  1. I'll be 64 in July, beginning to have problems with my knees. If they don't get better, then I'll look at "trikes".....either the New HD trike or have my 06 RSV "triked".......
  2. Just got out of the chat room.....hit 26 people in at the same time....... HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.....RIDE SAFE....
  3. WOW!!!!!!!!!! That is BEAUTIFUL! Actually, YELLOW, is one of my favorite colors....my Jeep is yellow and I have often thought of painting my RSV yellow but I have no idea how and can't afford to have it done. The black & yellow is beautiful together. What year bike is it? Is that a CORBIN seat?
  4. Actually, the dogs were not in the lest upset, to them it was just getting into the vans to go training. They actually were excited because they don't normally go out at night. So, all in all, it was just us humans than understood the potential disaster.........dogs are so adjustable to what is happening. As long as they get good food, good loving, they're happy..........hmmmmmmmmmm........sounds kind of like a GUY!!
  5. Hey Kevin, I live in Santa Clarita too........Newhall actually, let's get together for coffee.... Chuck (818) 822-7036 work cell phone:97:
  6. By now I am sure that everyone has heard on the news about the "FIRE" this past weekend that started in Sylmar, CA. We are all okay and the dogs are okay. We (5/6 staff members) came in around 1:30 AM Saturday morning and evacuated 69 dogs around 2:30 AM. We loaded up 6 vans with dogs in crates, on tie-downs (and a couple riding in the passenger seats..smile) and went to the Wal-Mart Shopping center in Santa Clarita, CA (which is about 9-10 miles north of the center through the Newhall Pass). The air was clear and we were able to walk, water and exercise the dogs. Around 7:00 AM, local puppy raisers started arriving to help with the walking of the dogs. Around 9:00 AM we decided to see if we could place the dogs in puppy raiser homes locally (throughout the Los Angeles greater area) so our Puppy Manager who was home sick in bed got up and started calling people. We arranged to meet at the Rose Bowl to place the dogs. To get there, we had to drive through Santa Clarita the back way up through Palmdale, CA out the 138 highway to the I-15, south to the I-210 back to the Rose Bowl. So, to get to what would have been a 45 minute drive to the Rose Bowl, turned into about a 2 ½ hour drive. When we got to the Rose Bowl, there was over 90 puppy raisers there to take dogs. By that time we had about 47 dogs left to place as the Santa Clarita group took 12. I can't believe how fast the puppy raisers mobilized and came to our aid. What HEROs. Anyway, the kennels, dorm and admin building received no damage other than ash accumulation and the smell of smoke. To give you an idea of how close the fires were, the Mobile Home Park that burned to the ground is about 1.25 miles from the school to the west, the hospital that was evacuated and lost some outbuildings is about ½ mile north of the school. At some points burning tree limbs were flying past staff members as we loaded dogs. The winds exceeded 70 miles per hour. I must say it was an "exciting" time. At any rate, we are all safe and appreciate the help from everyone. Chuck Jordan Director of Programs Guide Dogs of America cjordan@GuideDogsofAmerica.org (818) 833-6453 Direct line & FAX
  7. .....today I went on the Patriot Guard Riders website (haven't for a while) and went to the Letters of Appreciation....read on page 22 the following: 11/3/08 Oh goodness....I have no clue as to where to start. This makes me cry and makes me laugh and if I offend anyone, I ask you NOW ....before you read any further ..... to please forgive me....and my deceased husband! *smile* I cannot begin to tell you how many times we have seen in passing a group of you Guards....had no clue as to who you were, where you were going or where you had been! You could have been up to no good for all we knew! ...(you know....the bikes, the hair, the tattoos, the leather.....) Sometimes people can't see the forest for the trees.....this is so true with us. Neither John (my husband that you rode for) nor I like tattoos....in fact., we can't stand them! When we'd see people with them we would cringe! I'd say, "Why would anyone mess up their beautiful skin?"...and he'd agree....and we'd pass the "burley-looking" men and their women and wonder....really wonder....what kind of people they were. Well, let me tell you right now......I now know WHO you are and WHAT you do and WHERE you've been ....OR ARE GOING! ........ Don't be surprised if some time when you are out and about standing in some parking lot and some ole lady walks up to you and squeezes you to pieces without saying a word.....'cause I probably won't be able to speak for being so touched!....to just accept my big ole hug! From both John and myself! He would have been so proud! You did him good! I will NEVER look upon another "Biker" as a burley-ole-soul with nothing to do 'cept ride around on their bike! I ask you to forgive me....and John...for passing judgment when we had no clue! You people are the best! I cannot begin to thank you enough for everything you did for this family and what you do for other families. When I win the lottery I'm going to make a huge contribution! *smile* And for the person who played Taps.....thank you, thank you, thank you! All you dear, wonderful men and women of the PGR hold a special place in my heart! In loving memory of my husband, John L. O'Connor, SSGT USAF DOB 03/10/30 DOD 10/25/08 Barb O'Connor WOW! Broke me up....reminded me why I ride with the PGR....since moving down here to Southern California with the new job, just haven't had time to ride much, haven't been on a PGR mission since I've been down.....got to make some time in my life again to RIDE WITH RESPECT.... Have a good day everyone and remember, we can make a difference....
  8. Seeing a lot of them out here in Southern California. I think people that might not be able to keep a two wheeler up and balanced are looking at them. One of my guys at work is looking at them.....I like them.
  9. Ahhhhhhhh......seeing the post made me miss those early morning discussions, coffee, cig, "fixing" the worlds problems. Glad to hear you made it home safe......great pictures. Look forward to seeing you again next year (I vote for Medford)....... Ride SAFE..........and "leave the Harleys alone"..... Chuck

  17. Don't know if anyone from VR is in the pictures but it's a nice article. I picked one up last night and read it at dinner.
  18. I think that Black Cherry is a 2006 color, not a 2008 color...?
  19. I stopped by a HD dealer over in Yucca Valley, CA last Sunday while riding with a friend. They had a BEAUTIFUL white Utra Classic Screaming Eagle with lots of extras on it....it was the only bike in the store "without" a price tag on it.............hmmmmmmmmm.....wonder why..........guess they didn't want to give CPR to anyone that day. Have to say though.........it had me drooling.........good luck with your decision!!!!!
  20. I have been unable to write the last few days. Although I did not know Gary and Leslie personally, as everyone has said, we are a extended family and all feel the loss. My prayers are with Gary and his family.
  21. I put Metzler (sp) on my Suzuki Volusia a couple of years ago and they have been great. Improved ride with the tires, etc. Have about 8,000 miles on them and the tread is still very good.

  23. I went by again tonight.....the price is correct...OTD. They also have a new 2006 RSTD (Black) for a really good price as well. Someone that wants a good bike should jump on these bad boys.
