  1. Is it unlocked or overstuffed?
  2. Most of us use a punch or a sharp nail. Its been a while and I think I remember using a sharpened nail and a hammer. Just go slow. Oh yea. A nearly full tank would be better. An empty tank and spark tend to explode. A nearly full tank and all you have to do is put the cap back on to snuff the flames
  3. I just bought a pair of these and put them on. They work good. You'll have to cut them down some as they are a little long. They just slip over your existing grips. I used and air compressor and the slipped right on. http://www.casporttouring.com/store/graphics/00000001/grip%20puppy.jpg http://www.casporttouring.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GPLARGE&Category_Code=Hand-Cont
  4. Actually if you ride at night, which I do about half of mine, You will see that the first time that low fuel light even flickers the unit switches to F. Kinda of hard to see in the daylight. It will be so dim the first time it flickers on you probably won't see it in the daylight.
  5. I seem to remember people stuffing oily rags in all the intake and exhaust ports
  6. Just hope the bike don't go up in smoke one day when you hit those horns. :rotf:
  7. Mine starts as long as I hold the button till it starts. Remember, these bike have carbs , so some airflow is needed to get the mixture right. A Fuel Injected bike will set the mixture right off the bat.
  8. Guess it depends on what the others your riding with use. Usually at the meet and eats we use the CB's.
  9. Check in the left side cover and under the seat by the battery. I think I remember it being a 30amp fuse.
  10. IT sounds like the main fuse is blown. I don't have the wiring diagram in front of me. The second thing to check is the Ign switch. It may be bad If you are getting voltage at the ign switch.
  11. Do you get any dash lights when the key is switched on ? Headlights and tail lights should come on also.
  12. I did my valves at 31k and they were in good shape. I would think if it was engine that you would get the vibration at the same rpm no matter what gear your in so speed would not be as big of a factor. I would look at the drive shaft, rearend, or wheels. Since it seems to be at certain speeds instead of certain RPM's.
  13. I bought the Diamond R backrest and it did the same thing. It pushed me forward and it distorts the passenger seat slightly. Have to live with the passenger part. BUT , It took the backrest off its mount and mounted it to the backside of the mount and it does not push me up on the tank anymore.
  14. Your CB is mounted under the trunk. So your going to have to place that somewhere else.
  15. I think they all do it when they are cold. Mine did the same thing. Somewhere around 5k I noticed it. That was 2 years ago.
  16. I never have problem in the mountains to about 8000 feet. Haven't had it much above that. They really good bikes.
  17. No, it won't hurt it. ITs a normal sound made by theses bikes. Just do a search for chirp and that will answer your questions. Of course it may take years to read all the stuff posted about the chirp.
  18. If your talking about a sound like the car on "The Jettisons" . That's the chirp some of them have.
  19. All Right, Now I can order those Aircraft Landing lights I been wanting...
  20. Glad all went well. About half my riding is after dark. A great set of lights is really important. After the Silver Star burns out go to a PIAA extreme white. Its brighter than the Silver Stars and will lost 10 time longer. You know your horn is loud enough when it scares the operator.
  21. He was referring to the "readers reaction" on the Lodi paper or Record paper link. They may have been removed by the paper already.
  22.:think: Me thinks its ridin time. BRAD ! you need to get your bike back together.
  23. Got this info from Rick Visitation is from 10am to 1pm on Friday. At Ben Salas Funeral home 149 4th street Galt CA 95632 Leaving at 1pm for the cemetery which is at 14180 Joy Dr Galt CA This may change somewhat so please watch the site for updates.
  24. Very sorry to hear this. As Don said, Keep us posted.
  25. Mine is pretty much stock and I get soot on the mufflers. But she still sounds like she's runnin lean when its hot out. I would say just ride it. That way your good at lower elevations also. Check your plugs. if they are the right color don't mess with it
