First time it's done this... sitting still the radio sounds great, when i start moving i get bad static to the point you can't hear anything but the static. what's that all about?
-
Thanks Tom. Does the chrome lift up or come away from the shield? From the diagram it looks as if it will lift up and the tabs are at each end and possibly one in the middle.

I'm doing this on Friday, then heading to see Mike at the Yami dealer to eye ball some of those accessories they got off a Venture. He told me he has chrome floor boards, air covers and mustang seat.

I ordered a new windshield that should arrive Friday, and I plan on changing the oil too. Questions: 1) I don't have a center-stand, but I can still change the oil by myself correct? 2) For those who have changed windshields before, what should I watch out for? Thanks.

I have "almost' dumped a couple of times. What I have found is very crucial in avoiding a drop are a couple of things: 1) Always put both feet down when coming to a stop. You might can 1 foot a cruiser, but watch out for this 900lb hunk of top heavy metal, one slip is all it takes. (also, I have found do not ride with sneakers one, not enough grip, too slippery). 2) It is practically impossible for the bike to go over as long as you keep power to the rear wheel> when practicing U-turns for example just keep the power to the wheel, no coasting. 3) A sure fire to drop is playing around with that front brake....stay away from it. 4) Look where you want to go, never look down (that is very un-natural to do, but it does help the bike to turn), keep the power to the rear wheel and lay off the front brake...if you can do all of that, then you reduce the chances of a drop considerably. Okay, watch me dump it this weekend now

Where is a good place to go to get accurate values on motorcycles? For example, how much is my 08 Venture with 3,000 miles on it worth? Just curious.

OEM pipes I was getting about 42mpg, which worked out to about 165 miles until the light came on....noticed yesterday that when the light came on I was at 197 miles. I don't know yet what that equates to in miles per gallon, but I know it has increased by a few miles per gallon. (95% of my riding is all two-up, so I was pretty pleased with 42mpg).

YES. We went to Mt Cheaha Tuesday and on the way back my lower back was killing me. I'm having an issue with my rear end...thought it was the splines, now the noise is getting louder...so, the rear end may be going out. It's possible the bike will be out of commission for a while.

I have to thank yamahamer for not only installing these for me, but for also taping this short clip of how they sound. I did a lot of research and ask a lot of questions on here about which pipes to get...thanks for all your help. [ame= ] [/ame] PS. I was also having a radio issue, which he also fixed.

Headsets came in this weekend. Took about 20 minutes to install, works great. Almost like it is a part of the helmet and not an accessory add on. Speakers work well, the mic works well too. It is NOT for listening to music loudly, but you can hear it played fine. The coolest part is riding in a group talking to the other bikes.

Start at 8am at Rider's Harley in Trussville, Al. Last bike out at 9am. Rolling into King's Ranch for a BBQ lunch by 12. Last year's event had at least 100 bikes, and the kids were thrilled to see all the riders, and the noise and the steady stream of bikes that kept rollin in. Last year they raised more than $22k. I know it's last minute, but if you can make it, it's for the kids who are under privelaged and come from broken homes. Definitely a worth while cause.

After much research and youtube listening I finally ordered my exhaust slip ons yesterday. I went with the Roadhouse MotoClassic. To me they sounded like exactly what I was looking for...a nice bass rumble and some noise when you get on it. Can't wait for them to get here. I pulled up behind Yamahamer at a stop light and he told me it sounded like a pissed off sewing machine was coming up behind him. If anyone has these pipes I hope you have some good things to say about them. Thanks again.

Does anyone have any opinions on one being better than the other? Reason I ask is the utopia is cheaper.
-
Thanks for the everyone's help. I ordered this item today IMC-HS-G35U-FIVE PIN OPEN OR FLIP FRONT HELMET HEADSET from http://sierra-mc.com I hope it is easy to install. Keith

Most interested in some bass rumble, not anything obnoxious loud. Which of these are the least loud? BUBS (Sleepers or Complete System) Road House (Slash or Fish Tall) Khrome Werks (Slash, Turn Down/Out) Barons (Multiple Options) Harley Road King Muffler Conversion (Special Bracket Required) Samsons **Can not find Road House for the Venture. Seems every Yamaha model out, not the Venture though.

Thanks Brian. The shield I am looking at is still tall enough where you would be looking through it, but short enough that if I sat up straight I could see over it. The stock one now does not allow me to see over it due to the height. I just wondered if it being 4" shorter had any increased buffetting> talking about the clearview shield.
-
1) Do you deal with a squeaky front brake? If so, how do you fix it? 2) Does anyone have the Clearview Shield? I am curious about the one 4" shorter than stock, and if there is increased buffeting for either yourself, or your passenger. I am looking at the shorter one so I can see over it if I need to. The stock one is just too high for me, and here in Alabama, it gets dang hot in the summer time, a little wind in the face would be nice.
