When it comes to liquor, "Brennivín"is a national drink, a nasty schnapps made from potatoes and flavoured with caraway. It is also called "Black Death", which explains a lot. Many Icelanders never touch it, and a majority of the ones who drink it only do so when feeling patriotic, such as when attending Þorrablót or when trying to impress foreign visitors. It has a strong taste, a high alcohol content (37.5% ABV), and a dubious reputation. Sounds like fun. LOL.

Riding is my drug, no matter how down I am or how bad things seem I would get on the bike and within a few miles all the troubles would go away and just enjoyed the ride.

Man I am having MAJOR withdraws. Been almost 3 weeks since I sold my VR and all this great weather has me jonesing. Actually went to look at a bike yesterday but came to my senses knowing if I stay the coarse until the first of the year I will have my finances in good shape and be riding again. Does feel good to have all the bills paid and money in the bank.

Congratulations on escaping Michigan. Many more Michiganders will be following you. (Hopefully I will be one of them)

Food for thought, I had that happen a few of times on my 83VR. Come out one day and it would be almost flat, air it up and would hold for weeks at a time, then out of nowhere it would go flat again when parked. Turned out to be a bead leak and if the bike was parked with the tire in a certain position it would leak. Used soapy water to check cleaned rim and no more leaking. Strange but true.

Rode thru death valley in 2006, Goldwing said highest temp was 118F. Didn't really feel that hot until we stopped. Here is a two pictures. Some reason won't upload the others. The 108F in Vegas felt a lot hotter, with all the pavement got baked from the bottom up.

This is really a true story, it's about some nuts that think they are superheros that "patrol" the Flint area. I repeat this is true and actual facts. With all the crime here these nuts pull a shotgun on a loud motorcycle. http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/flint/index.ssf/2012/04/we_dont_carry_weapons_says_for.html

Ha Ha, The day before I sold the VR I sold a Vintage 1984 Raleigh Team USA 12 speed 555SL super tall that I had been holding onto. I couldn't ride it anymore after my first back surgery.
-
You all are on your own for awhile, sold the 83VR today. Had to to get money right again. Like some others that had to sell theirs I'll get another bike in the future. A very good friend bought it and going to hang on to it for awhile in case I can end up buying it back by August. Have fun finding the targets.....Karl

LOL. Looks like you have it covered one way or the other. Got a new target in mind??

On my 83 it wasn't the gaskets like I thought, both front inlets of the collector was cracked and leaking and gaskets were fine on the outlets of the front exhaust pipes. Took collector off and had muffler shop weld 1 1/2 ID adapters on both inlets. If your leak starts getting loud again you may want to check for the cracks.

No, a person e-mailed me this and I just thought it was a interesting way of explaining this economics Professors point of view. (plus it said BEER) I didn't post it for any political reason at all. Hope I didn't make a mistake posting it.

The Tax System Explained in Beer April 2, 2012 Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this… The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing The fifth would pay $1 The sixth would pay $3 The seventh would pay $7 The eighth would pay $12 The ninth would pay $18 The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 So, that’s what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20″. Drinks for the ten men would now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men ? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by a higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out the amounts he suggested that each should now pay. And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% saving). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% saving). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% saving). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% saving). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% saving). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings. “I only got a dollar out of the $20 saving,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,”but he got $10!” “Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!” “That’s true!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back, when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!” “Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!” The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how our tax system works. The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D. – Professor of Economics.

Sorry I wasn't trying to cause trouble. In Michigan I have only seen "welcome to State" signs hanging over the middle of major interstates. BUT I have really not ever looked for them anywhere else along the boarders. In fact as I think about it in Michiana, Michigan there is a road (Michiana Dr) that if you ride West you are riding in Michigan, but if you are riding East you are riding in Indiana. Should be some signs there. I guess I wasn't thinking adventurous enough. My Bad, I'm wrong. Please disregard my worth from my previous post.

Personal opinion, it's not something you can run across on a nice afternoon ride in the country. It's a ride the interstate to the edge of the State, stop on the interstate to take a picture. Just my
