be advised. There is one benefit in TX not mentioned in any previous post. If you take the course it"ll knock 10% off your insurance. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to taking the ERC.But ya gotta do it on your own bike...if ya drop it or wreck it it's on you LOL..........Don
  21. Bummer if you are anywhere near the Iowa 80 truckstop in Walcot then you have at your disposal the biggest truck stop in the world. Their cb shop should have absolutely anything you could possibly want for a radio. If ya ever get a chance to walk through the chrome shop you'll be amazed. They have a Peterbuilt all decked out with lights and chrome on one side and a Kenworth on the other, both on rotating turntables. Along the front wall they have a Freightliner with a 53' trailer and both are decked out with all the lights and chrome. All this is INSIDE the chrome shop. They are supposed to open a museum of antique cars and trucks somewhere there on the property, it might already be open I havent been out there in a year or more......Don
  22. By most comfortable..I think he meant that one you feel will be the have the best chance of making the trip with the fewest potential problems. You know your bikes better than anyone else so it's really up to you...Don
  23. FYI..If there are any truckstops near where you live, especially the big ones.ie Petro,Flying J, Pilot, Loves etc. They will have anything you could possibly want for a CB. They typically carry all kinds of antennas, microphones, cables, connectors, and even SWR meters. They cater to truckers and just about evry trucker in the country has a CB in his truck. Many of the larger truckstops will also have a CB shop either in their business or at least real close by...Don
  24. If the charging system is that bad you may wanna consider hooking up a trickle charger/battery tender to keep the battery charged between rides. Especially if you dont get to ride real often. If you only get to go a few miles at a time then the charging system wont have time to recharge the battery fully. Just something to think about.......Don
  25. Monsta, my bike is a 99 KZ1000 police bike(remember the TV show CHiPs) and the original tires were made to "run flat". If you punctured the tire or whatever you could still ride just as if it were fully inflated. Gotta remember what these bikes were made for. If you were chasing the bad guys you couldnt let em get away just cause you blew a tire, or take a chance on getting an officer killed in a high speed pusuit because of a blown tire. So I believe it was Dunlop came up with a tire that would'nt compress when you lost air, lots of plys in the sidewalls. Tires supposedly didn't handle too well though. I dont know, never had em on the bike.I'm not even sure they make these tires anymore. I know they dont make the bike anymore, although there are still lots of em around........Don
