  1. If you build it they will come, well I know I will.
  2. Thanks Jerry T. If it worked for you then it should work for me also. I kinda figured one of them would (4613) work. To bad they don,t list it for the Venture to make searching easier. Ordered it today. Again thanks for the help.
  3. Anyone know if Kuryakyn makes a plug and play controller for the Venture. Just installed a RTB controller on the bosses 1300 v-star ( #4612) but I can,t find any mention of the Venture or a Royal Star controllers on there site, plug and play would be nice. Thanks:snow2:
  4. Is it to late to order a set, sure would like a set of those shiny deflectors. No rush, bike is put away until spring.
  5. Like a brother from a different mother, I think.
  6. Actually Bob your right about the forum and the advice, and it ain,t bragging when your right. The forum provided all the knowledge and from what I have been reading here I,m sure anyone else on the forum would have done the same given the oportunity. Maybe some of these dealers need the General Motors expierience of going broke as they sure seem easier to talk to and deal with lately. Some how I thought if a person was traveling on a motorcycle any where or in any country a dealer would be happy to change a tire or a light bulb or do an oil change to keep you on the road if your willing to pay for it as it used to be that way. Maybe I,m just a dreamer. Actually I take back the General Motors thing, I would hate to see anyone else suffer like that for any reason and I do hope they get back on their feet again.
  7. Sad part is both of us have to use this dealer for parts like oil filters and tires and the like. I know one of his mechanics looks at this forum so what do we do. Honda dealer here is the only other choice but if your on a Yamaha you won,t get so much as a bolt from them. Next dealer is two hours away, for a filter. First time I needed them they used a can of WD-40 to quiet the drive splines on the back wheel ( bike was one week old). So what do you do. I just go to VentureRiders org and get the answer from you guys and do it myself. Again thanks to this forum I haven,t been stuck yet and if that means to odd afternoon pulling wrenches on someone elses bike, so be it.
  8. Was at the local dealer yesterday to ask about checking the floats in my carbs and they didn,t seem interested to even look. Ok fine I,ll just drive it althought it seems alittle rich. Anyway as I was leaving I noticed a guy outside on the parking ramp pulling wrenches so went over to look. He,s got his bike tools on the ground and says he is taking his rear tire off. I say can,t the guys in the shop help and he says they said they are to busy. Isay you know you need a lift and alot more tools than that and he says I got no choice look at my tire, I do and the chords are showing:doh:. Then he says he made an appointment a week ago and now they are to busy. I see he has a RSTD and think that is the same as my Venture so to heck with these guys we,re taking this bike to my garage and doing this thing. So we load his parts in my truck and head for the garage. One hour later we are back to the dealer for a new tire and rear bake pads and heading back to the garage to put it all back together. One more hour and the drive shaft is greased with moly 60, the brakes are cleaned and installed and the tire is back on and properly torqued. Now just so everyone knows the info to do all this came from this site and all the guys who gave step by step instructions (and pictures:cool10:) should pat themselves on the back because without them this would not have happened. Dave said ( I think his name was Dave) thanks when he left so I thought I should pass the thanks on to you guys on this site for your effort to put the info on here without which we would still be sitting there cursing the dealer. Ride safe.
  9. I know this is for Ventures but I was wondering if anyone has lowered the front of a 1300t. I purchased a 2009 1300t for the Ghost rider(wife) and it sure would be nice to get it a little lower, 1 inch would be good. I have only taken a quick look at the forks so far( it won,t be home untill next week) and it looks very similar to the Venture setup, without the fairing. Anyone else had a try at this.
  10. Ordered some from them last summer (online). Got an e-mail back saying we don,t ship to canada:thumbdown:
  11. Not sure if it is available in the US but there is a show on called Canada,s worst driver. If you want a good scare, watch it. I used to think it was somewhat funny but when I think of how bad these people really are at the easy things like changing lanes or even backing up its a wonder they even have a licence. The one thing that stands out with alot of them seems to be a bad attitude. Be carefull out there guys.
  12. Just wondering about the SSN. Here in Canada you do not have to give your SSN to anyone, for any reason. The banks will ask if your applying for a loan but you still do not have to give it to them. They can ask for other ID and usually a drivers licence will work (they are not allowed to photo copy it) or even a credit card. They all know SSN,s are private but still ask, I have alot of fun saying no in colorfull words. Sometimes I wonder if Canadians even know this.

