    The Stebel or the Wolo Bad Boy which are the same OEM are good choices and loud!! You can get the Wolos from Harbor Freight as well as some Auto supply stores...

    OK the aftermarket one came with the '85, and the OEM one I bought on Fleabay. The OEM face looks like the '85 up version but mounts in the center. The actual transmitter/receiver is in a separate box and mounted above the air vent. Also, if the CB was not available, then why have the Jack for the CB input on the system amplifier and the removable panel on the dash? Actually, on Goldie I ended up installing a MK2 unit where the MK1 unit goes by remounting my surge tank as far forward as possible and morphing the MK2 plastic mount on to the MK1 piece. I agree with you about no mention of CB in the TM but that is because it was an option, not standard equipmwnt. Not trying to start a war, Jack, you are my buddy and always will be!!

    Hmmm, then the 2 MK1 CB's I own don't exist?? One is OEM with the same looking switcxhes and display, and one is aftermarket with toggle switch and different purple display...

    OK the real problem is most likely your sidestand switch as they fail quite frequently. If you have any technical savy then check the resistance across the contacts. One set is connected when the switch is down, and the other is connected when it is up. The center wire is comon to both sets of contacts. If there is more than an ohm or two, replace the switch. Mine was bad with 6 ohms resistance!! You can temporarily tie al 3 wires together, and if the switch is bad, the problem wil go away. Not to stir the pot, but, a bike with NO electrical problems wil not draw any more current than normal, so a bizillion batterys hooked up in parallel will not do a thing. I was an Electronics Tech for over 35 years (Now electrohydraulic) so I think I know what I'm talking about...

    Yah! they are scarce indeed! Perhaps the easiest thing is to get the fairing pieces for a MK2 and install it instead. The class controller is the same, just mounts in a different location where the MK1 CB controller goes...

    Yes they did, both a factory and aftermarket version. Both were two box systems similar to the radio unit with the switches and display on one unit, and the transmitter and receiver in another box buried in the fairing below, just like the radio. If you look at your amplifier chassis you will see there is a din socket for the CB cable from the box to the audio system...
