  1. Its more like gods way of saying you're on the wrong topic
  2. Coinscidently I was having a problem with my Ford truck..the power steering fluid was leaking and the Lucas stuff stopped it so I thought why not try it on the fork seals...So far it seems to be working..
  3. re: Leaking Fork Seal...my Rt Front Fork Seal Was Leaking To The Point Where It Saturated The Rt Front Brake Pads Making The Front Brake Useless...i Had Some Old Pads Laying Around That Still Had Good Meat On Them So I Cleaned Up The Rotor And Replaced The Soaked Pads With My Old Ones...now To The Point..i Had A Can Of "lucas Power Steering Stop Leak" So I Figured Why Not Try And See If It'll Stop The Fork Leak..with The Bike On The Center Stand I Lifted The Dust Cover And Applied The Stop Leak Then Put The Dust Cover Back..it Took A Couple Of Rides But Much To My Surprise It Stopped Leaking..on The First Rides I Took A Rag And Everytime I Stopped I Wiped The Excess Stop Leak Off The Fork...its Been A Couple Of Months Now And No Leak...
  4. Thanks Jack Got my brace today...It took me about 10 mins to put it on...looks great Bobcat..Reno, NV
  5. it could possibly be a steering head bearing......
  6. I agree with George S....All else doesn't matter if your pads are worn down too far..Do the easy stuff first....
  7. I agree with george s....I would take the plug off the TCI and clean it..its located under the false gas tank cover and under the battery..
  8. If it were me..................... I would start the bike and let it warm up for a few minutes...Then I would do the idle adjustment on each carb then I'd sync the carbs.. I do the idle adjustments by ear and use a homemade mamometer to do the syncing...BTW: leave the airfilter box all together or you'll get false readings..
  9. Condor Could you invoice me please.....bobcat (#30 on the list) bobcat04@earthlink.net BTW: Aluminum
  10. Put me down for one.....How do we go about paying for it...I've never used paypal so I'll be sending either a m/o or check. After you get enough participants who and when do I send the $$$$
  11. That one is easy to answer.....The inlet on the airbox cover is outside the filter..If that is still an issue you can alway tape the opening shut.. BTW: I just got back from your neck of the woods..went to a couple of spring training games..beautiful weather, nice riding country.
  12. Did you put any kind of filter in line in that hose? I would. Jeremy Nope...no filter..If you're thinking its a dangerous situation by releasing oil in front of the rear tire, its never been an issue and I've had it that way for years..... At first I thought the same thing but no oil has ever appeared on the rear tire..One probably gets more oil on their tires while cruising through a Walmart parking lot..
  13. Most bikes but especially my 86 VRs mileage is determined by speed..Of course things like head winds and climbing hills are major factors but overall speed is the main factor..I usually get about 40 mpg as long as I keep the speed to 65mph or less and take off gently from stops..I live in Nevada which has a lot of open roads so I find myself going 80-90 quite frequently..then my mileage slips to 33-35 mpg..
  14. Thanks for the replies....A fellow member has one that he is sending me from a 87.. I love this club and website for the info and help it provides....
  15. Thanks for the reply Bigin.....I'll try bleeding he rear and left front brake. What the H, it doesn't cost anyhing to give it a try..
  16. My present rotor is warped so I'm looking for a good unwarped rear rotor for my 86VR...If you have one for sale let me know ASAP....thanks Bob Martorana email bobcat04@earthlink.net Reno, Nv
  17. I'd also try taking off the covers and checking the diaphrams for holes.... About the spark plugs...I use to struggle with the plug socket in the tool kit also until I got a plug socket and universal..I use them in conjunction with a long extention and rachet..Now I can change plugs in about 5 minutes..
  18. Skooter.....The inner part of a plug wire is a solid wire...Nothing much can go wrong with it except right at the transfer point from the coil to the spark plug wire...If you think the wires are bad I'd remove each spark plug wire at the coil, cut off about 1/8" and stick it back in..
