Well...looks like I will have to follow in the car. Folks, there is also a good BBQ place about 15 minutes away right up 20/480. Famous Dave's. Probably the best choice if you really want BBQ chicken. There is also a place about 8 miles away in Wellington, OH called Big Dog's BBQ. He usually caters but I also think he sells BBQ there. You may be able to order, pick it up there and bring it back if you want to. I'll have the number if somebody wants to call him on Thursday when they get here. Monty, yes, I have a good sized fire pit in the back and a smaller one in front near the pond. I also have plenty of firewood. I never looked into the Porta Potties. I may still do that this week...just haven't done it because I personally HATE those things. The Quaker Steak suggestion isn't bad either. I've eaten there and it's pretty good. They are all about the same.

OK folks, I'm going to pull the plug on the group reservations for BBQ at the Moosehead Grill on Friday night. Eileen and I drove up there today and it's just too much trouble on top of everything else we have going on for the weekend. We have to reserve their "Party Room", pay the $100.00 rental, pay a per head price of around $16.00 per person and the "catering" menu that we have to select from is basically the same as what we have already ordered for the Saturday meal. So, basically everybody will be on their own for Friday night. If some want to go to the Moosehead, that is fine and I'm sure they can handle multiple small groups. Some of us usually go to a little place called Scoreboards in LaGrange, about 8 miles away. There is also a small Mexican Restaurant in Oberlin that is pretty darn good and also a Chinese place in the same building. So......everybody can decide where they want to go and everybody doesn't have to go to the same place. Hopefully this is OK with all of you.

Folks...I'm pulling the plug on the Friday night reservations for Moosehead Grill. I will start a new thread with details. Basically though, everybody will be on their own on Friday night.

I sure hate to hear this. I know that Don has been through a lot over the past few years. He will certainly be in our prayers.

WHAT? Nobody ever worked on your bike? hmmmm.....not even on a Sunday?

That looks GREAT Ponch. I wondered when you were going to reveal it. If I didn't already have my Baron's tach and your 3 gauge bezel already installed, I would be all over that.

OK....I'm pretty sure that the brand is EverStart.
-
I bought one at Walmart last year when I needed one quick. I think they only had one brand that would fit. I don't remember what it was but I'm pretty sure it will be your only choice. It has been fine so far.

Well yea...there's always that. BUT...he DID ask specifically about Saturday.
-
Yea, that mini trouble maker. I'll be watching her.

Usually around 8:30 or so.

Ice is about the same distance. About 4 miles is the closest. Now folks...let's not scare all the newcomers. I don't want folks to get the idea that this is a drunken party. I've never seen anybody drunk and behaving badly. A lot of folks don't drink at all and I usually have no more than one or two beers all day. ESPECIALLY those that plan to go for a ride later in the day. All the folks that I've met at these maintenance days are very responsible people.
-
OK folks, I just got off the phone with the Moosehead Grill. The only way they can accommodate a group our size is if we rent their "party room". It will hold about 60 people. It would cost us $100.00 to rent the room and I would have to meet with them to come up with a menu and a "per head" price. Are we still interested? Also, just a side note. In my opinion. The food is just OK...not fantastic. I've only eaten there one time and though I thought it was OK, it was not good enough that I have been back yet. That was probably 3 years ago.

Counting Eileen and I, that's about 32 people so far. Anybody else? I'm figuring around 7:00. Is that OK with everybody?

I don't think the one in Amherst is a Comfort Inn. If I'm not mistaken, it's a Days Inn.
-
Yes, I always have soft drinks and water iced down.
-
Don't worry Boomer...I'm not a big drinker but if offered, will enjoy one of those cigars and a shot of that single malt in your honor.
-
hmmmm....watch it now Charlie. I think I remember you posting about a couple of other brands you rode over the past couple of years.
-
Not correct though. They changed it at some point but I don't remember what year. I know that on my '99, you do have to hold down both buttons to activate the clock.
-
Starting around 9:30 AM.
-
Beer and wine are available at Walmart..about 4 miles away. There is a liquor store in LaGrange, about 8 miles. They do not take credit cards but do have an ATM machine.
-
The catered meal is usually between 12:00 and 1:00.
-
I know somebody who has one like that. If we can find a safe place to do it.

As usual, there really isn't one. For those of you not familiar with the history of Freebird's Maintenance Day, I started doing this maybe 5 years ago. The first year I did it, I think we had about 12 people. It lasted a few hours on a Saturday and then everybody went home. We had some sandwiches and etc. and had a nice time. It has grown steadily since that first time. I think that on years two and three, we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs but that finally became too difficult with the number of people present. So a couple of years ago, I started catering the Saturday lunch from a local establishment. They do a good job and I think everybody has been pretty pleased with it. Will do the same this year. There is no set price for the Saturday meal. There will be a donation can available if you wish to help with the costs. Though I still list it as a Saturday event, for several years now people have started pulling in on Thursday afternoon and we usually have to run them off sometime on Sunday. So, this little one day even now lasts about 3-4 days. It is very informal. We usually try to do some kind of clinic on Friday. V7Goose is very good at this. This year it will be a valve adjusting clinic and my bike will be used as the demo. Please do not expect that you will get your valves adjusted because it's just too big a job to tackle for everybody that might want it done. The purpose of the clinic is to demonstrate how it is done so that you can tackle it when you get home. Saturday is usually a very busy day with carb syncs, tire changes, plug changes, adding accessories, etc. Please understand that there are only so many hours in the day and there will be a lot of people who want help with things so please keep your expectations reasonable. If you have a job that will take several hours, you are pretty much on your own as far as people helping you. Also, please bring whatever supplies you need to get your job done. Oil, grease, plugs, etc. There will be plenty of people to lend assistance and help but you are responsible for any supplies that you might need. It always turns out that a handful of folks are working HARD to help others. We all want to get things done that need to be done but we are there to have a good time also. Therefore, we usually try to set a cut-off time on Saturday to clean things up and then sit around and visit or some folks like to go for a short group ride. So I'm going to say that we'll set around 3:00 - 4:00 as the cut-off time on Saturday. Eileen and I are looking forward to seeing you all again. This is always a fun and family oriented event. You will meet some great folks and not feel like a stranger. Just show up and have fun. If you have never attended a VentureRider event before, we look forward to welcoming you to our family. Don