    New Trailer

Freisman, I would like very much to make it, been following that thread closely but just can,t commit yet. That is some very nice riding and scenery in that area. We went through BC (Fernie) last summer trying to get to Fairmont but got turned around by a forest fire half way there. All was not lost because we went south through the US and our dollar was a par then(the good old days).

    New Trailer

Well,,, fixing it means they are going to remove a 5 inch piece all the way around the trailer just under the lid and then put the lid back on and yes they(welding shop) think i,m crazy but it means she can,t bring a sink, couch and family pet along. There is still alot of room inside for the spare tire and 2 or 3 bags and that should be enough since she has to stay in motel rooms anyway. The one thing that concerned me with the trailer was the high side profile in a side wind so lowering it should cut down on that(I HOPE). Work was slow and I was bored, so that,s where these ideas come from. Gotta quit thinking so much.

    New Trailer

Aimhigh, I payed 2381.00 ca for the one I bought which was the small one(13.4 cu in). but that,s in Canada and I,ll bet you can do better in the US. Didn,t come with a spare tire but that was 75.00 at Canadian Tire. Scared the heck out of me when the boss saw it and said I can get alot of stuff in there. So it,s at the welding shop getting fixed.

    New Trailer

Thanks for the help guys. Have a hitch coming locally and will look into the Noesho swivell. Haven,t decided on wiring yet but it,s snowing here again so no rush. I,ll try to post a picture of the trailer after it comes back from the welding shop, had to make a small mod.
  17. So just purchased a new Aluma MCT and was wondering if anyone could could tell me where to get a swivell hitch to fit it. I,ll need to get a spare, which I can do locally but not sure where to get the swivell hitch and wiring harness. Any help would be appreciated.
  18. Guny you have great taste. Been looking for a trike covertion for some time and when I saw yours I said that,s the one for me. So checked pricing here in Canada and the closest dealer here (BC) just quoted me 20,039.00 CA. Guess I,ll just put a picture of yours on my windshield and keep dreaming. Hope you don,t mind about the picture thing.
  19. Help Please. Any one know if Cool Custum Trikes in Grand Forks, Minnesota is still in operation, can,t seem to get through to them on the phone. Also has any one dealt with them on a trike and how did it go. Thanks for any info.
  20. Come on guys help me with this. The better half would ride but it will take 2 or 3 years to get her up to speed on two wheels so we can go see new things. I,m just thinking three wheels will get her moving faster and I, m not sure how many good years are left in these old bones. The 3 wheelers are more money to buy and maintain but she may find it easier, please tell me if I,m wrong. Maybe it,s wrong to look at a first year bike (Harley) and would be smater to find a used Honda trike, I don,t know but sure could use some advise. There must be some wisdom out there in Venture land some where.
  21. Ok guys saw the new tri-gluide today and I kinda like it as an option for the better half. Was told 38000.00 ca for the basic bike. So what do you think, is there a better way to go such as the Honda trikes. To be honest I,m kinda leary about Harley as I had an Ultra Classic in the spring and I took it back after 1400 kms and two oil pump failures. My 2008 Venture is still gonna be my main ride.
  22. What Vgoose just said. Had the same thing happen just lately after changing the rear tire. Make sure the cups are straight and they should go back in.
  23. Ok it looks like the quik detach backrest from the RSTD will fit on the RSV. But does any one know if it will also fit if the frame from the trunk with the antenas and CB controls can be left on. That frame with an aluminum plate on it makes one heck of a luggage rack.
