  1. Just go to the forum that you want to post in...for example...watering hole...first gen tech talk....etc. Click on that forum and at the upper left, just about the list of existing discussions will be a blue button that says "New Thread". Don
  2. LOL....I think I still see stars from that one. I can tell you though, that bike is a LOT easier to get out from under you that a RSV is...but that was another story.
  3. Very nice indeed. Looks to be in EXCELLENT condition. I would guess that one is worth a few dollars.
  4. The RSV does indeed have carb heaters. There are a few threads here somewhere that talk about people unhooking them and/or installing cut-off switches in order to save power for heated vests and etc. Mine are still connected.
  5. WOW...what a turn THIS one has taken. Bras, BBQ...hmmmmmmmmmm.....BBQ .... that sounds pretty good.
  6. Those look very good. I don't know how much interest there is but nice job.
  7. I would like to have a nice tube amp but really don't need one. I truly AM a beginner in every since of the word so just don't need to spend a lot of money on an amp. I have a Fender Mustang II modeling amp that sounds amazingly well for a solid state. It is really all I need at this time.
  8. I think I still have the button that Cindy made for the International.
  9. I can say for sure that there was no butterflies harmed in the making of this story.
  10. I know NOTHING.
  11. Yep, I agree and please don't think that I am knocking the Valk. It was a cool bike. I wouldn't mind have one now but sure don't need two bikes.
  12. The last bike I took a test right on before buying my RSV in '99 was a Valk Interstate. I had ridden one before but decided I wanted one more test ride before buying the Venture. I stopped by the Honda dealer on my way to the Yamaha dealer and took it for a nice 30 mile or so ride. I liked it a lot but just not quiet as much as I liked the RSV. Loved the power but wasn't as happy with the riding position and the fact that the CB and etc. was optional. I've never regretted my decision but the Valk was a nice bike.
  13. Maybe she was....Maybe she wasn't.... I guess it depends on whether or not you like very short shorts, a belly baring shirt and long slender legs. Otherwise, nothing special. Butterfly? I know not of what you speak. But if I did, that would be a different story.
  14. HEY...does THIS INVOLVE YOU?
  15. Ok...so it all started innocently enough. I got a message on Facebook from a lady that said "Hi, you left your name and telephone number with my next door neighbor and asked that she give it to me. You can call me at XXX-XXXX and we can talk. Me: I'm sorry but you obviously have me mistaken with somebody else. I have not given my telephone number out to any ladies. Her: Well, it was Don Nelson and had your number on it. I looked on Facebook and see that you and I have a mutual friend so it must be you. Me: No, I know that it wasn't me because I haven't given my number out and you live in a state a long way from me and I haven't even been to that state in probably 6 years or more. Her: Well, if it wasn't you then how did you know that your number was left with my neighbor? Me: Please go back to your first message to me, the one where you TOLD me that somebody named Don Nelson had left a telephone number with a message to call you. Her: Well it just seems like quite a coincidence that somebody named Don Nelson left his number with my neighbor and then I see that you and I have a mutual friend on Facebook. Me: I have a lot of friends on Facebook from all over the country due to a Motorcycle Group that I am involved with. Some of whom I have met personally and others are just friends from online discussion. Here's an idea. Have you thought about CALLING the number that this person left with your neighbor? Her: Well, you have to admit that it was all a great coincidence. I just called the number and found that it was not you but somebody who lives close by. The funny part is that I am not the Cheryl that he was looking for. So, there was a Don Nelson looking for a different Cheryl and then I got on Facebook and found a different and wrong Don Nelson that I didn't know but was not the same Don Nelson looking for the wrong Cheryl. Me: You are making me dizzy. Sweet dreams. Her: and I'm not even a blonde.
