pktexas replied to dingy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Looks like it measures at 14 3/4". Mine is out right now awaiting on my rear drive coming back from RMSportmax hopefully tomorrow. -
I am having him re-gear mine also. While bike is down, time for valve check at 101k.

Miles, thanks for the post on the upgrade. I just boxed my rear diff up yesterday to send in for the upgrade. Looking forward to getting it installed and riding with the improved performance.

Don't know if this has been posted before. Found and ordered one these wall clocks off of Ebay. ($25) He has all models of MC and other vehicles. Just received mine today. Here is the link: Merry Christmas to me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-S-Wall-Clock-Free-USA-Shipping-/121033158081?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D4230751189823041217%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D121033158081%26

Don, I don't know about that. Maybe if I was retired. I think I will be replacing some of my parts before I need to replace anything on the Venture. lol Not much to be concerned with so far. The bike still runs great, regular maintenance. Keeping an eye on rear drive, some wearing. Thanks Jerry, she takes care of me. Can't ask for anything more.

Now for the next 100k. Brought my 05 RSV Midnight on 12-28-08, with 15k on it from PO. It has been a blast riding this past 4 years. Hope to keep it going for 4 more.

help installing new shock
pktexas replied to bikerjohn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
John, I just changed mine last weekend. I had mine on the lift to remove the rear tire,I was going to check splines away. Removing the is seat is good in removing the filler valve and the vent line like they mentioned. The nuts on the bolts are like they say, easy to strip. I had to cut one off and replace. Not too bad of a job. Perry -
Kenny, glad you are ok. Take it easy this weekend.

Brad and Lonna, thanks for hosting a great weekend. Enjoyed visiting with everyone again. The food was outstanding. I made several trips by Hals trailer before the official eat time and he would hand me samples. Great friend. Got my coolant changed out on the Midnight. Watched some other work getting done, always learn something at MD. Great group of riders here. Had a great helper with little Colton helping me again on MD. He is going to growup to be a super venture mechanic. Again, we enjoyed the weekend. Had a great time with George and Nora staying with them at their lake cabin. Loved sitting around the bon fire enjoying the cool weather.

Owen & Twigg, very nice write-ups on your adventures. Enjoyed the read. I learn everytime from reading about someone else's rides. Makes meu want to get back on the road soon.
-
Brad,Lonna, ready to MD. Mollie & I will be heading up Friday afternoon with George C. He has a place on Lk Conroe we will be staying Fri & Sat night. Nora heading up later that evening. Wanted to see if I can drop my bike off Friday evening. Between 3 and 4. Later if needed. Going to change out coolant on Saturday, have everything I believe. George and I removed his tank and carbs today, needs some TLC. Bringing some eats, corn casserole, peach cobbler, salad stuff. And some extra chairs. Ready to see everyone and eat some good cooking

JB, I have front avon venom that is still good for some miles, that you are welcome to. Can bring it on Sat.
-
Twigg, glad to hear you made it home ok. Understand on the DNF, we have all been there. But always learn something trying to complete one of these. Looking forward to the your writeup.

Congratulations on completing the Rally. Can't wait to hear about your adventure.

Highly recommend Ricks Mod. I had mine done at 30000mi and recently had him look at it again at 93000mi. I was having tailbone pain after some Iron Butt rides. When Rick worked on it again, I went on a 4500mi trip with the wife and no problems. Worth the money. He also he did my wifes vstar 1100 seat which improved it.

Twigg, Owen you two have a fun and safe ride. Wish I could have done this one. :080402gudl_prv:Will be following.
