  1. Many cellphones have a function on it that will restrict the number. That's if you're letting someone use your phone to dial a friend or something.. Also, I work for the Government, and 99% of our phones either say U.S. Government or Unknown or Restricted. It might not be bad... I usually answer anyways, it might be a friend in distress...
  2. I'm a Jet mechanic. I have 10+ years of experience, all working for the Gov't. Well, Navy to be exact (some don't consider it Military, lol)... I'm a Jet engine Mechanic (Aviation Machinist Mate First Class). But, obviously if you're mechanically inclined, you can work on anything. And honestly, if I can work on a Jet, I can work on cars/bikes/boats... Any other Jet mechs out there???
  3. Randy, I'm pretty sure that the green wire is supposed to connect to the positive of the ignition coil... The fact is.... A four cylinder is a four cylinder. If you will wire it to one of the ignition coils, it will pick up the charge from that cylinder (I think it is supposed to be the #1 Cylinder) and count it as a revelation. It will then see how many times it sparks in a minute, multiply it by 4 (for a 4 cylinder) and display it as such. It will also do the same for 6 or 8 cylinders accordingly. Double check that green wire. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to go to a POSITIVE, not a negative... Best of luck!!
  4. I didn't realize this until I went to Home Depot and got the wing-nuts. It's a 6mm with a 1.0 Thread count. I have some the previous owner had, and I have the wing-nuts I just bought from Home Depot. They were like, .36$ so I figured I'd buy them just in case the other ones fell off during a ride... Besides, I like having to be able to tighten and loosen them without needing any tools.
  5. I perchased my 2000 Venture in the biginning of January. It made it here about 3 or 4 weeks ago (to New Orleans), and during the ride, it lost the front seat. I talked to the guy who sold me the bike, he told me basically "tuff $h1t". I perchased a used seat from Pinwall Cycles, but they sent me the back seat. They have a strict to return policy, but they were very nice, and just made me pay for shipping. After all of that, today on the 16th day of March... I finally rode my baby to work... It was great. The seat doesn't have the mounting hardware, but it's good enough for now. I'll head to Home Depot after work, and maybe I can get something to work... I don't care, it's gorgeous outside, the bike runs great, and I'm gonna have a great week.. If you guys could feel my joy!!! I'm :dancefool:at work...
  6. From a kid's perspective, damn near any bike is cool. The Enduros (Dual Sports) are not true "DUAL SPORTS". They are like the game Grand Theft Auto. They're fun. But they do many things decently, but none very well.. In my eyes, I'd rather start him off with a 600cc street bike like the shadow or vulcan or something. If he wants to go to the trails, get him a 125 or 250cc dirt bike. But, from the 2 or 3 I've experienced, Dualsports lacked majorly to me. They sucked on the road, because they were just a little bit or torque in the midrange, they are a lot of gear shifting... And on the trail, they weren't any fun. They were too heavy to jump, and not a real off-road bike.. Get him a cheap little 500-600cc street bike, and put some exhaust on it. He'll have more fun with that. :mo money:just my $.02. You guys can keep the change:mo money:
  7. About a year and a half ago, PEPboys had a sale on theirs. It was less that $100.00... I got mine, and it worked great for my (then) bike (98 RSTD). It also works for my (now) bike (2000 RSV) pretty good. Just keep an eye out, they have good deals in PEPBOYS and Harbour Freight, as well. Just my $0.02 FYI!!!
  8. As much as I'd love to get that seat, it's a hell of a ride from Louisiana to Wisconson... P.S. That's a damn good looking bike you got there. I LOVE the color...
  9. it ain't no Venture, but it's still kinda cool!!
  10. It looks like you guys had a great time... If my bike was equipped with a front seat, I'd have been there..
  11. lol.. That was pretty good...
  12. If I had read this before I got the one off of FLEABAY I would have jumped on it.. Thanx, anyways, brother..
  13. Thanx a million, guys. I'm looking at a couple right now. The Pinwall one just posted last night. When I looked, it wasn't there... I think I'll just spend the 100 bucks and just buy it... I wish Rick Butler would have called or e-mailed me back. I'm sure he has a couple of seats in his little work shop..
  14. Oh, and it was a VERY important phone call. I HAD to take it!!
  15. :bang head:I don't know, Monty.. They took off, and it was there... They arrived, it was gone... Go figure!

  17. Thanx, Monty... It sucks looking at it, and not riding it. I don't care that it's cold outside. I wanted to ride the bike to work tomorrow.. I guess I have to exercise:fishin: patience..
  18. But during the trip from Palm Coast, FL to Belle Chasse, LA, the Driver's seat dissipated. Does anyone have a stock 200 RSV seat for sale?
  19. You can almost count me in, Tom.. If I am not out of town that weekend, I think I'll join you guys.
  20. :Venture:Yeah, I'm counting the days... :mytruck1:My father-in-law finally got it up on the trailer. It's gonna be driving to New Orleans Thursday morning. Squid, I'll try. I have duty this weekend, and I'll be on call (I'm the section leader). If I can get away for a half a day, I'll will.
  21. Around the new year, I bought my 2000 Venture. I upgraded from a 98 RSTD. I got it from a dealership in Daytona, but I live in Louisiana. My father-in-law lives 20 minutes from Daytona, and he's doing to drive it here this coming Thursday. I AM SOOOOO EXCITED. After paying that much money for it, and only having to see it in pictures. I should go to work on it FRIDAY!! :mytruck1:The Anticipation is KILLING me!
  22. :rotfl:Oh they're going to the superbowl all right!!! They'll be sitting in the 800 section!!!
  23. As much as I'd hate to see my kids on a bike, I'm not a hypocrite. So, When my daughter turns 2, I'll buy her a little battery powered trike. When she turns 3 or 4, I'll buy her a little 50cc 4 wheeler. And when she turns 5 or 6, I'll buy her a dirt-bike. That way, when she wants to get a bike, she will have good fundamentals. Kids will do whatever they want to do. Think back to the days when we were kids. I did whatever I wanted to do. I'd rather her be up-front about it, rather then going behind my back!!!
  24. Subaru has a couple of things that will always be standard. First off, it's alltime all wheel drive. So, you can not get a recent subaru that is either front or rear wheel drive. Another thing, is Subaru's engine. It's a boxer engine. It's basically the exact same engine in the Porsche, and the same as the oldschool VW bug/Beetles... Those are great engines, they last forever, and they usually sip fuel... Due to the fact that they are a well made car, great customer reviews, great gas milage, they are in pretty high demand. I believe the Outback got the Motortrend's SUV of the year. That's not too shabby.. Now, I'm not just saying that because I think they're cool, or something. I just sold my 2002 WRX. WOW, what a vehicle.. It was faster than a Mustang, and can corner better than a roller blader... You don't have to get a big SUV, they have "decent" room in them.. GO to a dealer, and sit in each one. When you find one you don't mind, get the keys, and go driving... You won't be disappointed...
