  1. Owl, I have12 lifters out of pontiac in scrape plie, but under snow and ice at the moment. If we get a thaw I might be able to find them. Do you have a time line before their not needed?

    vest pin

We have been purchasing pins or stickers on our destination trips. One of my wifes has had the pin break flush with the back of it. Anyone have a sure fire way of reattaching it? It can't be heated or it will ruin it. Ice & Boredom.
  3. I have never had a hydroplaning problem come up. But riding through South Dakota too fast with a 50 MPH crosswind I can tell you that a fully loaded Venture can become airborne. This happened when going over one of their bridges. The headwalls for the bridges are only about 3 feet tall built out of solid concrete. This makes for some pretty unusual wind currents when you go over them. I know this for a fact because the RPM increased considerably and the feeling of weightlessness was scary to say the least. :rotfl:

Never heard that one before. Thanks.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  5. Ok, I'll tell you just what I can remember about all the things wrong. Front fork seals leaking very quickly after new. Fixed them, but reason for leaking. Severe rust on the inside of fork protectors dropping down onto seals. Remedy remove rust and paint inside of fork protectors. Ignition failure twice New ignition installed Blown head gasket twice Engine shaking so bad literally pulled coil wire out from coil. Starter gear fell off. Motor shakes so bad and had so many problems he had a friend who has rebuild many Harleys rebuild his. Upon tearing the motor apart and putting it back together he found that the push rods were incorrectly installed and a few more things not kosher. Motor runs better but he was stopping at my place and just before turning into my driveway it quit on him again. It sat at my place for 3 days before he came to trailer it home he was so peeved. I talked to him about a month ago and asked if he had found out what was wrong with it yet. He said that he hadn't even looked at it. He's about at the end of his patience with it. It's to bad too because like you I think that it is a good looking bike. Plus he is a great friend the kind of a guy that would give you the shirt off of his back.
  6. You will find that it is a sealed bearing that has to be replaced. It can be done by a back yard mechanic but most of the time it needs to be pressed out and in, once it is installed the axle nut needs to be torqued quite high. I have done many on GM and Fords but never any Chrysler's but am willing to bet that they are not much different. The worst one I've ever done was on a Hyundai what a pain. You couldn't even replace the disc brake rotor without pressing everything apart! Korean junk.
  7. Nice looking bike. One of my friends bought one new. He has had nothing but trobule with it. He has been towed home numerous times. Once by me. Thankfully we were only about a mile from his house. First time I ever towed a bike with my Venture. I'm not kidding, if he could have he would have had the best "lemon law" bike case going. Only thing is they went belly-up no one to take it back too. So don't drool too hard ya might have to repaint it.:rotfl:
  8. Sure hope this is right because I for one will never get a passport. We're not sure if we are going to make the Int'l rally or not, we are planning another trip west about that time, but we'll see. If this is the answer to "secure" our borders and make travel between our borders mandatory. I guess thats it for me ever leaving the U.S.A.. Call it what you want but personally this is a ridiculous way to protect our borders. This requirement should be done at all entry points to "North America". Passports were the norm years ago for travel between borders in Europe. But, correct me if I'm wrong, are not in use today. I fail to feel safe just because of a passport. To me just another tax. Paid enough. I know,I know "death and taxes" two things that never go away. There is more than enough of the USA for me to see yet.
  9. Or free up some juice. Replace a bunch of those bulbs with LEDs. Make sure you use the brighter ones if you replace the stop light. Or better yet leave in the original stop light bulbs. Thats one place the brighter the better. http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=CAR&keywords=&cart_id=9665204.16953&next=50
  10. Kind of reminds you of the U.S.S.R. of old doesn't it?

  12. It sure couldn't hurt. What we have now is a bureaucratic nightmare.
  13. How does this work? I see numbers in columns and at the top Japanese I can't read.
  14. KEEP IT UP.... JUST KEEP IT UP You all are just sooooo funny!
  15. Seems like everything is made somewhere else anymore. If everyone wants the USA to start making everything here again all we have to do is declare war on the USA then bomb the heck out it. Take over its government rebuild all of its factories. Set up a puppet government that subsidizes all its manufacturing and listens to them{ I.E. whats good for manufacturing is good for the country}. Afer all it worked for JAPAN!:rotfl::rotfl:What the h-ll am I laughing at its too true. NAFTA just puts us all closer together for better ? or worse. I grow grapes for a living and have to be very careful about what I spray or do to grow them for consumption. But what erks me in my line of business is the grape juice that is imported into our country that doesn't have to be watched for what was sprayed on them. It is getting to be a big problem to compete.
  16. He truely lived doing what he loved to do. What better "Ride" through life could you ask.:thumbsup2:
  17. Very cool! That would be almost creepy. We were in NYC when Central Park was done up in orange banners. That was interesting to say the least. Cost some millionare big bucks all in the name of Art.
  18. I have the same question about the coasting enricher diaphrams.

  21. Seems to me, just thinking out loud now, that if your fines to the state for killing two people only amounts to $65.00. Whats the point of the fine in the beginning? The accused should at the very least be ordered to pay for the FULL burial expenses of those that he has departed! Sad and seemingly unfair justice still abounds in the legal system.
  22. Isn't the free Enterprise system a marvel when it works this good? :mo money:
  23. I had the same problem only it was the rear that would release the air quickly. After tightening, cleaning and replacing just about everything, it turned out to be the solder joints in the air controller. I believe there is a writeup in the technical part of this site explaining how to do this job and what to look for. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493
  24. Very painful for your bike! But how about you? Bike can be fixed. Just having to look at it is hard enough for us, its got to be murder on you. OK just read previous post by you. DUH!
