  1. Started riding minibikes in 1964, at the ripe old age of 6. Had at least one bike at any given time, for the last 46 years. So I guess that puts me at 52! Bryan
  2. Deb, (UPDATE, KEN CALLED ME AND SAID THE # STILL DOES NOT WORK. I GOT THROUGH ON THE 608-629-9999 LINE. TRY IT. ) Bryan
  3. Steve, Hope you can make it. Only an hour or so from your house, I think. Ken, Lisa and I went through Sauk City just last weekend. They were having the MDS ride going on. BIG ride lots of bikes! Bryan
  4. Ken, Lisa got a kick out of that! But I don't want to be in your shoes now! You're on your own now Buddy!! She is as quick witted as you! She got the "Here's your sign" right off and was laughing her a$$ off. Took me a couple of um seconds. I'm the slow one. Bryan Bryan
  5. OK, Susan at the "Crooked River Resort" said they had a short in their phones and did not know it. Got it fixed and all is good now! (UPDATE, KEN CALLED ME AND SAID THE # STILL DOES NOT WORK. I GOT THROUGH ON THE 608-629-9999 LINE. TRY IT. ) Got our reservation made for the Wildwood cabin for the 7th to the 10th. She said they had rooms at the motel and a couple other cabins available too. Yes I know it's early but......... What the heck! See you all there, I can't wait! Bryan
  6. Deb, I ran into the same problem last night. I will check it out, kind of has me worried now. I know it was for sale? who knows? Bryan
  7. Well looks like the plan is going to be for October 7th to the 10th. (With the 7th and 10th as ride days to and from Readstown, WI) If anyone wants to follow us on the 8th and 9th that is fine. It's not going to be a race just a nice casual ride with stops and picture taking. Ken says he is going to lead at least one day, and ride up to Mindoro pass and Gran-dads Bluff, (two very cool places, with good roads and over-looks). If you just want to ride your own roads that is cool too. I'm going to try to get a cabin and anyone that wants to come "even for a day" can sit by a camp fire after the ride and BS a little. Bryan
  8. Well Deb, hope you and Gary can make it. Like to see Scooter Bob and Ceiling there too. Along with many more from the tri-state area, or more. Could make it a Meet & Eat & Ride and BS and sleep and ride and,,,,,,,, OH heck I think Leaf-looker weekend will work! Easyer to type anyway. Bryan
  9. Hello all you leaf lookers out there. "And ones that just want to go for a ride in some beautiful SW Wisconsin roads." Here is the low down, Ken (AKA 920Shrek1), Lisa and I were in La Crosse, WI last weekend for the Midwest Motorcycle Rally. We road a bunch of roads with GREAT valley and bluff views. When we stopped for the night over dinner we thought how great it would be to see some of these same roads / valleys and bluffs in the fall. The "Crooked River Resort" just south of Reedstown, WI, "in the beautiful Kickapoo valley", has 19 rooms and a few cabins. Room rates would be $65 a night and Cabins would very in cost depending on occupancy. The restaurant is open and even has a "beer / wine" bar. I talked with Susan "the owner and she seems like a real nice lady," she says that they are very "biker" friendly and just had the whole 19 rooms rented out to a bunch from Minnesota this past weekend. I asked when she thought the best time for "leaf look-in" would be and she thought the first or second week of October . So, Ken, Lisa and little old me thought we would just see if any others would be interested? Thinking of getting there Thursday afternoon, Ride on Friday and again on Saturday and then back to home on Sunday. Lisa and I may rent a cabin so we could all sit and have a beer or 10 around a nice warm fire after the days ride. Check out the link I posted and let us know if anyone else would be interested and which weekend 7th to 10th or 14th to 17th. I can get a block of rooms and such if needed. Ride safe and have some fun out there, Bryan
  10. Mike, Glad you made it through. I have to go back to Omaha to work next week again. If I get off at a decent hour I will give you a call and see if we can finally get a chance to meet? Be careful out there. Bryan
  11. I was looking once and here is the link that I was considering. Cost few hundred to a thousand depending? Bryan
  12. THANKS for the pictures. Wife's father lived in Mountain View till he died, and we went down every other year. It has been 4 years now and I want to go back so I showed her the pictures. I may get to plan a trip that way now! Bryan
  13. Annie, I have been to Australia and just want to remind you. We drive on the "RIGHT" side of the road here in the U.S. of A. :rotfl: I remember the first time I started to cross the "Queen's Highway" to turn left, got to to middle and Oops. And on the 4 lanes it is just so dang weird taking a ramp on the "Left" side of the road!!! Hope you have fun here and get to see a lot of our great country!!!! And I hope I am able to get to the Bosses MD to meet the two of you! Bryan
