The difference between the carb tune 2 and pro is that the pro has brass nipples instead of the plastic ones the 2 has there is an upgrade kit for the 2 at a cost of around $20 last time I looked. Jeff

Dareman get a Carbtune the mechanic at your dealership is an Idiot sincing tuning the carbs helps the bike run properly at all rpm ranges and get better gas milage.Besides that even a second gen will run faster with properly sinced carbs. Jeff

I know I looks at thing differently than most of the so called bikers anywhere I work.Just last wednesday one of the so called bikers said I should take his car at the end of shift and drop him off on the way because the temps were in the high 20's and I have a 47 mile ride to get to my Rv.I said no thanks I prefer to ride besides I am not leaving any scoot in a parking lot overnight when I cant see it. Most of us do it seems act like everyday is a holiday I ride all the time and do not hessitate to get something for my bike I dont like chrome but if I want a new sat radio floorboards or what ever I just get it. Ride safe and have another 365 Christmas's Jeff

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of the members of this website that I know Personally and all that I have yet to meet. With the comercialization of the season lets not forget what this holiday is all about. I am looking forward to the comming year and all the possibilities that it holds for all of us. I would like for each and every one of you to say a special prayer for the members we have lost as well as all the non members that have been taken away from what we love to do. Lets not forget the Families left behind after all they are the ones that are hurting the most from the loss of a loved one. I think about all of the fallen members of this site every day and pray that their families have the stength to carry on. In the last 3 years we have had some of our VR Family members taken from us and some that have had near misses. All that I can figure from the near misses is that they are a wake up call for those members for one reason or another. But I believe we can all learn from each others lessons. Lets all stay safe and have a Healthy and Happy 2008 Please. Lets not forget the members of this site that need our prayers for strength to battle health issues. And the members serving overseas. Ride Safe and have a Great Holiday Season with your families. Jeff

Dennis if I were you I would look into the trailer that Bildar has its about the same size and very light. It would probably fit in the basement as well.I use a 5x10 landscpe type trailer when I move from job to job behind my rv and can get 2 bikes on it at one time although it is a tight fit. I am sure bill will give you info on the trailer if you ask. Here is a link with pics of his trailer being unloaded. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16921 Jeff

I had hippo hands on my 83 till I missplaced them. They worked great and the guy who sells them told me that even though he did not make them for my bike he would send me a set for a 1800 wing and if they did not work he would send me something else. They did fit even with the 86 radio controller and the home made cup holder (just couldnt use it).One thing I did do was to put skirts on them so that the wind was blocked out around the cables I could ride bare handed at 20 degrees.I jsut wish I could find them now. Need Brake Help Desperately
muffinman replied to kycaveman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Lee something else that has not been mentioned is the position of the rear brake pedal If it is adjusted too high it will keep pressure on the brakes.Adjust it down for more free play and try that before you start tearing things apart.I would be willing to bet that with moving the pedal forward the freeplay was removed that is whats causing the problem .Dont ask me how I know that this could be the problem. I am sending you a pm of something I want you to do, Jeff

I agree on this one but the real porblem is lack of parenting for the most part that and people are not held responsible for their actions.I like video games computers ect but like has been said in moderation they are fine.Margaret says I was born 50 years to late I think she is right.I have a hard time controlling myself when dealing with the younger morons I work with because they think everything should be handed to them and that they should be able to hear the radio enywhere in the hanger even though the crap they listen to should not be on in a work enviorment.Dont get me started on that one.The world is definatly in trouble most of the guys I work with dont read give me a good book and a quit place and leave me alone.I can survive just fine without electricity and technology but they are nice to have especially to keep up with this family. I had Mini hang my first bell from the right crash guard on a key ring. I am not sure if but I think the VR bell will be on a key ring attached to the front axle on the cotter pin. Yes I make Mini install them that way the gremlins will be real scared. Jeff

Mini and I use a 4 man tent from wally world.Bass pro shops has a nice selection of tents take a look at what they have to offer maybe you will see something you like. Jeff

I agree with the article as well and even though it would not be a popular thing here or anywhere with bikers.I think that a MSF course every 5 years might help prevent some of the accidents. On the other hand if the Cagers were trained to look out for bikers that would definatly make it safer for all motorcycle riders. I have repaired three of these radio units and there is NO backup battery in them. When my bike was loosing presets it turned out to be loose connectors. The only thing I found bad in one that I fixed was a bad internal cable. Jeff
-
The problem is either the connector being dirty or it has loose connections.Put some dielectric grease in the rectange connector inside the fairing under the cassete. If that does not do it test the red and the red/blue wire to see which one is power and which is memory power. If the dielectric and tightening the connectors does not help I would suspect the inition switch being bad or dirty all power to the radio goes through the switch.
