  1. Still riding the 05 Midnight. Not as much as previous years. Bike has 149285 miles. Still rides great, hope to take on a long trip next year after retiring.
  2. Brad, Mollie And I will be attending. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
  3. Don, I think the site is still great as the day I joined it back in 09 when I got my 05. I do admit I don't check it as much as I did back then, but I have learned so much from using the site over the years. I try to check the site often. Most of all, is the friends the wife and I have met and think as part of our family. The local maint days fellow members put on here in the Houston area each year brings everyone together and welcomes some new faces each time. Don't have any ideas on making it grow with the Venture not being made anymore. But do think its going to be around for sometime. I know I will be keeping mine till I decide to give up riding. At 61 and 140k miles, I hope that's not anytime soon. Thanks for everything.
  4. Prayers for a quick recovery Rick, glad you are ok. Take it easy.
  5. I live about 15min from this dealer. I seen this on their site. Havent had the time to go by and take a look. Cant get by there till this Saturday. I'd call the service manager if you need info sooner.
  6. Brian, a beer after that ride would have knocked me right out. Went thru Plainview and got a receipt at 11:30p. I had to change my route since I was going to be a few miles short, hince the return ride back thru Plainview. Construction thru me and Garmin trying to find 70, but good ride back to earth. Would have nice to meet, maybe next time I am up that way.
  7. I was 15yrs old excited to be seeing the moonwalk. I even wrote NASA to see if I could see the landing with my Telescope. They even wrote me back, see attached. Was excited from the beginning of the space program. Dream job came true in 1980 in going to work as a contractor here in Houston as a Broadcast TV technician for covering the Space Shuttle Landings in Calif and New Mexico. As an Iron Butt Rider, two other riders and myself rode a ride from Earth, Tx to Moon. Pa. We left separately doing our own ride this last Wednesday the 16th, Launch day of Apollo 11. They did Bun Burnner Gold rides with 1500 miles in under 24hrs. I wanted to do a SaddleSore 3000 in under 72hrs from Earth, Tx to Moon, PA and back to Earth, Tx. We all completed our rides to celebrate the 45th Anniversary. Here is my spotwalla track of my ride. My 05 Midnight Venture did another great job in making the ride fun. Now with over 127,000 miles on her.
  8. Merry Christmas to everyone in the VR family.May 2014 be a blessed year for all.

  11. Used mine, got out in 76, no luck in jobs up north, moved to Houston, got a 2 yr associate in Electronics. Was hard working full time and going to school, but well worth it.
  12. Dave, I do have the long cable for the CD changer. Send me PM with shipping address and I'll send it out. Cable should be good, my changer died, so I went with the VentureampMP3 unit.

  17. Jim, I tried one on at CycleGear here in Houston, before ordering online. Can't remember where.
  18. Mollie and I are so sad to hear about Don's passing. He was one of the first VR members I met when I joined the group. Did many rides and M&E with a true friend and great guy. He was always there to help someone in the group. He will be missed. As we ride back to Texas from our trip, Don and his family will be in our thoughts on the road.
  19. :Happy Birthday: Happy 50th, many more. Enjoyed meeting for BBQ lunch today. Great conversation, motorcycles, guns, life, death, more motorcycles, and food.
  20. Paypal sent, prayers on their way also. Mike recently sold a guitar amp to a fellow co-worker. He could not believe how nice and helpful he was during the transaction. Testament to the kind of people on this site.
  21. Here are a couple of pics. Did un-bolt ignition coils to make room. Good Luck.Take your time, no fun doing it twice. Don't ask how I know. "O-Rings"
  22. I just did mine in Feb. Its a pain, but I came straight back. With some creative turning it came out without taking off rear pipe off Thermostat. I have some pics, but I am at work, can post later this afternoon. Be sure to change o-rings on pipes while you have it out. Perry