  16. I love my Bushtec. I like the styling but also a couple of other great features. 1. Fantastic suspension system. The trailers just don't bounce around even if they happen to be empty, this is due to the suspension that they use. 2. The tires. Not only do I think that the motorcycle type rims and tires look great behind a bike but Bushtec uses a very heavy duty tire with very thick sidewalls. Though some people still choose to carry a spare, you really don't have to. The sidewalls are so heavy that folks have pulled them many miles after a puncture to a place that they could get it repaired or replaced.
  17. It goes back to the same issue we had a couple of days ago with a new member joining up and immediately posting about a product that he was developing and asking people to contact him if they were interested. It is a thin line to walk. On one hand, there is always interest here in any used parts for these bikes. On the other hand, we don't encourage people joining up as trial members just to sell things here. That is why the classifieds are set so that only supporting members can post ads. It's a tough call sometimes. I know that we have many here who would be interested in the parts but on the other hand, this site would be FULL of strangers signing up as trial members for no other reason that to post things for sale. Also note that the trial membership is for 60 days but that does not mean that you HAVE to wait 60 days to become a supporting member. You can do that at any time. That is really the only option if you wish to post things for sale because posting classifieds is discouraged in the tech areas and are typically deleted.
  18. The RSVP lists are on the Calendar.
  19. Don't worry Bob...I have NO idea what that crazy man is talking about.
  20. WOW.... very nice. Looks like you have some vintage amps there also. I'm envious.
  21. Yep, we will sure get you plugged in. If it gets too bad....we can unplug you too.
  22. Folks, this has been weighing heavily for a few days now so I'm going to put it out here and hope that you all give it some thought. It has been a long winter for many of us and I think that we all need a long soul cleansing ride to wash those winter doldrums away. It is perfectly understandable and happens to some extent every winter. I'm talking about the tone of some of our responses to one another. There just seem to be way too many posts and responses lately that end up with one or more members going after each other much more aggressively than is necessary. Sometimes it is the result of a short, snippy and totally unnecessary response to a question or opinion and at other times it seems to be a problem with somebody being entirely too thin skinned and taking offense at something that was perhaps meant more in fun and not as a smart remark. One thing that has always set this forum apart from so many others on the Internet is our patience and willingness to help each other. Even if it's a question that may have been discussed multiple times before, we have recognized the fact that some folks are newer and may not have seen the previous discussion. We also recognize that some folks here are much better with computers than others may be and we realize that searching for and finding existing information is difficult for some of those people. That is why we often discuss things over and over again or at least help them by posting a link to an existing discussion without a smart remark to accompany the response. We have also been able to disagree about things without it turning into personal attacks against another members opinion. If don't don't like a certain product, whether it is a tool to sync carbs, a tire brand, whatever, it should be easy enough to state an opinion and explain why you feel the way you do without telling somebody else that they are stupid or don't know what they are talking about just because they happen to have had a different experience with that product than you have. The strength of VentureRider.org is that we have a fantastic group of folks that generally bend over backwards to help each other. I've said many times, our bond here is the love of the Venture, Royal Star and other motorcycles. We are here to enjoy that which brings us together, not to dwell on things that might tear us apart. None of us are perfect and we all have a bad day now and then. I have actually censored myself here by going back and deleting my own posts a few times because when I read it back later, I realized that it did not come across as I had intended or I had said something that I quickly realized was uncalled for. The best advise I have to offer to all of you and to myself is to NOT post if you are upset or angry about something. Walk away and think about it for a while. After you type a post when you are a bit miffed about something, take a few minutes and read through it again a couple of times before you hit that submit button. You are the greatest group of people that I have ever had the pleasure of being associated with. I am very proud of the family that we have built here and if we stay true to the the basic principals that this club was founded on, we will continue building those lifelong friendships that so many of us have found here. Thanks for listening.
  23. I'm not sure but I THINK that Rick has them at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com They are not shown on his website but you email him, I think he has them.
  24. Hey Eddie...do me a favor and DON'T try to help me. Yea, I even remember syncing the throttle bodies on a fuel injected BMW that day. That one was very easy.