  14. This place is just up the road a couple of towns away from me. I always get a kick out of what they come up with next. Bryan
  15. ANKENY, Iowa -- http://www.kcci.com/images/structures/buttons/button_enlarge.gif http://www.kcci.com/2010/0708/24189952_240X180.jpg A crash on Interstate 35 north of Ankeny killed a 20-year-old rider Thursday afternoon. Police said Daniel Breuer, of West Union, was killed in the crash. Breuer was riding his motorcycle southbound and ran into the back of another car stopped in traffic around 5 p.m. The driver of the second car involved was not injured. Breuer was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
  16. Deb, LOL I know what you mean. I have been getting "points" for motels through work and we have been moteling it now for the past 2 years. Still take the trailer for all the goodies just not for tenting "much" anymore. Glad you had fun!!!! Bryan
  17. Deb, That is pretty much how we went in last year. 85 / 14 south out of Lead then left on Co Rd 205 / Rochford Rd. Nice little ride, and cool place. Had a burger, not bad either. Been to Nemo and Vanokers canyon road. ( I know I spelled it wrong) Bryan
  18. And this is the only post someone will show Yamaha's enginers, along with the guy that loves the 8-track, and they will leave the next years model like it is. :bawling: Knowing this what we want. 3 Bryan Just kidding Saddlebum
  19. Craig, Sorry to hear about your spill. Great lesson here to be learned too. Brother in-law turned in like you did but hit sand, looked like just a little, but turned out it was after a rain at that location and the sand was filling a nice 8 inch deep hole. Front tire sunk and down he went also, but only damage was to the bike. Praying for a speedy recovery for you. Ride safe, Bryan
  20. Put me in too. I have been wanting to make it to MD and this will give me more incentive to "NOT", put it off till the next year! Just for $hits and giggles I looked up what we are talking about, May was the latest date I could look up>($4,965.60 total) for both of them. Less than $35.00 each for 160 people donating! Not bad since I saw there were over 160 at MD this year? I think? 21. True Iowa has had its share. But, the last three were all wearing helmets too. There are a lot of things, even a helmet will not help you in. Guy lost control in Des Moines, hit by car, had helmet on. Kid on wrecked ATV found by a driver, had helmet on. Guy hit by flying mattress, had helmet on. Lady lost control after being ran off road then hit by TWO trucks, had helmet on. All resulted in deaths too. The best defense is to educate the public to watch for "smaller" vehicles, and to be visible when on a bike, and ride smart, (not smart a$$ like some). Just my Bryan
  22. FYI If you are riding through Iowa, WATCH OUT! Between flying matressess and now trucks crossing the center line running you off the road. Two trucks aginst little motorcycle is just BAD. BE CAREFULL OUT THERE!!!!!!!! GARNER - A Minnesota woman died this morning in a motorcycle truck accident two miles west of Garner on Highway 18 at just after 9:30 a.m.. Diane Mackenzie, 56, of Roseville, was killed when the motorcycle she was riding was involved in an accident with three other vehicles. According to the Iowa State Patrol, MacKenzie was westbound on Highway 18, when she turned her 1993 Honda motorcycle to the shoulder of the roadway to avoid contact with an eastbound vehicle that had crossed the centerline. Upon reentry to the driving surface, Mackenzie lost control and the motorcycle stated to skid and was struck by a semi. Upon impact, the motorcycle and rider were forced into the path of an International boom truck. The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol with assistance from the Garner Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
  23. PRAIRIESBURG, Iowa -- The Linn County Sheriff's office is investigating a fatal crash in which a motorcyclist was struck by a mattress that flew out of the back of a pickup truck. Police said John Saddler, 73, of Cedar Rapids, was riding his motorcycle near Prairiesburg on Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a mattress that blew out of the bed of a pickup driven by Roger Ockensfels. Saddler, who was wearing a helmet, was knocked off his motorcycle and onto the shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is just unbelievable how many pick-ups do not tie things in the bed down! I see it all the time. Bryan
  24. Saw another RSV in my home town! Had out of state plates, was going to look and wait for them but they were gone when I got back with mine. :bawling:Only gone 15 min, dang it anyway. Was a Gold Wing with trailer too, not sure if they were traveling together or not. Bryan
  25. Hot dang, it worked! I just logged one in Iowa at the ABATE Baldy ride last weekend. It was a blue RSV, never saw the rider? Bryan
